  1. I am not a fire / forestry road kind of guy. Don't need killer stuff but no reason to take a 4X4 on a smooth dirt road I can drive a car on. rocmoc n AZ/Baja/TX
  2. That is how I aligned my road race car. Have done it for many years. Really only go for toe-in. For Camber & Castor you need a level / tool made for the job. This is the one I have, http://www.pegasusautoracing.com/productdetails.asp?RecId=1206 rocmoc n AZ/Baja/TX
  3. Rick, you pick up a tubing bender you will be my new BEST friend. LOL! I really want to address the shocks & power steering. rocmoc n AZ/Baja
  4. That's funny Rick but I have a long way to go before it floats. I sent the pics to Kinarfi. Believe he is away with Lenny so will have to wait until he gets time. These are the final pics for a while until I get time to do the doors. The spare tire & ice chest sit flat on the engine cover. Surprisingly the engine noise changed to a more mellow sound coming thu the expanded metal, much more pleasant. That's it for a while, other projects & a trip take priority, LOL! Hauled my first load on the engine cover, a 18" pizza. rocmoc n AZ/Baja
  5. Finished the engine compartment cover today & installed. Will take pics tomorrow. Just a simple flat cover that the spare tire & ice chest sit on. Made of light weight hollow square tubing around the perimeter and a couple of cross braces. Covered with light weight 3/4" expanded metal. I welded EVERY piece of expanded metal that touched the support frame, around 150 welds. Did not want any rattles. Made so the tire mount can be moved around depending on the size of the tire. Saved over 125 lbs vs the old safari cover. rocmoc n AZ/Baja
  6. Rhino is going to be the best deal for the dollar. There are couple different motor sizes but only diff is mostly top speed. They all preform well. There is a lot out there so find a deal. rocmoc n AZ/Baja
  7. Get a used Yamaha Rhino. Lots of used ones and great machine for the uses you have stated. Lots of aftermarket attachments available. rocmoc n AZ/Baja
  8. See that you are in Tucson. Bill at Audio2000 on Speedway just East of Swan on the South side of the road has a friend that makes aftermarket stuff. He was / may still be the local Joyner dealer. Could give him a try. rocmoc n AZ/Baja
  9. No one has posted / found a replacement yet. rocmoc n AZ/Baja

  11. It is amazing how the ride / suspension can change. When my Trooper was totally stock, the rear wheels would hit a bump harsh / front was soft. When I changed to the 31x15 / big tires the rear became soft and the front would hit a bump harsh. Now that I have finished the cage mods for the most part, the suspension seems balanced. The cage mods removed a lot of weight directly off the rear wheels and I added a little weight spread pretty even over both front & rear. This seems to have changed the weight transfer positively. When I hit a bump it is neither soft or harsh, just right said Little Red Riding Hood, LOL! This has all been on the same speed bump. An unexpected benefit. rocmoc n AZ/Baja
  12. Welcome and thanks for sharing! rocmoc n AZ/Baja
  13. Part of me says if you were worried about the liability of the steering setup, this maybe worse! rocmoc n AZ/Baja
  14. Well for a fact every sending unit sends a circuit thu the gas tank every a traditional resistent sending unit. Never really gave it any thought but I have to say, I DON"T KNOW. rocmoc n AZ/Baja
  15. Yup you also have to replace the lug nuts. Also can be purchased at Discount Tire. rocmoc n AZ/Baja
  16. The Vision Buckshot wheels can be purchased at Discount Tires. rocmoc n AZ/Baja
  17. Like Lenny I also run 31" tires but did not redo my firewall. A little work with a LARGE hammer in the right areas allowed the tires to turn. I have easily cruised down the freeway at nearly 60 mph without redlining my Trooper. rocmoc n AZ/Baja
  18. PAINTED! Now an afternoon drink & watch the Sprint Cup Race and Motocross. rocmoc n AZ/Baja
  19. Thanks Mike, Great contact. We are going to have a Ball! rocmoc n AZ/Baja
  20. Cage mods complete. Pics are coming soon, they have been taken and uploaded to Kinarfi. Thanks Kinarfi for your help. I will paint the cage in a day or two and reinstall. Note in the Pics that the cage now has 8 points of contact to the main body of the Trooper. The stock cage has 4. Also there is room to do anything required in the motor compartment but if needed the down support tube can be removed entirely with the removal of the upper cage. A support was added in the front near the dash. This will also be used for the doors. Will look better when the support is painted and a solid piece of something is installed. Doors will come later. The engine compartment cover is next and it will have a small frame with expanded metal. The weight of the cage mods is half of what the old engine cover / safari bed weighted. There is now a hand hold-on / On-sh$t handle for the passenger. Access to the seats is still very good. rocmoc Here's the first of the 9 just uploaded, You're welcome Rocmoc, Kinarfi Here's the link to Rocmoc's cage building album on Webshots http://community.webshots.com/album/578518672CNxtaw?start=0
  21. Best back up battery is the Buddy System. That is why I don't like to go out that often by myself. Sometime you just can't help it so we have a lot of miles alone. I do agree, have a great battery. Good in this case is not enough! rocmoc n AZ/Baja
  22. Lawn mover batteries. I run one in my race car. rocmoc n AZ/Baja
  23. One of these days we will have to come your way, EAST. OR we are leaving for the tip of Baja at the end of Nov. with the Trooper. Any takers? rocmoc n AZ/Baja
  24. Yup, a lot of stuff from the Joyner auction went on to eBay. Plus there are shops that make cables. Ask around at bicycle & motorcycle shops where you live or Yellow Pages. Also Google for custom cables. Not that hard of a product to make. rocmoc n AZ/Baja
