If it were me I would use a thin coat being very careful not to use enough it could break off later and circulate in the engine. I have seen many engines ruined from lawn mowers to race cars due to sloppy work or too much sealer.

You can also jump straight from the battery to the starter to be sure the starter is working. Then back up to the solenoid (if it has one and it's accessible) and jump it to be sure that's not the problem.

If it runs it is not the spark plug. Sounds like a starter wire is loose or broke. Check all the wiring and fuses. Trace the wires from the ignition (key switch) to the starter. Be sure all the cables and wires are clean and tight. Do a battery test. Which engine does it have? If you don't know engine brand post pictures of the engine. My 2010 Sportworks has the Subaru/Robins engine. Let me know if I can help.

What are some larger and/or more aggressive tires that will fit the stock 8" rims? There is plenty of room for a taller tire. This is for a 2010 American Sportworks Bull Dog TW265 with a Subaru/Robins 9hp Thanks.

No, not yet, anyway. But I will keep trying. It gets a little cold here but no snow. Of course it will get hot again within a few days.

Mine is two wheel drive so at least I won't have that problem. And you're right, I don't want any stock shocks from them.

Thanks for the advice. It will keep me from screwing up. I'm afraid if they made all the improvements it needs it would be priced up there with the big boys.

We built new seats within a week of getting it. Bottom was worn out and the back was missing. Wondering if one shock on each side was removed if it would help the stiff ride. By the way, I traded a Kawasaki Bayou 250 that we never rode for the buggy.

After reading all this and doing more research I'm looking around for a new to me buggy. Sure seems folks are proud of them at the price their asking for used stuff.

If you would like, post year and model and I'll look down here for the parts you need. Post a picture if possible. I was told by one of the company's higher ups that all was U.S. built except the engines. Sad to find out different.

The American Sportworks is made in the U.S.A. except the engines that are sourced out. And I hope my 7 year old buggy is not obsolete. I can't afford anything newer.

Thing is that LandMaster and/or American Sportworks does not build the engines. Mine is a Subaru/Robins and many are Honda, B&S or Kohler engines. While I realize it is not as fast or flashy as other UTVs and rides pretty stiff this works great for what I use it for. I'm older at 60 so speed is not all that important. Mostly just cruising around in the woods , getting up some fire wood, hauling dirt or going to a tree stand or blind.

I have a 2010 American Sportworks Bull Dog that is very similar to the Chuck Wagon and my brakes work great. Are yours rear drum only? If so be sure they are adjusted.

I own a 2010 American Sportworks with the Subaru/Robins 285 engine. Mine runs great. There are no old garden hose gaskets or any scrap metal pieces on mine. Before I got it it was used almost daily on a farm and in a huge pecan orchard. As far as I know there have never been any problems with this buggy at all.
