  1. If the carburetor is adjustable, it's probably running a lean air fuel mixture. Smaller engines in cold weather like rich mixtures (more fuel than air) When you come to a stop, choke it just a little bit and see if it runs better.
  2. What was the A.C. Voltage? It needs to put out a certain amount to work properly. And for the regulator to change it to 12V
  3. How old is your battery?
  4. Ohhh, it's kaf450, which is the Mule 1000. Like I said try engaging it while rolling.
  5. I would contact American landmaster. (Formerly sportworks) I've heard they weren't too keen on keeping parts in stock after a few years
  6. Try engaging it while rolling at a slow speed. Is it a 550?
  7. Welcome!
  8. http://utvpartsandaccessories.com/intimidator/ This could be the place to look for parts. I think with the regulator, make Sure The prongs are The same as the plug. more than likely the parts are generic made by Wee Fewl Yu in China. Even though it says made in USA with American steel. Alot of other brands make them in the USA, but parts come from abroad.
  9. Welcome to the forum, Mike!
  10. If you could post a video of it running then dying, that would be great. One thing I would try is take off the air filter, and get either starting fluid or carburetor cleaner, and when it starts to die, spray it into the carb . If revs it back up, it can be narrowed down to a fuel issue. If not it could be a spark issue. Or a valve problem. Which is least likely.
  11. Do you use OEM (Original Equipment Manufacture) or Aftermarket for Fluids and filters? feel free to reply which brands you use.
  12. Yep, for the 550, a OEM mikuni is $170+ $60 seemed to be reasonable. I saw some for $30, or less but I really question the quality at that point. Interesting thing I noticed, I'm used to Briggs carbs made by Nikki or Walbro. This Mikuni uses a metal needle with a rubber tip instead of a metal needle and rubber seat.
  13. Be sure to monitor it CLOSELY. Im sure you know, but gas will dilute the oil, and next thing ya know, (rattle rattle rattle BANG!) :D
  14. I finally decided to take the carburetor off the mule and clean it, Pull it off, piece of cake.... Take off the bowl, here is what it looked like. Then I proceed to pull out the float pin, sigh As you can see, part of the hinge casting broke off. I contemplated JB welding it, but decided not too.Mikuni and Kawasaki are $170-$200 too proud of this carb. I stooped low and bought a $60 off of amazon. Is rather go oem but couldn't in this case. Oh well, nearly 20 years on 1 carb. not bad i guess. never took apart and cleaned, just b12 chemtool in the tank every so often.
  15. does it stay running if you rev it up. I would start it and keep a constant high RPM. Did you put new fresh gasoline in it? I remember one time I got water in the gas in my mule, and it idled like crap and then die, but if I revved it up it would stay running.....
  16. Okay, my 550 is a 2001. It has teeth all the way through the drum.
  17. Wait, are you saying there at barely any teeth in your drum?
  18. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your's Alex. Thankful for the UTV Board 👍 Gobble gobble
  19. Does it smell like gas? And you said with out filter, so you don't fill the filter, correct? Or do you just leave the filter?
  20. If they changed the design most likely they would have changed the part number too, I didn't see any surpercession in the parts list.
  21. Here's an old pic, that piece of metal below the cylinder, stick a flat head screwdriver in where it meets the other piece, it will have grooves cut in it, Stick your flathead in their and push the handle to the left, that will pull the Brakes in and give more clearance
  22. Teeth in the drum look good? Are your brake pads interfering with it? To the bottom left of the wheel cylinder, is a little metal tab with grooves cut in it,get a flat head screw driver and pry that in and it should give your brake pads extra clearance.
