  1. If you keep getting air in the cooling system, its probably not just the pump, your head gasket and maybe your head is blown.. Massimo is famous for overheating
  2. check the exhaust pipe right out of the head.. Prone to cracking and breaking off . ANOTHER factory defect from Massimo Poor Quality .. I implore you to bypass the fan switch and run it 100% when key is on .. MSUs have massive overheating issues that blow head gaskets and warp or crack heads.. And Massimo WILL NOT WARRANTY IT
  3. Well, I was talking about using an automotive type pump, from a Prius, so hot water would not be an issue.. But since the new head, head gasket and waterpump replacement and bypassing the fan control to allow 100% fan operation, the engine runs much cooler. probably 40 degrees cooler now.. I dont think I need additional radiator capacity or electric pump now.. I have run it pretty hard for 3 weekends now and it performed flawlessly in extrmely hot weather .. I am glad the guy did not take me up on $4900 selling price.. I would not take that now.. I Bought it in March 2018 , from TS. It only had 300 miles at that time I was willing to sell it,, but it now has 450 miles and runs perfectly thanks to my great mechanic.. With ZERO help from Massimo Ripoff Motors
  4. bought it in March of 2018 from tractor Supply... well , after another long trip in the woods yesterday, in 96 degree heat, the damn thing performed flawlessly.. that dude should have jumped on it when I offered to sell for $4900.. It is running great finally.. thanks to my excellent mechanic.. and no thanks to the pathetic service dept a Massimo RIPOFF Motors
  5. well. after 6 trips to shop..replacing the cfracked head, bad gaskets, waterpump and bypassing fan to run 100% .. NOW it doesnt run hot anymore.. HOORAY and that awful heat coming up behind my seat is gone too.. Also removed windshield.. that keeps ME from running hot too .. Guess I wont be needing an electric pump after all.....
  6. Good Luck... btw, took mine out yesterday again to the trails at the River... ran absolutely perfectly .. never got hot at all with fan running 100% now.. and I dont have all that hot engine air coming up behind the seats now.. And it was brutally hot outside. in the swamp .... 96* with a 110* heat index.. ran at least 25 miles... My mechanic did a good job.. hopefully this will end my problems from a couple years ... NO THANKS TO THE "EXCELLANT" SERVICE DEPT AT MASSIMO RIPOFF MOTORS .... ps I removed the winshield completely ,,, MUCH BETTER FOR DRIVER
  7. defective chinese gasket .. ask if they can use Yamaha .. shop warranteed it tho.. no cost .. Its running really well now.. but who knows how long
  8. thats exactly what I had.. I suggest you replace the waterpump and bypass the temp switch for fan to run 100% or you will be back there again
  9. 23 mph seems low. My MSU 500 does 38 mph ... on the days that it actually runs .. Oh btw, dont bother calling Massimo... they rarely answer, never call back if you leave message, and if they do, they know nothing and wont help you in any way
  10. ALL HISUN ENGINES... even the Factory rep in Dallas told me they stopped using the HISUN engines.. in 2019 started using Lintao engines because the HISUN are junk and prone to problems .. and the Lintao does not have the overheating issues Hisun has.. So I asked what they were doing for those of us who bought their HISUN models... HE SAID... NOT MY PROBLEM .. I said you should repair or replace them.. he said NOT GONNA HAPPEN ... I recorded the phone call.... Massimo is a horrible company
  11. mine only has speedometer, tachometer and fuel level gauge ..the rest is just warning lights .. temp...battery etc ... btw, when I picked mine up at shop, he had 3 others in there for overheating issues... this is a common problem with these machines
  12. buy a cheap infrared thermometer and check it ..thats what I did
  13. I hope the bugs are worked out finally .. But I thought that a couple times before, only to be disappointed on the trail .... There is no thermostat in mine, I m trying to keep the engine temps as low as I can.. NEW CYLINDER HEADS AND LABOR ARENT CHEAP and shops willing to work on these machines are very limited. .. . my original was cracked from all the overheating or it came cracked from Hisun.. .. We did have fun this weekend as it performed pretty well.. I do recomend you check the temps your fan is set to turn on/off, and if its high like mine. BYPASS THAT SWITCH to run 100%. I would hate to see you learn the hard way.. Mine is not the only one blowing head gaskets.. there are many .. Good Luck.. hope you get to enjoy it..
  14. Yes fan was operating ...The fan would come on but was Factory set at 210* and would turn off at 190* at the switch on the radiator on the return side.. .. so how hot was the engine??? .. WAY TOO HOT... . New Head, new gasket, new waterpump , oil change .Repairs are now complete, .........And I ran it all weekend and was pleasantly surprised it had no issues except it now developed an exhaust leak.. It did not overheat AT ALL, with fan running 100% of the time.. The exhaust leak appears to be the exhaust pipe is cracking just a few inches from the head.. I put about 30 miles on it on trails on the RIVER . .. Also, I pulled a friends Kawasaki SXS out of a big mud hole on the trails with mine.. I made it thru, he got stuck
  15. Well fellows, there JOY IN MUDDVILLE TONIGHT.. I ran it all day saturday and half of today.. it was 95* outside.. It ran perfectly, and NEVER OVERHEATED!!! Finally after months of frustration, and trips to the shop, it is working properly .. We do have the fan switch on radiator bypassed to run continuously when key is on.. Theres far less heat coming up behind the seats now.. It did develope a small exhaust leak, but I dont even care .. cheers
  16. Hopefuly you wont have the same problems... I do HIGHLY RECOMMEND that you bypass the fan switch and make the fan run continuos with key.. It will keep the masive heat these things generate ,down and hopefully save you a head gasket repair.. Good Luck
  17. haha.. no, the idiot bought the new Massimo 400 for $9900 anyway... .because, he said.. IT HAS A WARRENTY!! hahahahaha .....oh well, you cant fix stupid.. at least with mine, most of the problems have been remedied, as it currently is running perfectly!..and it was a cheap investment ... Going to the River this weekend, and its going to be upper 90s, so we shall see how it holds up... cheers
  18. Well, I have managed to dissuade several prospective buyers at both Home Depot and Tractor Supply.. After telling them of the constant problems and pathetic NON-EXISTANT service from Massimo , they went off to look at Honda and Kawasaki .. So that gives me a small amount of satisfaction at least.. One guy simply did not believe me, so I offered to sell him my 2017 Massimo with 312 miles on it for $4900 .. THATS HOW BAD I WANT A HONDA .. He came and looked at it... Hes thinking it over .. It is running good at the moment ..
  19. Has anyone tried using an external electric water pump on these machines? I watched a video on youtube of one installed on a 1000 cc side by side that had chronic overheating issues in hot weather.. He claimed that after installing a Prius electric automotive pump from junk yard, inline in the inlet hose and bypassing fan temp switch, that the engine never overheated again. .. I am considering trying it on mine...................... Anybody else done this? .................. He did not say if he removed the mechanical pump or not.. would it pump thru that pump?
  20. Well, I got it back.. Its running fine, but it always ran fine ..TIL IT OVERHEATS ................. so far , one day and its still working... Maybe I can get more than 10 miles this time before it breaks again ...
  21. Great job.. Hope it runs well, for a long time.... I wish I could work on mine, but 3 back surgeries prevent me from doing mechanical work anymore.. It kills me to have to wait weeks while the only shop in the state that will work on Massimo machines, slowly does the work... Still waiting on mine now..
  22. This Saturday I will bring a camping chair and sit in front of the Massimo unit at Home Depot all day or til they run me off.. Hopefully I can save some prospective buyers the misery of owning these piles of s$#T .. Just my way of saying THANK YOU to the worst company I have ever dealt with
  23. Welcome to the club of dissatisfied Massimo owners.. My 2017 only has 312 miles .. thats all I can get in between 6 trips to repair shops and waiting months for parts.. The Owner in Dallas admitted to me in email that the HISUN engines are junk, they dropped them and use Lintao motors now.. And btw..NO THEY WONT FIX THE HISUN JUNK under any conditions... .. I tried BBB , they are a joke.. Might as well leave a bad review on Tractor Supply.. [ They will delete it ] I did however manager to change several buyers minds at Home Depots and Tractor supplys .. After I told them of my experiences with HORRIBLE customer support, and how bad these units are, they all walked away from pursuing any purchase
  24. On Massimo , the standard code spells out .....S U C K E R .... they are absolute junk ... mine is a 2017..and is in the shop for the 6th time since February of THIS year..
  25. At least you got it to 1600 miles.. I have a 2017 Massimo I bought in march of 2018 BRAND NEW from TS.. it broke on the first day....it now has 312 miles.. and its in the shop for the 6th time since February of this year... THEY ARE ABSOLUTE CHINESE JUNK ... Dont buy one even if its 50% off ... YOU WILL REGRET IT .. I saved an email from the Factory Service REp admitting these engines are garbage , ...they had to source another Chinese engine maker and they are refusing to fix these ..
