It has been in the low 80's during the day and mid-40's at night. We are currently just South of Guadalajara in a little town called Villa Corona. We are going to move 3 hours to the Pacific Coast and South of Puerto Vallerta (sp). Temps are Mid-80's and low 70's at night. rocmoc n Mexico/AZ

Heard about the electric locks a year ago but nothing to date. I wouldn't wait for electric locks as the manuals have been no problem. Just one less thing to fail. There is suppose to be some body redesigns I have heard. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico

Flatbed & myself are using Fox. Travel is limited to the critical failure angle of the Axle CV joint. Joyner took the joints nearly as far as you can. You can get a little more travel by lowering the diff as Flatbed did and I am doing. There was a little more travel not being used in the compression mode. By lowering the diff so the axle CV joint is in a more neutral position you can add a little more travel, not much. Flatbed will have to share what he has found. I will not be complete until late Jan. King is a good shock but no one until Flatbed has done actual testing. We are both using Fox so that is the only data so far. I talked to Simon the shock expert as OffRoad Warehouse in San Diego today. We talked first about 2.0 vs 2.5 shock. I will summarize, Flatbed is right on mark. 2.5 is a little too big/harsh. The valving would have to be backed down on the damping too much. Therefore Fox 2.0 shocks are the way to go. Remote reservoir is recommended but increases cost. Double springs is the way to go but also increase cost. I will be getting all the required data together and Simon will run it in his computer program for spring rates and valving. I will not have this completed until after we return in Jan. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico

So Koool! I just bought a set of GREAT used 31X10.5X15 rock/mudders tires for the new rims off of Craigslist. They have a little wear but more than I will ever use on the Trooper. I will pick them up on Sat but will not have time to mount them until we get back from the trip. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico

Be careful welding on a gas tank. Have done it but didn't like it. Even if it is empty, it can explode. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico

Hi Flatbed, That is my concern finding tranny gearing low enough for the stock diffs. May have to find a replacement diff if I ever want to go to a different engine & trans. I really would like more power but do not want to go to a turbo. When ya think we will see aftermarket motor parts at the local speed shop. LOL! The HP produced by Honda, Toy & Subaru is outstanding now days. We leave Sunday but will have the laptop with us. See ya in Jan. Thanks rocmoc n AZ/Mexico

Does anyone know the gear ratios of the Trans & Diffs? If not and you have to have work, get the ratios or number of teeth on the gears. If I have to replace the engine someday it will be will something with more POWER so I/you will need the gear rations. Worst case would to be travel to the shop in Phoenix. My sending unit stopped working a couple of months ago. Joyner would not replace but would sale me a new one, but only guaranty the new one for a month. The thing cost nearly $90. I said forget it. My dealer tried to repair and did sort of. Since I have a front hood that opens, I am installing a simple sight gauge or replacing with a simple sending unit with a float arm. I know of a couple other people who's gas gauges don't work. Personally this is one item that I would call over built/engineered and a piece of junk. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico

Funny, here in Southern AZ we build in the valley and don't want anything to disturb the slopes. Just the opposite. What was wrong with widening the old route? Less costly and the critters were already disturbed. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
