  1. Thanks Lenny. My ride today was without any of the stuff that is normally on the rear, spare tire, ice chest & etc. All this adds about a hundred pounds which will make some difference as it is directly over the rear shocks. I will add all that stuff tomorrow and give it another go. Backing off on some of the pre-load will help but will not be the same as changing out the springs. My goal isn't to get it perfect but to correct the incorrect loading point on the swing-arm causing twisting of the arm & improve the damping. I had little damping before or never had much. Pretty sure I will be able to soften the damping but that descison will be made after the Lake Havasu to Yuma trip. There will be plenty of terrain to test on that trip for every situation. I am close enough as $ & time will go next into power steering & doors. Thanks again, rocmoc n AZ
  2. INSTALLED! What a pain in the A**! The bolts holes were the toughest part of the entire upgrade. Alignment, size & etc. But it is finished. Major upgrade! But interesting, the feel is stiffer. Before the front shocks were stiff with the rear being soft, too soft. Now it is BALANCED, but a bit on the stiff side. I took a little ride and it is much, much better. The ride on pavement is just like a car. Washboard is not even a issue, almost like pavement. Rode out thu the rough stuff and went thu dips, drops & bumps and where I backed off in the past, I never let up. Never bottomed out or over extended. Excellent but feels stiff. In fact feels twitchy on the smooth stuff. Since the feel is so balanced, I am going to soften/back-off the springs on both the front & rear. (side note the rear ride height is now a bit higher) I put the new shock location at more of an angle to maintain the travel since the shock was move towards the rear & lowered the upper mount to capture some of the travel when I lowered the diff mount. I installed the upper mount inside of the lower mount to keep from hitting the rear tire in compression, very important. In summary, Better, much much better. I am softening the springs so the damping of the Fox Shocks can work MORE. Level of pain doing this mod, A LOT! But worth it, not easy. Very pleased with the final product. PICS were TAKEN and will be uploaded. rocmoc n AZ

  5. We are coming to LH and then south towards Yuma. We will arrive mid-day fri the 7th. Leave Sun late Afternoon or Mon traveling an hour to the small dune area West of Quartzsite for a couple of days. Then on for a day or two in Yuma. Anyone is welcome at any of the locations. This is the only chance we are going to have for a couple of months. rocmoc n AZ
  6. The final location will depend a lot on the people who may have a chance to do a drive by. April 1st is the selection day per Lenny! rocmoc n AZ
  7. Kings Creek google earth coords, 37*36'33.90"N, -112*15'16.33"W Looks like there is hotel/motel/inn/lodge within 20 miles or less. Adjusted for using less fuel to get there in/with an RV, probably less expensive even tho hotel/etc is in the $75+ range. In the middle of the map on this site you can see Topic Res. where the campground is, http://www.rubysinn.com/06-atv-site/ Same with this site, again notice Topic Res at the top for the trails in the middle of the page, http://atvutah.com/southern/fremont_trail.htm Another on the north end of Topic Res., http://atvutah.com/southern/paunsaugunt_atv_trail.htm Source of the trail maps, http://atvutah.com/trails.htm rocmoc n AZ

  9. Another email I have received, We spend at least one week every year at Kings Creek Campground just down the way from Ruby's Inn. It is U.S. Forest Service campground with bathrooms, water and dump station. It is one of the few parks you can ride an ATV right out of the park from. Also have fishing there from tropic reservoir and several of the trails go along the perimeter of Bryce. Deer, antelope, elk, turkey, etc is viewable in campground area! You can ride to Hatch Utah, over the mountain and have breakfast or you can ride to Henderson Point near Pine Lake for an awesome view also. Here is a link to maps of the area around Ruby's Inn. Most of the trails are side by side approved. http://www.rubysinn.com/06-atv-site/ rocmoc n AZ
  10. Nope, Homey don't play dat. Quote from in Living Color! I like em ALL! rocmoc n AZ
  11. Na, don't include mine, I'm a poor loser. Entered my Classic Car in a Car show ONCE and lost to a fiberglass kit car and it wasn't even a Cobra. Ticked me off something big time. Said I would never do it again. Too subjective. I like everyones! rocmoc n AZ
  12. I just recieved this email from Lutherwood Campground. There are many ATV trails that originate from Duck Creek and Panguitch Lake and Hatch area of Utah, all near Lutherwood. There are many dry camping sites near the Mammoth Cave area that have direct access to these trails and there are forest roads that can be used from the Lutherwood camp area. The web link below is of the many trails within the State of Utah and the information of some of the trail heads is noted. Sorry I do not know personally of these access points but I had talked with some ATV hauling campers that stayed at Lutherwood in 2008 and they had found access from the camp to the trail system. The below web link has a list of trails and maps/trail side photos. You will need to do some research on your own as to terrain and difficulty that your group wants to tackle. I know that a lot of the trails circle around and return on themsleves, that is the nature of the landscape (cliffs and lava flows) with many lookout points. The trails are a lot busier around holidays and long weekends. Enjoy your visit to Lutherwood and southern Utah. http://www.utah-trails.com/Utah-ATV-Trails I not pushing any one campground at this time, just provide info if anyone can check a place out. rocmoc n AZ
  13. I weld the upper mounts into place today. The only thing left to do is purchase two drill bits , one the size of the new shocks & one the Joyner shock size, and bolts for the new shocks. Will be going into Tucson tomorrow early so maybe finished tomorrow afternoon. I WILL take PICS. Then a test drive. rocmoc n AZ
  14. Yes, June 24-26th. We won't be picking a location until April 1st to give people a chance to hopefully check out a few locations. rocmoc n AZ
  15. I carry a 1 ton bottle jack and few small blocks of 2X4 wood to stack under & above the jack as needed. rocmoc n AZ

  17. The Trooper won't stand a chance especially against the X. Power to weight ratio is better than the Troopers and the trans gearing of the Trooper doesn't lend itself to drag racing. Looks like a great machine and maybe a source of parts in the future, maybe the diffs. rocmoc n AZ
  18. Happy Holidays, Jimmy. Was wondering how you were doing. rocmoc n AZ
  19. Talked to http://www.lutherwood-utah.org/loc.htm this morning with a gentleman named Neil. He said they did have trails & roads that could be ridden. He is going to have a couple of people who stay at the campground that have ATVs email me with more info. Looks good on Google Earth but that is limited. He said it is quite and off the beaten path. It is also a Passport Park so members, we are, get half rate fees to hookup. Only about 70 miles northeast of Hurricane. Maybe a good one to check out. Lenny, Neil also gave me a name of someone who is suppose to know most/a lot of the trails in So. Ut. and lives in Hurricane. His name is AJ Billings. rocmoc n AZ

  21. This is interesting. A ATV/UTV Jamboree in Hurricane, UT. Here are the ride descriptions. Maybe there is an area at one of the ride locations that allows camping and would provide the riding for the entire weekend. Anyone know these trails? There is more info about the Jamboree by clicking the header. http://www.atvutah.com/tristatejam/rides.htm http://www.atvutah.com/tristateohv/hvatv/index.htm Here are a couple more I found, http://www.lutherwood-utah.org/loc.htm looked it up on Google Earth and there are trails leaving the campground. I am going to call them and ask if we can ride the trails and what are the trails like. http://www.pinewoodsresort.com/atv-bryce-canyon.php http://www.zionnational-park.com/atv.htm http://www.willowindrvpark.net/index.html http://www.cavelakescanyon.com/RVpark.htm looks like a good one! http://www.utahoutdooractivities.com/atv.html http://www.brokenbowrvpark.com/index.html another one that looks good! Sure a lot of stuff in Utah! rocmoc n AZ

  25. I am afraid if we don't get more postings we could lose the site. That is why I post so much. Why would Admin keep the site up if no one uses it? Come and join me with questions, trip reports or whatever. Post why you aren't posting, LOL. rocmoc n AZ
