  3. Kool pics and great climb. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  4. The banging of the wrist thu the rocks is what I experience a week ago. I think part of the problem is how crude the rack is. That is one reason my upgrade will include a rack replacement. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  5. No clutch ideas? rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  6. Yeah, I would like to also get a backup belt. Like Kinarfi says, Please let us know what you find. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  7. Now we are both on the same page, More Power! rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  8. Hay, I am like Tim Allen of Tool Time. I trust my iron buggers. There was an episode where he got lost in his '55 Nomad and his wife wanted him to ask of directions. He wouldn't because he said his Nose Buggers were made of Iron and always pointed him North. How could I ever get lost? rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  9. I phoned directly to my local Representatives' offices both in AZ & Washington and sent emails to both on the first bail-out/give away! All I accomplished was getting on there C*ap email lists that I can not now get off of. Did absolutely nothing. They are bought before they ever get into office and I don't have enough money for them to care. Sorry, IMHO it is now a lost cause. I am taking care of family & myself and ZERO hope they will ever doing anything. This is just ruining my morning! LOL! rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  10. Don't need no stinkin GPS! Never get lost! LOL! I will be adding a 12V cig. outlet for a portable airpump. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  11. I'm ready! rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  12. Lenny, are you talking about the grease fitting on the carrier bearing located roughly between the seats? rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  13. Someone a while back on the Arizona site had lost a clutch. There was never a follow up post so not share if it was the real deal. How long the clutch will last depends on the driver. The more you slip the clutch the shorter the life of the clutch. I am placing a greater demand on my Trooper with the larger tires thus the concern to try and have a solution. I am trying to slip it a little as possible but on one hill last weekend things got really wicked. I had to slip the clutch in a major way for the first time ever and this raised my awareness of a future need to replace the clutch. I personally have never blown a clutch in my lifetime on anything. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  14. Just have to pull the engine. Done that before! rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  15. I want to start this thread now hoping it is resolved BEFORE the maintenance is required. The CLUTCH! I believe/know one of the weak links as more performance is added to the Trooper is the clutch. What is the replacement? I have no idea and will not be replacing with the factory clutch. My fall back plan is to take the clutch to a clutch shop and have it rebuilt with strong pad material and possibly strengthen the pressure plate. IDEAS! rocmoc n
  16. After last weekend banging around for hours in the rocks, the steering upgrade has moved up on the list. My wrist took a beating. The bigger rims/tires increases the energy required to control the Trooper in the really rough stuff. Performance was killer but harder to hang on to. I WILL be working on my upgrade and probably will be going with a power steering rack and not a gear box. I am presently looking at the Porsche rack as a friend has a spare from his race car. Looks promising. I will be pulling info from this thread as people post. Kevin, pics of your pump mount would be helpful when you get a chance. This is going to be my next upgrade but it will be a summer project. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  17. IMHO, it does not matter. So long as the rack is sitting in the same plane, movement should be the same in both directions. A lot of older vehicles had different sized arms. This my understanding but someone else please jump in and verify or dispute. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  18. Out riding today and again flying thu some washes and ruts when I heard a clunk. The second time I brought the Trooper to a quick stop. Couldn't find anyway so carefully drove it back to the house. After the Trooper had cooled, I put a jack under the rear lifting the wheels off the ground. Put the trans in gear and twisted the wheel back and forth. Then I saw it, the diff lifting up & down and clucking. The top wield broke away from the support. Boy did I feel relieved thinking I may have broken the diff. This is an easy fix and will be stronger when I am finished. Silver lining, it broke now and now at Moab. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  19. WOW! I never knew they went to alum, just assumed they took the same steel and bolted it. The Rhino that went with us the other day had the factory plastic plates. By the end of the day they were busted and hanging in a couple places. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  20. More pics and VIDEO. I am in two of the videos & more pics. Again I hijacked these from other riders. http://ollefty.smugmug.com/gallery/7487964...483201028_uSqxj http://picasaweb.google.com/azduners04/Chi...eat=directlink# rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  21. No, steel except the new one. Did they use alum when they went to the bolt on plates? rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  22. Agree about the shifting. Royal Purple in the Trans helped a little. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  23. Thanks Lenny for the info. BUT I will continue on the basis if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Still going to stop and let all those little square Chinese gears & shafts align up before I put stress on my Trooper. So far I have had minimal failures and I have not held back on the play with my Trooper except jumping. I really do appreciate your insight on what the parts look/are like. I also double clutch the thing at times, really old school. LOL! rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  24. I have had zero problems with the skid plates and I have knocked the heck our of them. I modified my rear plate because the first Troopers' plates were ALL wielded on with zero access to components. I had to remove it to replace the rear driveling and only replace it then. This would be very low on my wish list. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
