  1. Sorry to say they gave you some bum info. I have spoke to the local LEO in Moab and posted on here from the UT DMV site that you can drive on the street if you are street legal & have insurance which I do. The local LEO told me to NOT drive on the main highway, use back streets & roads. The Rally has a lot of UTVs that are not street legal and get around the issue by having the police escort. I have been in the Rally and know the organizers from attending. Also if you want you can go on the ridingarizona.com site and do a search of this topic. It has been beat to death on that site. Also Chris, one of the of the organizers, is a regular on that site. They are good people and put on a great event. I went to the Rally first time to Moab as I knew no one and needed to learn more about the area. Worked great, but don't need to any longer. That is new about the KOA as it was one of the host RV parks & that is where we stayed when we attended the event. They did not like you speeding in the campground then, a big NO NO. I did notice when I just went to the website that there is new owners so who knows. It was the second closest RV park to the event and OK RV park was the closest. A lot has changed as the Chris broke away from the Moab UTV Rally and started his own the Rally on the Rocks the next year. BUT bottom line is from other AZ riders just returning from Moab, no problem driving thu Moab if your mind your p's & q's. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  2. What are you guys going to do for fuel? Carry with you or drive into Hanksville? I am leaning to driving into Hanksville as the weather is going to be VERY HOT in route for us and I don't like to carry fuel when it is HOT! There is a Shell Station nearby the campground in Moab that we have used in the past. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  3. They do have the campground at the beginning of Hell's Revenge but better 3/4s will be ready for Wifi to check the business. And the electric will be nice to run AC without running the gen since it is going to be a little warm. We will make reservation also tomorrow. We also will make for Sun & Mon and can always extend if we are not ready to leave. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  4. Quiq, sending you PM with our phone #s. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  5. Kinarfi plays Steve Martin. That is how I would of picked the roles. Good that means I'm doing the Funny Support Role, fits for this trip. Just fun with no thinking. I need a brain rest! I had to cut off a large branch on one of the trees but the trailer is attached in the YARD. Nothing has to go in the street, makes be feel better leaving everything loaded the night before, but will wake the neighbors when we pull out at day-break. Weather looked incredible this weekend in Hanksville, cool and a touch of moisture. We will be in the 100s the entire week here at home, good time to leave! Keep trying Quiq. If you don't make if but for a day to Hanksville, you can follow us over to Moab. Off-topic, Where do you guys want to camp in Moab? In town we like the OK RV Park, http://www.passport-america.com/Campgrounds/CampgroundDetails.aspx?CampgroundId=554. We are Passport members. Been there before and easy drive to fuel and Hell's Revenge area. Or? rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  6. Of course you can! rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  7. Sounds like it maybe the Three Amigos, http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0092086/ . I'm playing Martin Short so Lenny & Kinarfi will have to decide which is which of the remaining Two Amigos. LOL! rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  8. You were one I was really hoping to meet since we missed out on the LH trip last winter. We will come over your way later. BUT keep trying, you still have a week almost. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  9. Order is Cash first, meet the new people & greet old friends! Priorities, LOL! The cash will pay for enough fuel to get to out of the driveway. But every little bit helps. 657 miles per Yahoo Maps. There was a shorter route by 50 miles but it would be down the Mokee Dugway. I will go up it but not down with this rig. Do a search on google for Mokee Dugway, you will be surprised. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  10. WELL! To generate some excitement for the Jamboree; We have been working hard to complete the work on the house, at least get it waterproof & secure, and get the Trooper, Trailer & Motorhome ready to travel. WE DID IT! We are going to be able to make it to the Jamboree. I am going for the greatest distance traveled cash prize. We are leaving early Tues and will arrive mid-morning at the campsite in Hanksville Wed. Everything is done except loading food, water, clothes & the Toys. BUT we will only be at Hanksville from Wed thu Sat leaving Sunday morning. We are moving to Moab Sunday morning for a couple of days on the slickrock. Then on to visit friends near Bear Lake in Idaho. Fun will be had by ALL. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  11. Hay Mate, Hang in there! You are always welcome to visit. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico

  15. Egg, egg, egg! We should be water-tight after this week's work. Important with the monsoons coming. If it was a VW, I could afford to come, LOL! rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  16. Sorry no, very few aftermarket stuff with the exception of the Joyner dealer in Yuma SilverBulllet. He is on this site and will get to you soon. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico

  18. No riding down here in/on the Forest Lands. Too dry, they closed everything! http://www.fs.fed.us/r3/coronado/documents/0608ForestClosureRefined.pdf rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  19. Lenny, Thanks for the great response! rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  20. So I will ask the questions everyone will be thinking. Lenny, ballpark figure on how many dollars $ it takes to get to the point where you have finally arrived at? If you were starting over, would a engine & trans replacement with another manufacture be cheaper / as cheap and a better route to go? This was that concern always of racers, build the small block or replace with a big block. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  21. http://motors.shop.ebay.com/i.html?_nkw=vw+spark+arrestor&_sacat=33628&_dmpt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&_odkw=&_osacat=33628&bkBtn=&_trksid=m270 I have the top one of the two on the page. 22. I bought one that is used for VW off-road buggies on ebay. But it is in-line. No performance difference plus or neg. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  23. Now you guys know that a spark arrester is REQUIRED in most places off-road. They are checking big time in AZ and the fine is $200. A muffler is not good enough as it has to have passed the USDA certification and marked certified on the spark arrestor. A spark arrestor is also required in UT. Something to consider in the future. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  24. From experience as I just sold my triple axle trailer. Triple axle stops, pulls & tracks great even in the wind. On the bad side, the rear axle scrubs the tires every time you make a turn. Over time it tears the tire apart. Trailer tires do not hold up to this or heat & speed. I went thu 11 tires before I finally bit the bullet and upgraded the rims to 16" so I could run LT Pickup/Truck tires as I was very heavy also. Then the problem seemed to have gone away. Sold the trailer after that. Only downside I know of, just watch the tires. If you go on rv.net in the Toyhauler forum you will see all the post of others & ME. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
