  1. There is ALWAYS a silver lining if you are willing to stay positive. Sometime it is a bit difficult to find it but it is ALWAYS there. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  2. I'm glad it worked out for you. It will be interesting to see how much performance has changed when you get in the real off-roading. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  3. One of the problems that kept us from taking the Jeep with us was my Jeep was leaning on the left side (lower on the driver's side) after everything was mounted; New tires, new wheels, new leaf springs, new shakles & new diffs. It also caused the Jeep to dive on the driver's side when you turned quickly towards the right. I couldn't find the cause and I was under a timeline, time was running out. I was too reactionary! While traveling and upon the return home, I told myself to slow down, think and measure. I have fixed stuff like this before. So today I took the time to measure and just lay under the Jeep looking at the frame. Inch by inch comparing left side to right side. THEN, I SAW IT! The frame supporting the front spring hanger on the rear diff on the driver's side was bent. I took a floor jack and lifted the frame at the location aprox the amount of the bend and sure enough the Jeep was nearly level. In one of my shops when I poured the floor I installed tie-downs in case I ever had a problem like this. I will tie her down, jack her up until the bend is gone. I will then box both sides so this can't happen in the future. Must have happened when the right rear axle came out on the previous owner. I never saw it as the axle was hanging out when I bought her. At any rate it is a good day when you solve a problem! rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  4. Never had any of those problems. Lenny is more the expert of playing around with the diff & the locker setup. I'm sure he will join in when he can. I would check the cable to make sure it is not coming apart inside of the protective/slide tube. Water can get inside and rust the cable causing the cable to slide poorly. After time the cable can rust all the way thu & break. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  5. On pavement, I was running 12 rear & 8 front. Pretty much the same in the dirt. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico

  7. Looks like we know who hauls the food, drink & firewood at the next Jamboree! Good job! rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  8. Also forgot to add, make sure you don't have more air in the tires than you need. Air pressure is one of the easiest ways to improve ride & handling. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  9. IMHO, soft is better than hard for off-roading & rock crawling. This is even true in racing. When I race/raced in the dirt vs pavement, I ran a much softer setup. This is even true for racing in the rain. Soften & pull the swaybar links. Soft is GOOD in this case, LOL! rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  10. Welcome 12TrooperT2. Glad to have you aboard. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  11. When I had mine & since I was running 31" tires, I lowered my Trooper for better handling & ride. It worked. IMHO, Joyner cranked too much pre-load in the springs. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  12. Well project Jeep ran out of time for the Ouray, CO trip so will have to plan for next Aug. We got down to our departure time, trip Ouray part was stuck on to an existing buisness trip, and we had to leave. Jeep was running but too many little items/problems existing at home that can turn into BIG problems on the road so the Jeep was left behind. I also wanted to drive the Jeep around for at least a week at home before going on the road. Will get back to finishing her next week. BUT I had loaded a trailer ball mount in the Motorhome just in case I ran across a car trailer. Car trailers get cheaper as you travel towards the East. WELL, I got one. This is what I bought, http://www.kwikload.com/carhauler.htm I am so pleased as it can haul the Jeep & Motorcycle and more. I do need to rewire as the past owner did cut the wiring up a bit. I don't know what it is with people and cutting up wiring harnesses. I my 60+ years I have never had to cut up a wiring harness but it seems like everytime I purchase something with a couple of years on it, the wiring has been messed with. But that is the only neg. Has new tires and believe it or not still had an AZ title with the perm plates on it so I only have to pay transfer fees (even tho the guys had moved out of AZ months/years ago). The guy also gave me all the tie down stuff. So I am going to have a couple of single axle trailers for sale, the one I hauled the Trooper and/or Sandrail on and a 6X12 foot trailer. Any interest howler as they will be going into the Tucson Craigslist. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  13. Could it be that they are holding up so well that none of the owners have had to go looking for help thus none of them on here! rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  14. Really NICE Tinman, one of the BEST I have seen. Like your parrot too! rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  15. Interesting, at one time I was going to cut about 4 inches out of the same location. Different strokes for different folks keeps things interesting! rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  16. Installed the Thrush mufflers today. Half as loud but still plenty of noise. I can't get any larger in the space available so this is it. She is quiet as you drive down the street. Yup, I drove her down the street today. I need to align the front end as she was a bit twichy. Getting closer. Also got the horn working today. Will hook up the radiator fan tomorrow, tie off the brake lines and install the last fender. A little everyday! rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  17. Went by the local Speed Shop, Don's, in Tucson today to see if he had mufflers that would fit. HE DID! I got the biggest, largest & quietest Thrush Turbo mufflers that would fit. Will install tomorrow morning. I really don't like it loud when I am cruizing the outdoors. Also got the headlights, parking lights & running lights working today. Let out LOTS of air from the tires. I am running the take-offs from my Ram and they are the heaviest rated LT 17" tires you can buy, over 3500 lbs/tire. Tires had nearly 80 lbs from the shop after mounting to the rims. I air down to 16 lbs in the rear & 20 lbs in the front. Pretty sure I will be able to air-down more for the street. Of course will get in the single digits when off road. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  18. OK, Lenny moves over to occupy the throne of the immortals leaving the throne to Kinarfi for us mortals/the last 300. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  19. Kinarfi, I would try and find where it goes. Give Casey a call. If it went between a shaft/gear and the tranny case, the steel of the shaft/gear will eat the alum case up in no time. I really would try to put it back! JMHO! rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  20. IT'S ALIVE!!!! Started her up today and my better 3/4s & I took a ride around the yard. A little louder than I want. Going to talk to the guy/shop I bought the old style glass-pack mufflers to see if I can make it less LOUD. Power steering & disc brakes work great. Checked the fans and they both work, still have to wire in. Still have more lighting wiring to do, electrical is taking time. Will have her on the road next week! What a task, way more work than I planned to do this soon after purchase! BUT everything I have done was on the list of future mods so not a waste of time. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  21. Good Job Kinarfi and we thougth Lenny was the MAN. He has now been dethroned! rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  22. LOL, we still have flip phones. Told my better 3/4s we would upgrade when Ipad 6 comes out. Siriusly! We don't want to move on to a probuct before the bugs are worked out. I did that once with my T****er, LOL! rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  23. Riding with Lenny at Coral Pink we're lucky his Trooper was the only thing cracked. My neck & back felt like they were close to breaking after riding with him at a hundred MPH thu holes big enough to swallow his Trooper. He hit one section of trail so rough at speed that it ejected his spare tire off his Trooper & out thu the woods. He found it after a quick search. I understand why your frame cracks, LOL! Kinarfi doesn't hit ist that agressive but he doesn't just putt around. I have seen him push the limits of his machine. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  24. Then it would be call a JEEP! rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  25. I will do pics! rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
