rocmoc replied to rocmoc's topic in Joyner UTV SxS Forum
Steve, we are going to two more locations on our way back home to AZ as stated in an earlier post. I believer, if I know them any at all, Lenny & Kinarfi will also. Check it out, 3 Trooper stops makes the trip even more worth the fuel from AZ. rocmoc n AZ -
2012 Jamboree in California April 20th-23rd

Mike, one possibility is I am getting a new trailer for my Trooper, tandem axle. If I still have not sold my old Trooper trailer, single axle, you can use it to haul. I am on the way to Steve's place. At any rate we will figure something out. rocmoc n AZ -
Thank you Rick for being a Gentleman. Given the sales presentation in 2008 & no track record of a new product I had hopes of Greatness for Joyner. I normally do not make mods of the magnitude I have on my Trooper but I felt they were required with MY toy. I personally do not enjoy working on the stuff but would rather play, never grew-up. I don't even like to do the maintenance, LOL ! BUT I will be around in the crowd for a long-time and one of these time will probably show up at a Jamboree with a RZR on the trailer with the Trooper. TWO toys WoW, a guy can dream ! Maybe I can put it on the back of my Trooper instead of a spare tire. That said, play & have fun with with ever you have. I feel very lucky to have what I have. Life is too short to not enjoy ! rocmoc n AZ

I have been to the UTV Rally in Moab and EVERY product on the market preformed excellent. BUY USED RZR ! If I were a gambling man I would put my money on Joyner going OUT of business in the future. There is not a dealer network and after they burned the dealers with the first bankruptcy you would have to be the worst business man in the world to invest your future in Joyner. I have bought nearly a complete second Trooper so I will have parts in the future. If I had it all to do over again, I would have went with a RZR. I am one of the very first owners with a 2008, so have been around since the beginning. Good luck with our choice ! rocmoc n AZ ps, retaining valve after the initial sale of a NEW Joyner sucks. In other words, after you purchase and drive it off the showroom floor kiss half you money good buy ! Needless to say this does not sit well with my peers when I am this honest with my opinion. Just remember it is MY opinion but I am not the average Joe on this Topic.

Trip has moved one week later as we had to tie down a reservation for our stop after Killpecker Dunes. Moab is dependent on the weather. If the forecast is cool with a storm front crossing Washington & Oregon, then we will go for it. If it is going to be HOT HOT HOT we will forgo Moab. Trip will start with DINOS. rocmoc n AZ

I don't do Facebook (I don't support the creator of the site, don't care of him) so hope you come back here to receive my input. How about a series of episodes hunting out NEW sites like the area in Hanksville, UT where we just held our yearly Jamboree. How about Killpecker, WY, Hot Well Dunes, AZ, the mountains West of Bear Lake, ID, Silver City, ID, and more! There are lots of places off the radar that are great but you have to ask the locals of an area. How about a series of episodes visiting STATE ran / owned Off-Road Parks, CA has a bunch. It is a tread I believe you will see as States try to coral the off-roader. How about a series focused on the growing Senior / Gray Hair market by doing rides by locations of Snowbirds, like Yuma, AZ, Quartzsite, AZ, Slab City, CA, Lake Havasu, AZ and more. If you do a search on google for Off-road trails or clubs in a State, you will find plenty of locations. rocmoc n AZ

Hay, you differently know more about this than me. I do know BMW uses the same design and you have to press the bearing out & in. Tapping will not work & Locktight is not required. There is never a problem with the hub on a BMW but the bearings which are almost identical in design to the Trooper can fail anytime after 40,000 miles. Only wish I could get that many miles out of any component of my Trooper, LOL ! Thanks for the feedback. rocmoc n AZ

My good hub required taping the bearing in. My bad hub went in on it own without any help and could be pulled out with my fingers. rocmoc n AZ
-
Lenny, Given you have a good hub. Couldn't you heat treat a hub (heat it with a touch) and cool quickly to harden the material. Would this improve the life of the hub ? rocmoc n AZ
-
Sorry, I don't believe Locktight is the answer. If you have the correct bearings and they are still loose, then the hub is worn. I too have one that way. The hubs are not made of high enough quality material in my opinion. You will either have to replace the hub or do Lenny's mod. Lenny's mod IS the correct long-term fix. I will be going that route someday myself. rocmoc n AZ

Good morning Tony, Two supplies, No Limits Powersports http://www.joyner-atv-utv.com/ and Silver Bullet http://silverbulletmotorsports.net/ Both are good, the difference is price & product. Silver Bullets' product & price is a little higher using roller bearings. No limits' is less expensive with the stock ball bearings. It is personal choice, I used No Limits. Did the stock / orignal bearings require a puller to remove? If they did you hubs are probably OK. If they are not tight on install the hubs are showing wear. The hubs wear more than the bearings IMHO. Lenny did a taper bearing replacement but he has the equipment and knowledge for the mod. It sounds like you do also and may want to contact him directly to get the info and what he did. His mod is much much better !!!!!!!! rocmoc n AZ

WELL ! Looks like 3 for sure & 2 maybe. Is this it ? Is the the Jamboree or a Weekend with Rick ? We will come either way ! OR What, where else or some other time? rocmoc n AZ -

Where would you move / relocate next ? IF you were to move, where would you go ? No ties, roots or commitments to hold you back. I am thinking; winter Baja and summer UT, ID or MT. How about YOU ? rocmoc n AZ
-
I would guess Warn would have a direct install or the dealer. I would think Harbor Freight would NOT fit directly as they are built for the universal market. You will have to make some kind of adapter plate and bolt or weld. rocmoc n AZ

I am going to use the old farm tractor method. Straight down filler tube, take off the cap, look inside or use a measuring stick & fill her up when she needs it. rocmoc n AZ

Good product ! Just drop the bed and drive it on ! I ALWAYS use at least 4 straps, most of the time 6 or more. If one comes loose you are still OK. If you only use two, ONE comes loose you are in sad shape ! Place the Mule in the center then pull forward to put some extra (small amount) on the front of the trailer. You are suppose to be carrying 10% more weight on the nose of the trailer. You should be able to see you tow vehicle sag down a little as you pull forward. If you don't the trailer will whip as you get up to speed. Watch the trailer as you first start down the road for the whipping. If it does, pull over and adjust, don't just keep driving. Let us know how you did. Good luck & have fun ! rocmoc n AZ

Anyone tried Sedona Buzz Saw or Rip Saw Tires?
rocmoc replied to M_Harrison's topic in UTV General Discussion
Stick around and let us know how they wear ! rocmoc n AZ -
Talking about in-line installation between the Power Steering Unit and the Rack & Pinion. Agree in your configuration no difference. I had a SM (Senior Moment) and forgot about the Lock to Lock if in-line. rocmoc n AZ

Duh ! 6 turns lock to lock, there goes short track racing. rocmoc n AZ

Kinarfi & Lenny, This is my understanding from looking at the pics. You installed the reducer/helper between the electric motor and the power steering gearbox, correct ? I know this won't work with your setup but wouldn't be easier for us who are installing our power steering units under the dash to install the reducer/helper inline with the power steering unit and rack & pinion on the steering SHAFT ? This would occur on the long shaft after the power steering unit and before the rack & pinion. This should reduce the load on every component of the power steering unit while accomplishing the same task as your installation. rocmoc n AZ
