  1. The pics don't do justice to the size of the boulders and hills. Plenty of dings under the Trooper after yesterday. There was a Rhino with us and I do have to say it did a great job. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  2. Has anyone else had this problem? Mine has worked perfectly but I never engage or disengage while moving. IMHO, some of the problems with the lockers & 4wd has come from engaging & disengaging while moving. I always come to a complete stop! rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  3. Here is a link to some pics of the ride I went on today with some great guys & gal from AZ. Had a great time! I hijacked these pics so thanks to my ride organizer, Yamazinger250. http://picasaweb.google.com/Yamazinger250/ChivaFalls# rocmoc n AZ/Mexico

    hello

Welcome, another Utah Trooper. We have to have all the Utah Trooper owner host a weekend of runs. I will be at the UTV Rally in Moab, come on over. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  5. Welcome! rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  6. OK, have to meet you at Coral Pink Sand Dunes. I'm sirius! rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  7. Yes but there is not a lot of adjustment, that is why you have to make the final adjustment to the lower firewall tubing. My post of my tire installed talked about how much adjustment I was able to get out of my Trooper. While there are a lot of threads in the helm, Joyner did not allow for moving the A-arm for ANY adjustment. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  8. Just remember with the 31" tires you have to adjust the front A-arms and hammer the firewall tube a small amount to assure clearance. I will take photos. I know I owe the group a bunch of pics. Have be more concern with finishing the Trooper so I could play again. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  9. An upgrade of the newer machines. I don't have any grease fittings and have not found any holes to add some. I will scrape some paint as recommended and see if I can find something hidden. Remember I have one of the first 50 Troopers. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  10. Mine is front and back. First year not too bad but really getting worse. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  11. I mean to the ground with the larger tires. Going from 25.5" tires/tyres to 31" changes the world for the Trooper. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  12. I am going to back some of the tension off the fronts. I have plenty of ground clearnce now so I can give up a little to soften the springs. Fox Shocks in the future. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  13. My helms & poly bushings are squeaking endlessly. I sprayed some penetrating oil on them for temp relief but it comes back quickly. Anyone else squeaking? Any solutions? Maybe its because we are so dry here. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  14. Coarse but I was comparing to past performance on the same sand. Closes power/blow sand is 4 hours away. Slope is about 45 degrees but it is the large ruts with boulders that makes the challenge. We have tougher hills of which I climbed a couple of weeks ago with the bigger tires, no problem. I didn't trying crawling but powered. Next time I will try to crawl, some time in the next week. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  15. I saw a great dry replacement at the speed shop last week that promised the same results as oiled. Cost was around $45. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  16. Finally got the new skid plate on and everything buttoned up. Took the Trooper out for a little run. I WAS FLYING! Where I use to have to gear down in the sand, just gave it more gas and she took off. That was in 2WD with NO locker engaged. A hill I use to power up a little, I decided to just crawl up. Not even a spin. I was flying across the desert running between 50 - 60 mph crashing thu the washes. I was pushing it on purpose for the first time since the new driveline and rims/tires to see what it would do or what would break. I tore the rear fenders off from maxing the travel. I thought I had cut enough of the fenders away but now there is very little fender left. I am getting it dialed in. Rear tires are good at 24 lbs and springs are great. Front tires are down to 15 lbs but I will take more out. Front springs need to be soften a little more. Could not even feel the washboard. The thing is FASTER with the high final gear ratios with the BIG tires. The powerband has lengthen and is more usable. It just keeps pulling thu the gears. First is still a creeper and I will push it more before Moab. Just Unbelievable, I am soooooo pleased! At speed, no need for power steering but creeping, would be nice. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  17. You will not be able to tell any difference. Trooper is gear so low when I put on my BIG tires which are heavier and changed the gearing, it got faster! rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  18. Thanks for the photos. How in the heck are you having a problem with dust, all I see is MUD! That stuff is really hard on a machine. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  19. It's OK to post in older topics, I do. Seats, no problem but we are both on the smaller side & very light drinkers. LOL! Sooner of later the front drive shaft is going to be a problem. There are NO U-joint grease fittings but there is a single fitting on on the support bearing between the seats under the cover. Temp runs middle of the gauge and climbs with max RPMs. I slow down when it climbs too much, who needs to run 60+ mph in the dirt all the time! No miss here. I would talk to my dealer, soon as you are still under warranty. Don't like the dust and stay out of it; also am solo riding most of the time. I go out after a rainstorm most of the time, YES we get big time monsoon thunder storms here in AZ. Another solution is being the leader. SOOOO, no problem here. I was looking at a better grade air cleaner element at the Speed Shop last Friday. Good luck, rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  20. A lot of the early power steering setups were of that style. They were not the best but would be an improvement. There use to be a kit you could add to a manual steering car or pickup. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  21. It doesn't hurt anything! If you have a 4 wheel independent suspension setup, the camber changes with the load/fuel/passengers/etc. in the vehicle. Not a big deal on the Trooper. You will not improve the performance if you mess with it. Tire wear is only an issue if you drive on hard surface all the time. I would only be concerned is it changes. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  22. Not in the rear. The rear is trailing arms and does not have any effect on Camber. The front is A-arms and does change with sag/movement. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  23. Yes, look at my album and you can see the neg camber. Mine/the early units had neg camber. Its not a problem, IMHO! Look at race cars/trucks and they have neg camber in dirt and black top. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  24. Yes keep us in the loop of how it goes! rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  25. Thanks, even tho I am a Joyner guy I do enjoy watching all the makes. Just programed the Sat. to pick it up. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
