  1. I will pull the one out of my race car and try it to see if in the Trooper. If it does, it is a standard fit. If it will any speed / race site on line can supply you with and new switch. Maybe even just the key. Watch for another post within a couple hours. rocmoc n AZ/Baja
  2. I have also said it is good we are not all the same or it would be pretty boring! rocmoc n AZ/Baja
  3. Tires are Dunlop 31/10.50X15 from Craigslist. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Dunlop&tireModel=Radial+Mud+Rover&sidewall=Outlined%20White%20Letters&partnum=105R5MROVOWL&tab=Sizes Rims are Vision Wheel Buckshots from Discount Tire. http://www.visionwheel.com/wheel.cfm?id=476 You will have to also purchase a set of wheel lock nuts from Discount to make them fit. You have to take a BIG hammer to the lower outside corner of the firewall. Just turn your wheels and see where they rub. Then smack it! Sorry all this and more was posted but seems to be gone. rocmoc n AZ/Baja
  4. Thanks Kinarfi! You CAN fit tho not as easily as before! I made sure there is headroom but tighten things up. I figured out the rear support mounts. Will build over the weekend. They will be fixed / welded to the roll bar at the top & bolted to a flat 1/4" steel panel along the rear of the motor compartment. Plenty of clearance for the radiator but if necessary the supports can be removed out of the way along with the made body of the cage. rocmoc n AZ/Baja
  5. With cage mod comes a different way to cover the engine. Need input! Choices are; No Cover. Build framework to hold ice chest & spare tire. Expanded metal, the stuff with diamond shaped holes & framework to hold ice chest & spare tire. Solid alum cover with framework for ice chest & spare tire. I am favoring one of the first two so heat is swept away. Weight is about the same between the expanded metal & alum, the difference is how the air flows thu the engine compartment. What do you think? rocmoc n AZ/Baja
  6. Completed the cage mods except the two down supports in the rear today. I love it! I am emailing a pic file to Kinarfi so he will hopefully put them up for viewing. Haven't figured out how I am going to do the rear supports. I don't want to block the removal of the radiator. If anyone has ideas I will listen. In the pics the support yet to be built is where the broom handle is. I still need to paint and build the door for total safety & cage support. Notice the brace in the middle running from the top of the windshield down to the bottom of the rear support behind the seats. Here's some photos for you all to enjoy about my cage mod. 1st of 10 Looks real good, but I'm not sure Kinarfi would fit in . rocmoc n AZ/Baja
  7. I don't like it. Looks like something put together for a SiFi film. Mad Max for our NZ friend. Mel should be stepping out of it any minute, LOL! rocmoc n AZ/Baja
  8. There has never been a post of the factory spring rates. My best guess is to take the spring rates found on the board here and add 20% as the stock springs are too stiff. Just my best guess.
  9. Torquer cam. I may go this route even before the engine needs any work. As Lenny has said the port matches are horrible! rocmoc n AZ/Baja/NM
  10. WELCOME! rocmoc n AZ/Baja/NM
  11. Hay Silver Bullet & Others. How about some performance items for people who do not want to go turbo? These engines are so de-tuned there should be a lot of other performance opportunities. OR just a flat out stronger engine like a Subaru or Toyota! Putting money into this engine is like building a flat head V8 when you could be running a stock Chevy 327 that would still have more performance even after you have spent a ton of money! rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  12. I am approaching the mud problem a little different. I am keeping the stock fenders but will work on keeping out the mud. My new doors will have a covering thus keeping the mud out of the driver/passenger compartment. I will find and stop most holes where the mud may come in thu the firewall. Still will get the sides dirty. rocmoc n AZ/Baja/NM
  13. We prototyped the stuff in the late 60's when I was into dune buggies. rocmoc n AZ/Baja/NM
  14. Easier to buy one, http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/CNC-HAND-TURNING-BRAKES-SAND-CARS-RACE-OFF-ROAD-/110576407576?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item19bede1418 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Turning-Brakes-Single-Handle-Polished-/290460592023?pt=Other_Vehicle_Parts&hash=item43a0cce797 rocmoc n AZ/Baja/NM
  15. You made the correct choice than! rocmoc n AZ/Baja
  16. Oh, you gave me such an opportunity for one liners about going to California looking for balls but I will hold back. LOL! Don't want to offend our Left Coast friends. I will say one, You won't find any balls in the California Legislature! Oh there are so many more, LOL! rocmoc n AZ/Baja
  17. An earlier post speaks of where to find replacement balls if you have lost yours, LOL! I believe it was Lenny or Kinarfi who knew where to get new balls. You will have to do a search. The innards is something else. May have to buy an axle or maybe one of the dealers has a broken one. We saw a lot of broken axles in the lots when the Joyner auction was held. Good luck, at least you were having a ball, lol! rocmoc n AZ/Baja
  18. Welcome back. You didn't move to the Southwest when you had the chance? rocmoc n AZ/Baja
  19. I will come to the mountains or UT next year! Would be nice to finally be somewhere where it is cool! Last couple of years have been HOT & DUSTY! rocmoc n AZ/Baja
  20. I am going to use a dune buggy hand brake setup. I believe the E-brake in the old VW is part of the central tube. If my memory is correct we use to cut them off in the early days of dune buggies. rocmoc n AZ/Baja
  21. They are preformed hoses for a specific application. If you go out to your car and look in the engine compartment, you will see the same thing between your radiator & engine. They could be for anything. Can't tell with a part number and if they are gone you/someone will just have to trail & error to use. rocmoc n AZ/Baja
  22. Think Kinarfi is the head / sacrificial lamb this year! LOL! rocmoc n AZ/Baja
  23. On the mark Lenny! This is on the mod list but just tooooooo far down on the list. rocmoc n AZ/Baja
  24. I installed a 90 degree bend and new fitting on the drive shaft carrier bearing, no problem now! Can be purchased at any parts store. rocmoc n AZ/Baja
  25. This is one of the places I am taking the Trooper in Feb / Mar 2011, http://www.in-the-desert.com/redcloud.html and http://iv4x4.forumotion.net/schedule-a-new-run-f7/red-cloud-mine-clip-wash-cibola-lake-t322.htm and http://www.socoloriver.com/id27.html and finally http://www.dzrtgrls.com/red_cloud_mine/red_cloud_mine.htm rocmoc n AZ/Baja
