Possibly the one-way bearing is slipping or warn.
That is what hold the machine back.
Thanks that is what I was thinking. It is intermittent so maybe over the Winter I will look into replacing it.

Going down a 20 deg hill engine is holding UTV back. Then something releases like going into Neutral and makes a loud clacking noise. Have to use brake to slow UTV down. Then once level it shifts back into gear. Have done shift extension does not pop out of gear.

I have a coleman 400 utv that I use for hay for cows. It grinds in reverse bad. How can I get part to fix this problem. Currently only can use in forward. Adjusted cable bunch of times. It either grinds in forward or reverse. So I adjusted it for forward use. So aggravating. Wasted $10,000.00 . Should have spent $3,500.00 more dollars and bought a Honda,Kawasaki, Yamaha, Kubota, kioti, etc. . Please advice is needed.
If UTV is under warranty as mine was they may ship you a new extended shifter. Will take many months in my experience.

Here is my correspondence with the warranty department. Modified my shifter works great. Not holding my breath for new shifter. Emailed Martin a few times no response. Maybe this will help someone with the same issue. Why should you pay for shifter if it is a defect?
Martin Zaragoza <[email protected]>Thu, Jul 14 at 6:48 PMGood afternoon Mr. Woodruff,
I did look into the option of getting that part sent out to you. We are currently on back order for those parts, but we are able to place the order and have it shipped to you once available. If the issue continues after the replacement, please still give us a call before taking the unit to an unauthorized service center. We are happy to help in anyway we can.
Thank you,
Martin Zaragoza

Thanks Joe. I ordered a toggle switch so I can turn it on and off. Will check to see if I have bubbles. Engine was under hi load I was pulling a gravel driveway grader.

Found switch at back side of radiator, driver side. Jumpered it fan runs, guess I need a new switch.

Coleman 400 Anyone know the location of the fan 75 degree C temperature control switch. Would like to check for power or jumper it to see if fan comes on. Thanks

Another little thing I did was lubricate the brake pin at the bottom of the brake assembly. It has a rubber boot covering it. I slid it back with a screw driver and squirted some white lithium grease in it and so far no more squeaking.

You can do warranty work yourself, and not void warranty.

Just modded my shifter great fix. UTV was popping in and out of forward and reverse. Now you can feel it click into gear. Thanks Bryan

Update on slippage in transmission. Don't use synthetic or semi-synthetic motor oil. Thought I was doing a good thing by using UTV/ATV semi-synthetic oil. Owners manual states if you use high quality oil it might cause clutch slippage. Changed motor oil and used Dollar General conventional motor oil 10W-30 and raised idle speed to around 1700 RPM. Most of the issue is gone, will change oil again after I put some hours on the current oil.
