Southern Utah Jamboree - The next Get Together
Mopartist replied to Kinarfi's topic in Joyner UTV SxS Forum
Is this "get together" still going to happen? I might be able to make it if it's around the end of June. We're still trying to figure out if we're buying a used motorhome; or getting a Toyhauler instead. (Much cheaper to get a toy hauler) Anyways; i've found some camping/riding areas in Eastern Oregon I'm going to check out at the end of May or first week of June. I have a feeling I'll be pumped up to go to Utah after that! -

Really nice Rick. I don't know if you've checked these out; but I used them on my classic mini. They are easy to work with and have many options from remote door pops to standard handles. A bit spendy; but they will never pop open accidentally. They have a surround type of catch. They do require a $50 install kit however (Unless you are a whiz at fabbing sheet metal) http://www.thehoffmangroup.com/autoloc/product.lasso?prodinc=bearclaw

What kind of racecar Roc?

I'm thinking about starting up a target UTV Club in my area. I was wondering if any of you have done a write up of bylaws and rules, organization and charters ? The area I live in doesn't currently have ANY Clubs specifically for UTVs. The problem with that is that other vehicles are classified different, have different requirements and restrictions. Plus here in Oregon; they group us in with Jeeps. Hell; we're not Jeeps! We're 1000 pounds from being a Jeep! I have found some awesome private areas to ride (considering our government has closed off MOST of the wilderness to us.) I'd like to attract other UTVrs to not only go riding; but fix up the trail system leaving it in better shape than when we got there. The general ignorant public thinks we're just dirt bikers, or Jeepers who care only about sredding up the land. (No offense bikrs and Jeepers) I know thats not true for the most part; but thats what these ignoramuses think. Maybe we can surprise them with our care for the land? The thing is that UTVs are here to stay....even though the general public doesn't recognize us as a different kind of off roader. Any ideas of organization would be very appreciated! Thanks in advance guys! -Ken

Thanks guys. I didn't think about low limbs scraping the scoop and filter off the roof. Good point! The main reason I don't consider canvas is because for my personal taste; it doesn't look COOL. I'm a fat old man and the only chance i have of looking cool is through my 4 wheeled toys! (Thus the F1 scoop and the RAM truck; and the Mini Cooper; and Subaru STI; and and and......)

I've been playin around with Photoshop again and came up with this for design. I think I'd rather go with a half door using polypropylene .25 plastic sheeting. It's light weight, paintable, and durable. All I'll need to do is weld angle iron from the seat handhold to the A pillar, and weld some tabs for mounting. I'm kinda old and overweight, but it's low enough to hop over and high enough to protect your legs from exiting the vehicle (hopefully) I'm also going to take the filter up through the roof and mount a F1 type scoop to the roof to protect the filter from draft dust. Maybe like this:

So will it fit with spacers?
-
Not to hijack; because it's within the decription;...........But will stock rear wheel/tire fit on the front with a 1.5 spacer? I'd like to go with the same sized tire all four corners, and I think it will help the "crawl" traction. Plus I can just carry 1 extra wheel/tire with me.

You got a "Book" (Owners Manual) with your Trooper? Oh Man.....My dealer sucked! Thats why they were out of business in 6 months!
-
Wow' I gotta say thats one of the nicest Troopers I've seen! Very Cool!
-
Thanks Lenny; I'll give it a try adding some "toe in". Mine pushes like a plow! Real stable at speed; but I have all my fun at lower speeds.
-
Has anyone solved the steering PUSH problem our Troopers have? These things do not like to turn. I realize that new shocks will make a difference; but anything before a spendy shock upgrade? Lower pressure in the front tires and higher in the back makes it a little better as long as you are acceleratiing. Other ideas?

My state also has the exchange program for Utah OHV. But the main problem is getting from where you stay; to the festival place. It would be crazy to tow with a motorhome each day. I've heard you can park the SXS at the arena; but i would still have to use a 27 ft motorhome to get myself to the arena. It just seems like a bad plan altogether. I think I may go east and north for vacation this year (Unless we wait and go with you guys (The Trooper Crew) in June that is. And thats possible. But it's going to be HOT!) By the way; did you guys ever get it settled when and where?
-
I think they are great. Unless it would take less space to put it all in one folder; they're good where they are. They have been a real help

So where do you Southwestern UTVrs STAY/RIDE when in Moab? From what I've been able to research; you have to be pretty lucky to get a camp spot where you don't have to "TOW" your UTV on a trailer to the riding areas. With the UTV Rally on the Rocks coming up; it looks like there is going to be alot of people stranded at the campgrounds and hotels. Alot of you might be in the same circumstance that I'm in where your state does not allow "street legal" UTVs on the roads. It seems that ONLY already street legal and inspected vehicles can join in the caravan from the Old Spanish Trail Arena to the riding areas. Man that sucks! I was planning on going; but it looks impossible at this point. If I'm wrong; please correct me. I'd really like to go
-
Thanks Banjo; During the Rally; I'm concerned that all the camp areas will be taken. I may just pull the Trooper trailer behind my truck and stay in hotels. At least that way I can tow it to the riding areas. That might be a better way to go for my first trip there. If it wasn't the big Rally; I'd take more of a chance I think.

YES! Lots of shorts !!!!!

Hey thanks guys! I'll check out the coorinates on G-Earth. At this point; we're tenetively also having our inlaws from Nevada joining us with their motorhome. I am a bit concerned about the crowds that will be there for Rally on the Rocks this year. I see they have anew website up now and it's supposed to be much bigger than last year. I'm concerned that all the campsites will be taken; so we may have to dry camp. (Which is OK with me) One question about the street legality of our Troopers. If the local law enforcement is escorting again; do I still need to have it registered in another state for on highway travel? Oregon is very closed minded to off roaders. Hopefully that will change someday; but for now there's no chance of upgrading my registration to get an Oregon plate. Hmmmmm...... Maybe I can use my inlaws address? I have some in Henderson and others in Bullhead.

NEW PROBLEM.....Ok; so my wife and I decided to buy a used motorhome. Now this will eventually cause a new problem. We would pull the SXS behind the motorhome. That means if we can't get a camp spot on the trail (Kokopelli or other trail) then we would have to drive the Trooper to the site from in town unless we want to unhook the camper, and try to find a large staging area on the trail to unload the SXS. Grrrr...... so many restrictions! If any of you know of good camp spots for motorhomes where you can also ride; I'd sure appreciate a heads uo. I purchased a detailed map of the area from the chamber there. Thanks for any guidance you can give. My state of Oregon does not allow on highway use of SXS vehicles even though I have all the lighting to make it legal.

It's interesting that this came up. I was just reading this yesterday about some Chery engine parts being interchangeable. http://buggynews.com/chery-engine-parts-cross-t20820.html

Computer Controler for fuel And timing
Mopartist replied to silverbullet's topic in Joyner UTV SxS Forum
Wow...Bilsteins! Are these the upgraded shocks that newer Joyners have; or strictly aftermarket? Adjustable? Remote reservoir?
