  1. This is what we have decided to do, We will arrive at Supersition near El Centro, CA mid-afternoon Sunday April 15th. This will allow riding Sun, Mon, Tues & Wed. We will move to the KOA Thursday morning early. If after we are Supersition for a couple of days we could always move over earlier. We will be at KOA until we have to leave for LA Saturday afternoon. Will return late Sunday afternoon pickup the Trooper & Trailer. We would like to move to Ehrenberg, AZ Sunday night but if it is too late we will just dry camp the night at Slab City. We will then move on to Ehrenberg early the next morning. We will stay at Ehrenberg till at least April 25 and possibly the 26th. ALL dry camping / boondocking except the time at KOA. That is the plan and hope you can join us. I will be calling the KOA today to make our reservations. rocmoc n AZ
  2. I believe the pass is around $50. I don't need to do the sand dunes myself if the pass is required as I am playing in the sand at the other two location. But that is just me. Since we won't be there Sat. afternoon & Sunday, those days could be the run to the dunes so we don't spoil it for others. Just a thought! rocmoc n AZ
  3. Don't understand your poll. rocmoc n AZ
  4. No one has ever joined that has one of the new ones so don't know! Sorry we can't help. BUT, no one has had problems with the axles on the Trooper. The few that have had an issue with their CV-joint made adjustments or added shocks that went beyound the design angle of the CV-joint and that has only been a couple. The rest of us no problems. The only real problem was the setup from factory on the ring & pinion and that was cured with Lenny's diff upgrade. Only cable problem was early on with the trans shifting cables but that again seem to only happen to a few. I have an extra set because I was concerned and now the cables have been sitting for 4 year now. Again it may have been the result of hard shifting by a few. I don't hard / speed shift and have never had a problem. Best I can do! rocmoc n AZ
  5. Rick, Are we going to need a Dunes Pass because of the proximity being near Glamis Dunes? A Dunes Pass is NOT required at Superstition or in AZ. I know you have to have a off-road sticker and California recognizes other states such as AZ & UT. How heavy is enforcement? My past experience is CA is not a State to mess around with as they will ticket you big-time! Also anyone is welcome to join us at the other locations. rocmoc n AZ
  6. Rick, There are the possibility of other people meeting us in Superstition so I am waiting to here from them. I will differently make it to KOA by early Thursday morning, that is what I am leaning towards. We will only be 1 1/2 hours away. rocmoc n AZ
  7. Kinarfi, I didn't do it. Slab City, http://www.slabcity.org/ is about 15 miles or less as the crow flies but I don't know if there is a direct route along the canal there. You can dry camp there for free. I am also going to Superstition near El Centro , http://www.riderplanet-usa.com/atv/trails/info/california_05663/ride_562e.htm , before Rick's Jamboree and Ehrenberg Sandbowl between Blythe & Quartzite, http://www.go-arizona.com/Ehrenberg-Sandbowl-OHV-Area/ after Rick's Jamboree. I will say upfront we have to leave Sat early afternoon of the Jamboree and will return Sunday late afternoon. I have already worked it out with the KOA for us to leave the Trooper & trailer there as we have to run into LA. We have not decided yet if we will just come back to pick up the Trooper & trailer and move on to Ehrenberg or stay the night. We will be arriving Wed or Thurs at the KOA coming from Superstition. rocmoc n AZ
  8. Very light drinker. I can get a pretty good buzz on a single light beer. LOL!!!!! Just was a little bummed that day. We live in a community where we are the youngest at 62. BUT they live a long time here, not unusual to have friends in late 80's & 90's. Even a few in 100's. Sometime there isn't anyone to play with. If I need help with lifting something there is only one other guy that can lift more than 20 lbs. BUT I am catching them fast, LOL!!!!! rocmoc n AZ
  9. I have owned sandrails and the Trooper will never be able to preform as well without a ton of dollars invested. I have thought about this before and decided it would be cheaper to buy a sandrail for the dunes rather than try to make the Trooper do something it was not designed for.
  10. When Rick provides I will or Kinarfi will. rocmoc n AZ agreed, kinarfi
  11. You are correct, the shock has little rebound damping and bangs itself apart. Limit straps are the way to go if you are going to run the stock shocks in the rear. The fronts don't have the same problem. rocmoc n AZ
  12. I have never play much in the sand for the reasons you mention. Just not enough power without turbo or supercharger. Lenny is the only one that I know of that has used paddle wheels with a stock engine (without his supercharger) so his post will be interesting. Not many play much in the dunes with a Trooper. Ah Blow Sand, have climbed it many times with other machines YEARS ago. There use to be another hill to the West about 5 miles. It was even tougher and if you went down the wrong sand slide you were in big trouble. Dumped off a 10+ foot cliff on to the wash. Rolled my Jeep on this one. We turned it upright, bent the roll bar back and finished the weekend. Had a great time! I don't even know if this area is still open to off-roading. I was out there when the CHP enforced for the first time that we could not drive on the highway with the buggies. rocmoc n AZ
  13. GREAT! Can you post the dates you set so there is not any misunderstanding. Thanks for you work on this. rocmoc n AZ
  14. We know what you mean. We too hate to let any dollars go in this economic market. Problem is at our ages if we don't we may not get to enjoy before that last ride comes knocking & we can't take it with us !!!! It has been quiet here on the board lately so if you don't hear from anyone just add a little post to this topic so it stays at the top of the list. Someone out there has what you need & will contact you. Just may take a little time. rocmoc n AZ
  15. When you all get the date, post it here or email me. We will try to make it next year. rocmoc n AZ
  16. Hang in there as some of the posters on here have changed out their shocks and may have a used one at a reasonable price. Mine are still mounted on my Trooper as spring struts so I don't have a spare. I added Fox shocks without coil-overs. The mod I did is posted on this site. rocmoc n AZ
  17. That is a lot of coin for a sub-standard product made in China. Thing could not cost more than $30 from the factory. JMHO, if you have to go to a new shock put the money towards a couple of FOX shocks or another USA product in the rear. You will save money in the long run and your machine will handle better. The factory shocks are not rebuild-able and fail. I blew one also and upgraded to FOX so I walk the talk. rocmoc n AZ
  18. Sound cool Lenny. You probably already know but only the front glass in cars is laminated so if a break occurs glass will not fly in your face. The rear glass is tempered and will break into a million small pieces. rocmoc n AZ
  19. I sure do! Was driving to Nogales, AZ, on the border, to home depot. As I drove I was thinking of how everyone else had grew-up, but I didn't. As you grow older is is so hard to find fellow SUPER active friends. I have several other Hyper-Active friends but they are in other parts of the world. Currently everyone around me is not and it is a bummer. Great home deals currently in a great location here if any other Hyper individuals are thinking of or are about to retire and thinking of relocating to somewhere else, LOL! ALL THO we take off in the winter as anything under 70 degrees is unacceptable. Just venting after having an Long Island Ice Tea, it is 5:00 somewhere as Jimmy Buffet would say!!!!! rocmoc n AZ
  20. Welcome, WE want everyone. No bashing here as we ALL just want to get off-road. You are welcome to join us at the Jamboree in April. rocmoc n AZ
  21. Good morning & WELCOME Jeff. There are a couple of guys on Ebay that are selling parts from the Joyner bankruptcy auction that took place a couple year ago. Maybe your contact is one of them. There is also in most big cities someone that makes up cables for nearly everything, bicycles to heavy equipment. Did you try our two princple dealers with parts, SilverBullet in Yuma, AZ, http://silverbulletmotorsports.net/ and No Limits in Arlington, TX, http://www.joyner-atv-utv.com/ ? rocmoc n AZ
  22. Thank you plumber. rocmoc n AZ
  23. So Anybody, how much do the cams cost? rocmoc n AZ
  24. I believe the hydraulic unit is $1200+. rocmoc n AZ
  25. I agree but he ask my advice about the 2008 Trooper vs later models. rocmoc n AZ
