  1. I'm wondering if there are any signs of smoke from the exhaust.... if so... what color is it. When this power loss is occuring??? A.
  2. No Lenny, you got me all wrong. All I was trying to say was that there are reasons or purposes for all of the existing components. Just yesterday, an idle issue was resolved using proper calibration of the TPS. Changing or cleaning the IAC had no effect. Also the pushing & pulling of the IAC..... WILL CAUSE DAMAGE!!!! The threaded shaft is only plastic, and can be damaged very very easily. Yes this is experience talking. You are correct that the IAC has no input, but controlling idle by throttle plate opening/position, changes the TPS input. This is not the correct way to control idle on Multi-port Fuel injection systems. Not saying it doesn't work, but may cause other drivability issues becuase of wrong TPS inputs. =) A.
  3. As Erv stated there are reasons for these and other sensors. One major input is the TPS (throttle position sensor). This tells the ECU what the throttle opening is, so proper fuel amounts, among other things can be provided. Eliminating the IAC could cause problems down the road. A proper setting of TPS voltage needs to be done by a qualified tech w/ the proper equiptment. Also, the newest IAC units have been changed from "siemens" to "continental". I'm not sure if these are better or not. What I can tell you is that after replaceing the IAC on a given unit, the problem has not re-occured.
  4. One other possibility is the air intake temp sensor. This is the small square sensor mounted on the side of the intake plenum. Un-plug it and remove it. Buy some throttle body cleaner from the parts house and spray off the little tip of this sensor. These will get piled up w/ dirt and can't take a good reading, causing the computer difficulties in determining how much fuel to deliver. Just a thought. A.
  5. The adjustment on the clutch can be very touchy. I the slave is traveling too far it can actually re-engauge the clutch. The adj. rod at the master cylinder needs to have a little free play in it when not pushing on the clutch. maybe about 1/8 inch. Then the slave rod need to have a slight amount also. It can be very frustrating trying to get it right. I strongly suggest letting the dealer handle it in case there are other issues. A.
  6. While I agree with most of these upgrades, maintaining a good price point and leaving some add-on accessories/upgrades would also be a good idea. I think I will reserve my ideas until I see what they release. A.
  7. Thats ok Mike for me its..... Frequently Arrogant & Obnoxious... lol A.
  8. dumb question?????? what does F.A.O stand for??
  9. who do we buy these Fox shocks from???? When last I talked to Joyner about these, I was told they weren't going to be getting any more of them in. A.
  10. quote:Iplex, I wish you all the best & if you are looking for 1 or 2 consultants who know what they are talking about, you will find 4 or 5 right here on UTV Boards. It's kinda funny that you bring this up Brostar..... I offered this "consultation" to Joyner when I first signed with them, and at no charge, just improved product and better dealer support. Instead what I got was... " Oh yeah"... that would be great..... and....... really, never heard of that happening, or, No we've never seen that happen before yours is the first. I look for better things from Iplex. Sounds like they have already implimented alot of C.A.D. to the upcoming machines. A.
  11. The latest info is they are creating 2 brochures. 1 for UTV the other for sand buggies. I'm sure Iplex will be looking into the productivity of each machine to determine which are the most profitable. I'll pass alng more info as I receive it. A.
  12. If you have ever pulled an engine on a car before, it's not as hard as you might think. Pay attention to wire harness routing. Its easy. A.
  13. It is my "feeling" that the Pheonix operation will stay intact. It seems to be businees as usual from there. There have been no indications that things will change. A.
  14. I'm not sure how the current owners will be delt with. Based on 20yrs of Powersports experience, my "GUESS" would be when the warranty is up..... it's up. But that will be up to Iplex/Joyner. I'm sure there will be a case by case assesment. Personaly I think it would be in their best interest to take care of as much as they can. As a dealer I have been very nervous about this buy out. But I have been re-assured in the last couple of months that Iplex intends to be a top competitor in this market. Only time will tell....... not months...... but probably a couple of years for them to establish themselves. I an only hope for the best. A.
  15. I agree whole heartedly, but..... nobody here will work for the wages that are paid over there. Thats why every other country is moving production to China. I was told once that the average assembly line worker gets $1.50/hr in the plants over there. Not sure if it's true or not but if it is you can certainly see why they would move there. We are required to pay a minimum of about $8/hr. whether they are skilled or not. thats huge by the time the owner pays the rest of the taxes etc. for employment here. A.
  16. to add to this story a little.... Chrysler, before the bankrupcy[sp] was going to release an elecrtic car called a "P-POD". Iplex retained all the rights and is going to use this factory to build Joyners. They will also now offer a 6mo. parts and labor warranty. As was mentioned above, Iplex is committed to making Joyner a #1 product, and a major force in the UTV market. A.
  17. IMHO.... winches are rated for stuck weight. So if your Ranger weighs.. lets say 1500lbs. loaded, you probably would need at least a 4000lb. winch. It's better to go bigger than come up short on pulling power. The standard is probably WARN. very good product and good support. As for the plow the latest greatest set-up is the "quick mount" which is offered by "Moose Industries." This allows for easy mount and dis-mount of the plow, without having to get down on the ground for hook-up. Also the you might preferr a winch w/ a remote. this makes for more comfortable plowing, not having one hand on the dash all the time. Good Luck A.
  18. an oiled/foam filter fitted somewhere above the deck will be the best all the way around. also you may have to trim the inner tube in the air box to get a better fit w/ the Fram filter. A.
  19. If you have the new 09 filter box, the one that uses a square automotive type filter, you can replace the Joyner one w/ Fram # ca-7764. This filter has a screen on one side so that the filter cannot lift on hard acceleration and allow dirt in. A. But the best option is to move the filter out from under the bed so it can breathe cooler/cleaner air. As suggested above.
  20. Most hr meters are run from the engine not the battery. They only count hours of operation based on engine RPM. Not sure about your situation, but I don't thinks it is "key on" time. A.
  21. a handfull of zip ties can be pretty handy, and a small spool of mechanics wire. A.
  22. I agree...... Joyner does have some issues.... so does every other brand. You cant call Polaris, Yamaha, Honda, just customer service. Joyner is growing faster than they can keep up with, and as Americans we have become a Me ME Me Right friggn now society. They are doing the best they can, and like I have said in other posts, they are currently going through a huge transformation that will make them a very strong company. I have been dealing with Joyner for 3-4 yrs. and have had several guys that were great help and good to deal with that left because they became overwhelmed. Please be persistant..... but very PATIENT. A good dealer will be able to help faster than Joyner themselves will. A.
  23. I have noticed in the past, thta some of the pushrod adjustment is incorrect. This would be the pushrod that goes into the master cylinders. It needs to have a little slop when the pedal is released. If it is tight and not able to wiggle in and out slightly it won't allow the hydraulics to bleed off or re-charge for the next application. A.
  24. I'm glad you are happy w the support that you got..... But trust me on this you will get this guy so overwhelmed by this posting that you will no longer be able to contact him. This has already happened more than once with the good guys at Joyner. Posting a good experience is great..... but no names "PLEASE"
  25. do you already have a gas gauge on the dash??? If not then it could get complicated. A sending unit would need to fit in the tank, and then wired to the dash. There are alot of different possibilities, but accuracy of the whole set up would be questionable. Does you Ruesch have ametal or plastic tank? A.
