  1. Will PM you with the dates. rocmoc n AZ
  2. We will be gone some of March & April, fixed dates. For sure we will ride if we are both here at the same time. There are some great rides around here & Tucson. rocmoc n AZ
  3. Kinarfi, Lots of deals on houses currently in AZ. It is getting down to freezing at night time and that is a month early. We had the coldest Turkey Day in 30 years. Your cold air is slipping to far South. Or there are lots of camping spots in AZ. Load up the Trooper and meet us in Lake Havasu Dec 10th. rocmoc n AZ
  4. Ok Lenny, I looked at every shock on the site and will continue to monitor the site for a while. Currently I can get new shocks for what they wanted for the used shocks and less than what they wanted for new in box never used shocks. So in the mean time I am going to build and add another upper shock mount. Won't hurt anything and just gives more options. Will better than the current config. Tomorrow I will have the welder, chop saw, drill press & metal out to work on the Toyhauler. So I will start the mounts also. Suppose to be 70 degrees before is turns cold again for a couple of days. rocmoc n AZ
  5. Lenny, I will check the site but from a technical view, what do you think? rocmoc n AZ
  6. More interesting reads, http://www.off-road.com/trucks-4x4/project/project153.html First one being a possible way to add a low range transfer case. http://www.lowrangeoffroad.com/1-6l-16v-re-grind-torquer-cam-and-modified-rockers.html http://www.hawksuzukiparts.com/main_parts_lj-and-sj-and-samurai.htm http://www.hawksuzukiparts.com/main_contactus.htm Last three being maybe they would have the knowledge for a cam grind. rocmoc n AZ

  8. I just had an idea. I an actually very happy with my current springs in the rear. What if I built new upper shock mounts / location to go with the new lower mounts location I have already built. This would free up both of the current shock mount locations, upper & lower. With the current shock & springs in the new location, this would fix the moment/twist in the swing arm causing the neg camber. In the old shock location I would install these, http://offroadwarehouse.com/products/sfID1/12/sfID2/113/sfID3/93/productID/55. What ya think? LOT Less expensive solution and I would be dealing only with the damping issue of which I have NONE with the current shocks. rocmoc n AZ
  9. Lenny I had a truck engine rebuilt and they did not put the same cam in. The new cam wasn't a truck cam which was suppose to make more torque. The engine was never the same. Ran great but did not have the same pulling power. I know that some of the after-market cam manufactures for Hot Rods advertise torquer cams. We need to find a grind shop with a old hot rodder that knows the OLD WAYS! I have too much on my plate currently to do mine at this time. Next on my plate is putting your shim kit in my diffs. After my LH to Yuma adventure in a couple of weeks. rocmoc n AZ
  10. Check this out. This Subaru would do the trick. http://www.funco-motorsports.com/subaru_motor.htm But checkout the sidebar for other engine options. Now how do we get a tranny geared low enough and diffs that can take the HP? rocmoc n AZ
  11. Going to all that work you want to pull the head. You need to hone the cylinder walls so the rings seat better. Also check for scratches in the walls. AND most ring compressors are made to sit on top of the block as the piston is pushed / hammered into the cylinder. I normally use the wooden handle of a hammer to push / tap the piston in. Be careful! Power wash the engine while it is still in your Trooper then you will have min cleaning later. Anyone know if a short block is available and how much $ ? Also take the time to have the cam ground to a torque grind. I differently would do this if you are tearing the engine apart. Hard part would be finding a cam shop that still remembers how to Hot Rod. rocmoc n AZ
  12. You would you the gasket the same way as non-flipped. SAME GASKET rocmoc n AZ
  13. Happy to ALL also! rocmoc n AZ
  14. Thanks Snowman, you said the same thing but better. Further you can not be in full locker & full 4 wheel drive all at the same time. Only one set of drive wheels, front or back, will work. So if you need all 4 wheels for traction, you are s*it out of luck. When I had my dune buggies we got around fine with limit slip in the sand but not if you are rock crawling. You have to have enough cent to not spin coming off of a loose surface to a hard surface. This is even true with a pickup or truck. Have a great Turkey Day. rocmoc n AZ
  15. Why would you need this in a Trooper? The Diffs in the Trooper are limited slip / one wheel drive until locked so not the same problem as the sand viper. The open diff would limit the effectiveness of the 4 wheel drive! What am I missing? rocmoc n AZ
  16. Man that is a high ratio. Tranny must really be low ratio design. But it does make it easier to find a replacement manufacture for diffs. I have gear ratios for my race car from 2.50 (for road racing) to 3.62 (for short track) and they are all Toyota. I was looking at BMW diffs yesterday and ratios would work. It is a simple independent pumpkin in housing with similar mounts. Driveline & axles could be built at a driveline shop. Will look at Subaru next. Just looking ahead. My greatest concern is cost of new factory parts. You can purchase a good complete BMW diff for less than $250. How much is the gear set, Lenny or Snowman? rocmoc n AZ
  17. Has anyone determined what the stock diff ratio is? Lenny have you determined what the diff ratio of the lower gears you are experimenting with is? rocmoc n AZ
  18. Kinarfi knows I am not coming North into the Cold. Think he was talking to you. We are home and starting to fix stuff. We are bearly reaching 60 degrees today but it is bright & sunny. Sure nice to be home! rocmoc n AZ
  19. First I have to say nice site. What do you mean by open diff? No locker feature, limited slip or single wheel drive only. http://www.silverbulletmotorsports.net/proddetail.asp?prod=DiffT&cat=21 rocmoc n AZ
  20. http://tucson.craigslist.org/rvs/2029261230.html rocmoc n AZ
  21. Nice
  22. What kind/brand of shocks?
  23. WOW! rocmoc n AZ
  24. St. Charles is in the SouthEast corner on Bear Lake. rocmoc n AZ
  25. Hello Silverbullet. Sure wish you would put the cost in your emails when you share a new product with us. Thanks, rocmoc n AZ
