  6. Thanks A, have done it tooooo many times. Same as my racecar only I have a ton of room in the engine compartment. Just isn't my favorite thing to do. I like to play! rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  7. OK, I started today. I moved the Trooper to the front garage with the tools & removed the cage above the engine. I have the early all metal and that thing is heavy. No big tips & easy to remove. I will post pics & updates as I work thu this thing. That was enough for today as I had to spend time making room to get Trooper into this garage. Surprise was it started right up & no smoke after sitting since May/Moab. Hope to have it ready to pull over the weekend. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico

  12. Don't forget to add that idiot Waxman from LA with his Cap & Trade. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  13. Is or will the new owners going to do anything for the First Owners of Joyners? Is the repair & assembly location staying in Phoenix? Maybe I should hold off on the trans repair or start planning the replacement with another brand! Too early to know if this is good or bad. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  14. It is actually closer to $.45/hr in China. Mexico gets $1.50/hr and that is why a lot of the jobs were moved from Mexico to China after they were sent to Mexico with the signing of NAFTA. This has & is causing a lot of problems, one being the increase in illegal crossings into USA, for Mexico as well as USA in the job market. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  15. Most of my rattles were in the storage walls under the seats. The flat sheet metal is spot wielded every 6" or so leaving the area in between rattling against the square tubing. I used a ton of silicon sealer. Every edge in the cockpit was sealed along with the area behind the seats (the hood/storage above the engine). I now have NO rattles, surpizingly quiet. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  16. We are now in the control of BIG BROTHER! Walking will be the most risky activity you will be allowed to do. A seat belt will have to be installed on every toilet seat. YOur daily activities will be approved by Big Brother and transmitted to you via your implanted chip manufactured by GM, Government Motors. Man o Man things are a changing! I am off to watch Soylet Green. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico/New Mexico
  17. Lenny, one of our Rallys needs to be at your shop/home turf for a week. We can all work on our Troopers with your watchful eye guiding us and upgrade to the level each person wants to go. Need pics, specs & cost of the super charger. Now we know who we are chasing. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico/New Mexico
  18. You had one pic that did give an idea of about 15 teeth. What I am trying to determine is where the low gearing comes from, the trans or the diffs? Is the trans a std. car trans with std gearing? rocmoc n AZ/Mexico/New Mexico
  19. Been giving it some thought, I will repair the existing trans. I already have too many projects to be adding another large one. Also my calcs are that it would take between $1500 - $2000 to do the change over even if you were able to purchase a complete wrecked car for aprox $900. Again, too many existing projects calling out for the dollars. Something to do in the future! I do believe at this point since I don't play in the sand that often, I would rather have an auto trans for rock crawling. Boy am I getting lazy in my old age. There was a time I would not even considered a auto in anything. Now almost everything I have is an auto. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico/New Mexico
  20. Kinarfi, I will. From looking at your pics, I come up with a diff ratio of aprox 4.57. 32 teeth on the big gear and maybe 7 on the small gear. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico/New Mexico
  21. One problem is you really need a complete crashed car for the computer, wires & misc. parts. Roof on the house is complete, a little business trip for a week and finally will be able to do some work on the Trooper. I will have to make a decision by then. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  22. Good point, how to lock the tranny? Forgot about this little problem. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  23. Yes I met the WHOLE thing, motor & trans. We now in the Trooper have a car front wheel drive setup turned sideways. I had a similar setup in my SpecRacer Ford only the front wheel drive setup was installed in the rear for better handling. There are much more powerful stock engine & trans combs and would not cost more than a turbo. After reading the turbo thread, it would cost LESS! rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  24. Still working on this darn roof so have not had a chance to work on the Trooper. SOOOO, I have had time to think about the upcoming repair OR should I replace the drivetrain with something with a lot more horsepower? IF you were going to replace the entire drivetrain, what would you replace it with, Honda, Subaru, ?? Also an Automatic trans would share be nice in the rocks like Moab! Also Lenny or Kinarf, did one of you guys have a chance to calc the drive ratio on the diff when you had it a part? If a person was going to replace the drivetrain, it would be important to come close to the final output ratio of the existing trans. Too quiet on here so something to chew on. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  25. Got home last night and picked mine up today. THANKS! rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
