  6. We use a Garmin 855. Bought at Amazon for $219 with free shipping, don't know what the current price is. Topo & Mexico maps are available. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  7. Two of my favorite sayings is " If you are not living on the edge, YOU are taking up too much room!" and Mark Twain's, " You won't be sorry for the thing you did, but the thing you didn't do!" (abbreviated) Run Banshee run! I call them backup toys. rocmoc n Mexico/AZ
  8. I have seen the setup you are talking about on older Jeeps & trucks. You could always throw in an adjustable proportioning valve to balance the system. rocmoc n Mexico/AZ
  9. Everything is loaded for the trip home. Went back to competition hill today to see just how far I could push the Trooper. Pushing pretty close to the max, I climb the face of the hill in 2wd, no lockers engaged. I was able to climb anything with 4wd & lockers except one cliff section, just ran out of power. But on the plus side I took my dirt bike over, Honda CRF450X, and climb everything including the cliff in 3rd & 4th gear. Man does that thing fly! We took some still pics but ran out of battery for any video. Seafood dinner in town tonight and end of the fun. rocmoc n Mexico/AZ
  10. Climbed Competition Hill with ease. No front locker engaged and I will try today in 2wd & without rear locker. We will take pics today, maybe a video, but will not be able to load until we get home. The Wifi connection is too slow here. Ran some HUGE sand berms & smaller sand hills in 2wd & no lockers. Only going to be 70 degrees today, LOL! We sure are at the correct location at the right time. Last day as we load later afternoon and head home in the morning. We almost decide to extend and take the new coastal road from Rocky Point to El Golfo but need to return home for honeydew's. rocmoc n Mexico/AZ
  11. When I return home, I will try to throw some gauges on my trooper to see where it is at from factory. There should not be any difference between a T2 & a T4. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  12. I don't agree with the setup you have posted. I do have quite a bit of knowledge around alignments/setup from doing it to my race cars. What I would recommend as a starting point and adjust as needed: + 1 degree caster (note Positive caster) - 1 degree camber (note Negative camber) 1/2 inch tow-IN Reduce the caster to Zero if when you turn a corner it feels unstable. Increase tow-in to 1 inch if steering feels twitchy/wonders when driven in a straight line. Keep in mind this is not a car and will not drive like one. When driven in the dirt the setup is not as important and is very forgiving. The problem/most noticeable is when driven on hardtop/street. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  13. We are in Rocky Point at the Reef RV Park. Tomorrow we RIDE! Checked it out today and primarily SAND. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  14. After two days of off-roading and one day of walking the Vendor tents, we are on our way to Rocky Point, MX. Not a problem with the Trooper and performance has been excellent. A big plus is I was able to purchase a 3/4" drive & socket set from one of the Vendor tents. Now I can get the Hub nut off & I really needed it for the truck to get the wheel nuts off in case of a flat. I have always carried a 1/2" and a two foot length of pipe, The right tool for the job is better. Quartzsite, trying to be nice we will never be back. Enough said! rocmoc n AZ/Mexico but later today rocmoc n Mexico/AZ
  15. Those pics bring back a lot of memories! Enjoy! rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  16. Welcome Jake! rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  17. First day of riding and no problems. Really easy ridding, only one hill was a little challenge. We rode the area Northwest of Quartzsite. All rock & dirt. Trooper operated GREAT! rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  18. I have this site also and went to a Chery Forum trying to get info for a source. I had no luck. I believe the cars are not available here in the States. I don't know where you would run one down. If I start changing things that much, I will go with Honda, Subaru or someone more USA mainstream. Good luck, this is a tough one! When I was at Moab; power was not the issue, gearing was. The only place I need more power is in the sand and I'm not in it that often. We'll see how I feel about that after this trip as Rocky Point is going to be mostly in the sand. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  19. How are the trails around LH? You will be less than an hour from Quartzsite. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  20. For rock crawling, I would love to have an auto. BUT the rest of the time, I love my stick! rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  21. Special THANKS to Kinarfi. The K&N filter was a perfect fit. I did not even look at anything else figuring you would do the best setup. Amazon was a great source for the filter, surprise! Thanks again, saved me time & work, rocmoc n AZ/Mexico Edit by kinarfi ---- you're certainly welcome and thanks for the comment.
  22. Boy have I missed the Beast. Ride went perfect in fact it is quieter than before. Had to put the rear locker on in one section and lockers & 4wd in a water crossing. Everything is go so I loaded the Toyhauler. Can't believe I got everything in, Trooper, dirt bike (Honda), two mountain bikes, TV satellite base & post, two spares for the trailer, a unmounted spare for the truck and three containers of tools. I will only put in a few gallons of water to offset some of the weight in the garage. Ya, finally going to play again! Still a standing invitation to meet us in Quartzsite, AZ or Rocky Point, MX. Laptop will be up the entire time in case you need directions. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  23. Duhhh, I thought you wanted him to turn/smooth it in the lathe. Boy did that one go over my head. LOL! Take care! rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  24. Everything is Great! We have heat back in the house the the Trooper is completely ready for this weekends trip including the arrival of the new K&N filter yesterday. You are always welcome. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  25. Yup, what Kinarfi says! rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
