2022 Massimo Buck 450 First Oil Change Tips Needed
Bill Hughes replied to Bill Hughes's topic in Massimo UTV SxS Forum
Simply not true.. Just yesterday massimo shipped me a complete new windshield at no charge as a warranty replacement because the lower piece bowed a bit and didn't seal against the upper. I called on Monday. The tech called back yesterday and I sent a photo. Windshield shipped same day along with a side net latch . No charge. So you make a lot of statements you don't seem to be able to back up. Such as finding hundreds of new Honda utv s when no one else can find one and claiming Massimo doesn't honor their warranty when clearly they have been nothing but top notch in my recent exchanges with customer support. . If you don't like your machine, dump it. Why are you wasting your time on this forum whining in other owners ears? -
2022 Massimo Buck 450 First Oil Change Tips Needed

Obviously Mobile 1 is a very good product and if you are using the approved motorcycle type mobile 1 it should perform as well as any other brand synthetic. There's virtually no difference between major brands. -
Massimo upgrades customer support
Bill Hughes replied to Bill Hughes's topic in Massimo UTV SxS Forum
I'll point out I said recently, meaning in the last few weeks. They had a big corporate meeting and reorg. That won't fix problems from 8 years ago and 8yrs of service from one of these with hard use is pretty dang good. I'm sure you'll see similar stories in the Polaris and Honda forums. That being said Massimo certainly needed to improve quality control and support and hopefully they have. One thing they can't control is dealers and I have had a very mixed bag with all brands in that department. Some are pretty good and some are just lousy regardless of brand name. -
Massimo upgrades customer support

Clearly Massimo's association with Lowe's and Tractor Supply Company has pushed them to improve their customer service and up their game all around -
Massimo recently updated their customer support. I know some of us have had less than Stellar response from Massimo in the past but it looks like they've made a major upgrade and taking a big step forward. I entered a a case on their website you can open a case under your account with a broken part under warranty and was skeptical but I got a call back the next day and the tech had me send a picture of the broken part and they shipped out a new part under warranty same-day

Well tell them to send a few to the Washington DC. area. The two Honda dealers here have NOTHING in stock and nothing on the showroom floor and a total of three UTVs coming sometime in the next 3 months, all sold already. No idea when more are coming, but you can place an order to be filled at some TBD time from now, if you pay the deposit plus a $1500 surcharge on top of full retail. What a deal !!!! They did give me a nice brochure though and said if they ever get a vehicle, it'll be the base and I can order options like a windshield and a cover which might arrive in 4 to 5 months. I passed. Your dealer must have cornered the entire Honda North American allotment . Post his address and I'll send over a some Canadian truckers to liberate some of those vehicles.

I just got a note from Media Elect Biden, he's taking care of the oil change, but you have to pay him back. -
2022 Massimo Buck 450 First Oil Change Tips Needed
Bill Hughes replied to Bill Hughes's topic in Massimo UTV SxS Forum
You do realize that virtually every item manufactured in significant quantity is manufactured in China right? And you do realize that Yamaha, Honda, Polaris, Massimo, etc. don't own any of the manufacturing companies in China because China is a communist country so the government essentially owns every business right? So all of these vendors that sell in the US are distributors. They don't make the parts, they may, like Massimo assemble components and subassemblies into finished vehicles in the US, right? You understand that? Now let's look at why this is the case. what do you think the reason is? I'll give it to you. It's not because people don't want to make things in the US, most everyone would prefer that. It's because it more or less IMPOSSIBLE to manufacture anything significant in the USA and not because of labor cost. Labor cost have little impact because most major manufacturing is highly automated, using little human labor. No, the reason is US government regulations and restrictions (and their friends in the legal business) make it cost and legally prohibitive to make metal, plastic, glass, etc. all the basic components of any complex device. No company can survive trying to do major manufacturing in the USA and they can't open a plant in China (which has no labor laws, no EPA, no OSHA, etc. ) because everything in China is government owned. So the only option is partnering with a Chinese company, and so every major US product vendor does that. Honda, Yamaha, Polaris, etc. all the basic parts that need to be made in large quantity are made in China. If you don't like this, then you need to think hard about how you vote and pressure politicians to be more US friendly and less China friendly. That's the real problem. It's not an excuse for Massimo's lack of attention to customers and quality control. They could do better, but these problems are not exclusive to Massimo and it's a symptom of poor US government and huge over-reach in regulations and favors to special interest and outside influences. If the US government and corrupt politicians would clean up their act, companies with poor products and poor customer services couldn't survive, As it currently stands, high quality and good customer service is too expensive and too much legal and regulatory lability to compete in the USA. Sitting back an blaming companies struggling to survive won't fix it and the current US administration is tacking on more and more odious regulations which have crippled the supply chain and manufacturing, so hang on to your wallet, its going to get worse. -
Massimo buck 250 loud knock on start up
Bill Hughes replied to Jason Dickman's topic in Massimo UTV SxS Forum
Your battery sounds very weak. Try starting with a booster or a new battery to check. If you wind up getting a new battery, get a AGM/SLA maintenance free battery. -
I seriously never said that, read it again. I said the parts are made in the same factories in China and that is very likely true, Honda, just like Massimo and most others has assembly plants in the US (because otherwise they would have to pay major import fees for importing complete cars, ATV, etc.), but most parts are not manufactured in the US. Honda does have superior quality control and engineering, but you do pay for it. I don't see how the Honda dealers( I visited just 2 weeks ago) in the 100 mile radius here have nothing in stock and little idea when they can get anything and your local dealer happens to have everything. Must be a major Honda logistics snafu somewhere if that's the case.
-
Gel batteries are even better than SLA/AGM since they can withstand more vibration, but Gel is usually a lot more expensive.
-
Number 1. Throw away the factory battery (actually trade it in for core deposit) and spend $80 for a sealed AGM motorcycle battery which has no caps and needs no maintenance. Number 2. Put a nice rubber pad between that metal bar and the battery. Number 3. Clamp-er down and forget battery problems for the next 3 years.

Well , it might be a shame, but nothing is manufactured in the US these days so complaining it's Chinese is a waste of time because EVERYTHING is Chinese and you can thank the US government for that. It's simply impossible for anything significant to be made in the US due to EPA, FDA,, OSHA regulations, lability insurance, lawsuits etc., etc. . Your $10k UTV would cost around $30k if made in the USA. 2nd, try calling Polaris tech support. I can guarantee you won't find a live human being to talk to. Parts? good luck. The Polaris and Honda dealers don't even have a UTV on the showroom floor and no idea when vehicles or parts will be available. So you can spend your $18k (plus $2k for a windshield and a winch) and get a Honda (in 3 or 4 months) and it will be a bit more reliable, but it will still be assembled from parts made in the same Chinese factories that Massimo and etc. etc. are made in. And yeah, the Honda dealer will work on it for you (but he won't work on your Polaris) , but you better be walking in with $100s hanging out of your pockets because you ain't getting out of there for less than a $250 oil change. Consider these things when you vote in November.

Just to be clear there are a variety of "Mobile 1" Synthetic Oils. for example Mobil 1 , 4 Stroke Motorcycle Engine Oil Racing 4T Full Synthetic 10W-40 meets or exceeds the requirements of JASO MA2.

I haven't tried this yet, but seems the Massimo T-Boos 550 comes with a wireless remote winch receiver already installed in the winch control box. Some owners have purchased a winch remote from Amazon and reprogrammed the remote transmitter to match. It's a simple process to pair the remotes. Hoping the Buck 450 has the same setup. Here's an example : https://www.amazon.com/Recovery-Wireless-Control-Handset-Controller/dp/B08QV3Y4HP/ref=dp_prsubs_2?pd_rd_i=B08QV3Y4HP&psc=1 I'm going to try this and I will let everyone know the results.

Coleman, Rural King, HiSun 550 fuel filter advice
Bill Hughes replied to Ridge Runner's topic in UTV General Discussion
If one end has dimples in the face plate, that end should face the fuel pump, the other end toward the engine. -
I've looked and tried to find any access to the in/out wiring for the Buck 450. I see no way to attached an aftermarket remote to the winch. The control leads are not exposed anywhere as far as I can find. Looks like they go from the sealed relay control box to the dash switch almost entirely sealed in the wiring harness. Anyone have any ideas how to do a winch remote connection on the Buck 450 without slicing into the main wiring harness? The winch switch is the leftmost in the photo. Looks like the wiring is heat shrinked to the terminals and it's virtually impossible to get to the back of the switch anyway. This photo was taken from the passenger side wheel well reaching as far as I could with my phone between everything that's in the way. Looking for suggestions and if anyone has added a remote to the BUck 450, please share your knowledge.

I got this from another Massimo owner. Looks like there is no easy way. T-Boss 750, same problem. Pop the switch pop-outs out, tape your wiring to something stiff like a coat hanger wire and extend the wire thru the hole from the back. Connect to the switch then pop the switch into the hole from the front. If you have a common +12 or ground to each switch, prewire a mini "harness" to go between the switch holes. You may have to reach the harness leads with a hooked wire from the front and pull it through. If you can see it with your camera you can get a wire to it. I was able to get to mine from in holes in front of the firewall area.

Unfortunately for the Massimo Buck 450 there is no factory winch remote and no port installed for adding a remote.

Talked to Massimo Tech Support. They say you have to access the switch panel from backside by going under the vehicle. Doesn't sound easy or fun. I'm going to keep looking. It's too cold outside to do much. I want to see what's behind the battery if I remove it. And also if the top panel of the dash when the storage bins is removable by taking out the the kex cap screws. Here's a photo of the switch panel and USB charge port I took from the passenger side wheel well. Not a lot of room to work from that angle. Might be more accessible from underneath the vehicle. I can't really tell without a lift.

Not inside the cab, there's nothing removeable as far as I can see. I'll contact Massimo tech support and see what they say. There are blank rocker switch covers and an Aux power port cover there. Surely there's a way without disassembling the entire UTV!

There's nothing in the manuals. I don't see any access from inside the cab, Hate to think you have to try to do this form under the vehicle. The 450 has no access from the battery compartment that I can see like some UTVs do.
