Are there any width restriction on the trails. Our Joyner Troopers are wider than 55". We are 60-68". rocmoc n AZ

http://www.kia.com/#/motorsports http://www.kssmotorsports.com/index_sunbelt.aspx I have sent Sunbelt Engines an email for a little info. They are the builders of the Kia racing engines. Aftermarket in a big way, maybe they would do a Chery engine! rocmoc n AZ -
There has been a Major change in the rules for crossing the border within the last month. Last word is ONLY cars & empty pickups are allowed into the free zone & only Sonora zone. Everything else requires a permit which is not a problem but the deposit ranges from $200 to $400 for each permit. If I take my motorhome, bike & trooper South, that would be a min of $600 in deposits and could be $1200 at the max. You are suppose to get it back when you leave and turn in your permits but it MEXICO. We, a group of us, are working with contacts in Mexico to get this clarified or changed. It maybe after the Canadians & USA Snowbirds start trying to head South this winter before the S**t hits the fan. Many RVers on other sites are upset. One such site is rv.net http://www.rv.net/forum/index.cfm/fuseaction/thread/tid/25286128.cfm UPDATE, Just read the most recent post and now a permit may not be required. If you have traveled in Mexico, this can change 10 times in the same day. Will have to wait until someone actually tries to cross. rocmoc n AZ

I have & have had a ton of High Performance cars & race cars. The horsepower output is plane pitiful from the Chery engine. Only from China could a engine have so little hp/cc in today's market. My hope when I purchased in 08 was aftermarket would makeup the difference but sadly that does not seem to be a reality. Yes I know there are a few attempts but coming from the racing world, the target has not yet been hit! If they ever import the Chery car or Chery gets into the race world, we may see a real product. KIA has done just this. They are now VERY active in the Rally World and their little 4 bangers are producing nearly 400 hp. This is a real HIT on the target! JMHO! rocmoc n AZ -

I have done the Rubicon twice, once with a dirtbike (really tough) & once with a Jeep. The Trooper would handle it easily. The problem is the crowds, everyone wants to do the Rubicon. It is only accessable after and before the snow melts or starts to fall. It is just a short season. I did it 20 years ago and it was tough to find a window on the trail then. Most go from West to East and drive the main highways back home. We could not do that so you would be doing it in reverse against the tide & it would take more than a single day. NOW, you can do short trips in and do only a small part of it. There are a couple lakes that we use to go to, camp and then drive out a few days later. Lots of big rocks. Timing is everything with regards to the trails condition. Plus the Cally Greenies are all over you! rocmoc n AZ -

You have one of the first 50 T2s as I do, 2008 model. They had the fuel tank up front and are a pain to fill with fuel. I turned my filler tube on the bolt mount at the tank so the filler tube comes up thu the top of the dash. Long-term I am going to cap the existing filler tube at the tank and put a new filler tube at the location of the sending unit. The sending unit will last you a couple of years if you are lucky. The sending unit is different from the later T2s, longer, and are not inter-changeable. BUT eye have never had the fuel issues the tank under the seat have. My tank has never cracked or leaked, lucky eye guess. I have been putting rubber washers in a lot of locations including the diff mounts to remove some of the vibration & stress cracking. There was a lot of upgrades that occurred after the first 50. Most important is make sure your driveline was changed out from u-joint to CV joint. If not failure WILL occur. Also the rear frame mount for the rear diff WILL fail, needs to be replaced with better steel, design & weld. More later. rocmoc n AZ -

How did I miss this post earlier this year. We too are missing our trips to Mexico. I have even stopped putting Mexico in my signature. Doesn't look like it has gotten any better in the six months since your post. We haven't been down for 1 !/2 years now. They just changed the requirements for bring a RV into Mexico that was the last straw. They now require a permit for an RV in all locations even the free zones with a deposit of $200 - $400. Will have to see what happens with the winter season of RVers. Maybe enough protest and drop in numbers to bring the Mexican Gov around. I have no desire to travel far South with the trouble Mexico is having but would still go the the locations you have named. rocmoc n AZ

If this is the 2011 and is as it comes from the factory? There is a couple of things I noticed. The lights have been moved down to the location I used 4 years ago. They have gone to expanded metal in the bed above the engine like I did last year. And they moved the spare tire location like I did 3 years ago. I feel like I am on the cutting edge. Maybe the 2012 will come out with a lower cage & 31X15 tires & supercharger, LOL! rocmoc n AZ

Casey is a good guy. Was a big help back when Team Joyner was still in buiness. He and his boss/business partner bought a lot of stuff at the auction. They outbid me for the clutches. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico

He never wrote me back. Now looking back, Lenny & I should have bid more for some of the parts. I tried to buy the clutches and they must have had deep pockets as I was the under-bidder with a health bid. Some of these guys were just buying to make a buck and were not really car/off-road/toy guys. Oh well! Thanks for letting me know. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico

My vote is you are a T3. The T2 has two seats, a T4 has 4 seats and you have 3 seats so you are a T3. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico

charlie, IMHO, 31 inch is the way to go. The engine power band is much more usable & the trans/diff gearing is more friendly. The only neg is you loose a little in first for really slow rock crawling. Next IMHO is the 30 inchers. The stock size tires just plane suck! rocmoc n AZ/Mexico

Man what a Crash. Chad Reed bit the big one but finished the race. I did the same thing but nearly as high in my 40's and landed on my right hip. Still have a hip pointer from that crash even today. Lots of scar tissue in the hip. When you catch an edge like that, there is no saving the bike. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
