  1. krusstygun, sorry if I mislead you. I was saying a sensor, not necessarily the speed sensor of the Dodge example. Knowing which sensor is a little beyond my expertise. You can try the trial and error method of unplugging a single sensor and seeing what the results are. If no change in the performance of the Trooper, this maybe the problem sensor. This is how we use to check spark plugs, pulling the wire one at a time until you found the bad plug. Try the same thing with the sensors,, one at a time pull the wire and see if there is any decrease in performance. If there is decrease in performance, the sensor is working. If the engine has no change, the sensor maybe bad or not working. Just an idea! rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  2. That's FUNNY! rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  3. Just washed the Trooper, gets one bath a year, LOL (just kidding, it gets at least two). It is incredible how much the color has faded. Keep in mind my Trooper is stored in an enclosed garage out of the sunlight. The only time it sees the sun is when it is on a ride. I do plan to paint it this next year but still the finish only lasted two years. On it positive note, it still looks GOOD! rocmoc n AZ/Mexi
  4. Maybe a sensor somewhere. The problem in today engines/cars there is so many things that are inter-related. For instant, on the Dodge Pickup, the sensor for speed located at the rear diff also controls the ABS brakes system. Have you tried a direct call for help to one of the dealers? I do wish you good luck. If anyone gets answers to problems, PLEASE post so we can share the solution. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  5. We are also getting ready, checking trailer batteries. We are going a few days early to visit Friends in Albuquerque and Santa Fe. Will also make a quick trip to Taos and Chama. In Farmington, we are planning to take an afternoon or two after a morning ride and travel around the area beyond the 4X4ing or travel around in the moring & complete and evening ride. There is a lot see in the area. We should arrive early the 11th. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  6. Hello Kinarfi, I agree. BUT I do have a spare tire. Not much of one but enough to keep Murphy away! rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  7. I am also bringing my Dirt Bike (motorcycle) in addition to the Trooper. Is anyone else a rider? I am bringing it just in case I break the Trooper, sort of like a spare tire. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  8. I am going with Fox. Thought I would have them installed for the upcoming Farmington, NM. adventure but have not been home. King are great shocks but so are Fox and a couple others. Depends upon how aggressive a 4-wheeler you are to justify the cost. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  9. This is a similar setup Tow Trucks use with dolley wheels on one end and winching up the other end of the vehicle. The dolley wheels have been around for years and there are a few manufactures in Tow Operator Magazines, tho these appear to be homemade. Another is called a T - trailer with a similar setup in the rear and a single long rod/pole up the center to attach to the hitch on the tow vehicle. Usally a set point on the pole/rod to maintain the non-dolly end in place. This use to be used by many early dune buggiers. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  10. Location is off of Pinon Hills Blvd into the Glade. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  11. OK I have not pulled the trigger. Decided I needed to do some more research. What did you that have changed your shocks do with the valving? Found this really good site about valve damping, eshocks.com: Bilstein Off-Road Shock Guide This reinforced my understanding that compression damping should be on the soft side and the rebound should be firm. What I did not realize the degree / greatness of the difference. How did you all setup your damping valving? rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  12. Difference is Freeway to Gallup with the last remaining leg going North 2 lanes. 89/160 is two lane almost all the way. If the mileage is close, I favorite using the Freeway. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  13. We will be going up Hwy 77 North from Tucson to I40 East to Gallup and up Hwy 37 North to Farmington. About 515 miles one-way, one long day. We will be heading East after-wards to visit friends in Albuquerque on the way home. I use Yahoo maps. I have pulled my Toyhauler on both 89 & 160. Road is good. Only warning is watch your fuel, stations are only in the larger towns, Tuba & Kayenta on 160. There is some GREAT sightseeing along that route. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  14. Silverbullet, how about some pics? rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  15. I have only been to Cottonwood in that area. Roads are a little narrow but were in good shape. What route is Lenny taking? rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  16. Sorry I don't have a route from your location. Most of the roads I have driven in UT, AZ & NM are good. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  17. Good post, they have a lot of interesting stuff that maybe use in Trooper mods. Sand paddle tires prices look good. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  18. OK it is time to step up, WHO IS COMING TO FARMINGTON? We are coming do matter what. Daven has agree to take us on some great runs Who's coming? rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  19. Time for an update. I was not able to break away from my work while I was in the San Diego area. But I also found I got a better price via the internet, free shipping & no sales tax. I also wanted to look at FOA after visionxorb's post. So, I have taken the time to pull info about FOA from online sources and they are not hardy enough for ME. I will still be going with Fox but via a phone call & internet order. I like the price but found too many warnings for aggressive use. There are upgrades to the basic shock but by the time they are added to the price you are nearly at the Fox price. They would be great for the cruising type, IMHO! I do want to thank visionxorb for the post. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  20. Sounds like you lost a tooth and when you get to that location it binds. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  21. Take the oil fill cap off and see if there is blow by coming out. Take the cap off and tape a rag over the opening. Take it for a drive and see if anything comes out, bottom & top. Sounds like blow by! Could also be valve stem seals. Run a compression test! rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  22. My only limit is the lack of funds. Just not enough to do everything I want! LOL! rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  23. Hopefully Rick we will have the shock replacement process refined on a couple of different type of shocks. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  24. Hello Lenny, I thought the same in the past about there not being a sweet spot but I recently read an article to the counter. Today with progressive valving the article said that there was a sweet spot mid-way thu the stroke of the shock. Anyway I am going over tomorrow afternoon and talk the the EXPERT and see what he has to say. I know Off Road Warehouse does a lot of the shock work on the buggies ran in the Baja Races so they should know there stuff. I know more than the average but not nearly what they should know. Will let you know what happens. As it has turned out I have great Wifi hotpoint. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  25. Hello Dick, I moved the lower mount rearward to where the swing arm turns forming the little leg of an L and closer toward the tire. This was to more centralize the load on the rear of the swingarm as I am bending/twisting my swing arms from heavy use and the large rims & tires. This will require a longer shock and heavier springs than the factory location. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
