  1. Since you have a '08 for the clanging and banging routine I would check the rear diff mounts. On the '08 the brace will be round and will break. Later the changed the brace to rectangle tubing. Or the locker is adjusted so the locker is completely releasing. For the heating, is the rad fan working? You should hear it when you first turn the key on and before you hit the starter. Also if you are maintaining high RPMs it will heat if you don't do some mods. rocmoc n AZ/Baja

  4. Hang in there. There was a time when the economy was bad and I was being paid by commission on what I completed. But if no work in coming in thu the door, no pay / income. I had to take two shifts at a gas station to make ends meet. I still have the pay stubs at $1.50/hr, 16 hours/day & 7 days/week. Those were tough times for me. It will pass and the strong will be more successful. Best time to hunt for a new job is when you already have one. rocmoc n AZ/Baja
  5. Good update / changes! I added a new post below! We want this to be positive for you. Good luck and hang in there. rocmoc n AZ/Baja
  6. I tried to get a hold of him also without any success. He does way way backwoods off the road camping sometime and ya just have to wait until he reappears! rocmoc n AZ/Baja
  7. I agree Kinarfi. I been considering taking a little spring tension off of the front shocks. If that helps, then I will back off a little N2. rocmoc n AZ/Baja
  8. Do you have a list of items changed / improved on the NEW Trooper? rocmoc n AZ/Baja
  9. What tires your are running can make a big difference. With the original small tires on my Trooper, the front end seem to be sprung nearly perfectly. I would hit things and it was very smooth. The back seemed too hard with a bang when engaged. After I put the large 31" tires on, the rear became nearly perfect - very smooth alto does need a LOT more damping. But the front became stiff, too hard. Like the rear before, a bang when I hit something. This IS something that needs to be taken into consideration even tho you will not see anything published. Tires & AIR PRESSURE make a BIG difference! rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  10. Original credit for the weight info goes to our long lost friend Flatbed. He is the one who did the first shock upgrades. Unfortunately most of his post were lost in the software upgrade of the sit about a year ago. Fox Shocks, IMHO, are the best value for the dollar. rocmoc n AZ/Baja
  11. For those of us thinking about taking our toys to CA. Yes you can if you have the right OHV sticker! Arizona OHV Decal Program rocmoc n AZ/Baja
  12. Hay, Lenny! Know anything about this place? Sand Hollow State Park | Utah.com How far from the house? Mods, please don't move to riding locations until we hear from Lenny! rocmoc n AZ/Baja
  13. I lied, I'm back! Went for a drive down the frontage road next to the freeway today. At 60 mph it was GREAT! I had not put the skid plate under the motor on and thought maybe I will leave it off. I have never had one on any of my Jeeps or sand buggies in that location. WELL, I looked at the skid plate to see if it had been used in past adventures. The thing has huge deep marks from encounters with rocks. Guess it is going back on. I had to top off the Trans gear oil but decided Royal Purple was too expensive and went with Castro Syn. Gear Oil (Half the Price). She is washed and boy was she dusty. I have to apologize to everyone who came to Farmington. I looked for some where with good terrain & cool temps. Over looked if it would be dry for months before resulting in DUST! Sorry about that! Well we are taking her to Baja or Yuma / Palm Springs this winter. Maybe we will see someone there! In the mean time We are back in our hills here at home. The monsoons have started and the DUST is gone. Have fun! rocmoc n AZ/Baja
  14. Be sure you mark all the sensors & electrical plugs WELL when you pull the engine. Best tip I can give ya! Read my engine pull & clutch post of last year for tip with throw-out bearing. rocmoc n AZ/Baja
  15. I have seen your area on Fisher's ATV on the Outdoors Channel. Enjoy! rocmoc n AZ/Baja

  17. New Clutch! Hate to say it but sounds like the fix! rocmoc n AZ/Baja
  18. She is back together. Very very quiet and I am very pleased. I only lowered 1 3/4" - 2". I could have lowered another 1" - 1 1/2" but not worth the extra work. I would have had to cut the hitch brace off and relocate. Only thing remaining is reinstalling the muffler (10 minutes), skid plate ( 30 minutes) and a few miscellaneous things (15 minutes). It does seem to be smoother but could be the power of suggestion, I wanted it to be quieter. This is the end of this STORY! rocmoc n AZ/Baja
  19. Only detrimental when only one has it. In our case both have it so it is compatible. On a side note. You know we like to find things at thrift shops. I found the prize. A Saidhead 2008 Watkins Glen green tie-dye t-shirt with bushy headed Saidhead skulls. Roc washed it and I have wore it for two days! It is so coooool! rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  20. Yeah my wife says I am spoiled! Her fault, she started it, LOL! rocmoc n AZ/Baja
  21. Have not done the diff upgrade. Focused on the mounts and repairs to the damaged equipment. But I have taken the diff out so many times it is a snap. I may wait to see what you find with the gears. Would love to lower the gearing a little when I do the upgrades to the diffs. I have had sooooo many other things going on I am lucky to get the Trooper back on the road. Had to replace the exhaust manifold on the Ram, new 16" rim & tires on the toyhauler, work on the better 3/4's car and getting the house waterproof for monsoon season. AND BOY did it start today. It poured! rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  22. OK Lenny, first front mount angled too much up and the driveline hit the motor mount. Reconfig'd and now it is PURRRRFIT! Everything is painted and ready to be mounted back in permanently. You will remember I broke off the diff vent tube. Well it backed /screwed out with a screwdriver. Didn't even have to use an easy-out. It is threaded and just screws in. I could not find a local replacement. So I started looking at it and said, " This thing is made out of steel, I can braise it." Worked like a charm, braised and screwed back into place. You don't have to open up the diff to deal with a broken off diff vent tube! Will be back on the road tomorrow. Will be exciting to see how she preforms as the diff is now all rubber mounted to the braces / frame now. Should take a little noise & vibration out of the buggy. Will also prevent future metal fatigue as I am sure that was as much the cause of failure as the wall thickness of the braces. rocmoc n AZ/Baja
  23. Thanks but I wanted them CHEAP! LOL! or I will wait and see if I ever need one. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  24. Thanks Silverbullet. My cables are fine. I was just trying to buy for the future but was not able to at the auction. rocmoc n AZ/Baja
