  1. Looks good Gumball that's what I need out here where mud is a major part of going off road. I know about the plastic roll but unfortunately nobody imports it. Good job. Cheers Mike.
  2. I found this device yesterday called a FMU or fuel management unit that automatically adjust fuel boost to the engine when required. The FMU is plumbed in after the stock regulator and works by reducing flow back into the tank and increases the pressure. Lenny, from what I can make out, this is a simple way to get extra psi of fuel to feed your super charger so you might already have one, but you will need to upgrade the fuel pump for sure. No computer reprogramming is needed, but the FMU will have to have the correct calibration for your supercharger. Here's what I mean http://www.superchargersonline.com/content.asp?id=84 Hope this helps. Cheers Mike.
  3. The external stock pump for the 800cc & 1100s is only rated at 3 Bar and 115L/H. 3 Bar equals 43.51psi, however the fuel regulator is rated at 55psi so adjusts the pressure up & then on to the fuel rails at this factory setting. The upgrade external fuel pump (thanks to Art) is the Bosch 0 580 254 910 . It looks just like the stock pump with the same colour blue plastic wrap and it's the same size so will fit the stock bracket. It is however, an upgrade because the specs are 5 Bar (73.5psi) and 130L/H . Don't worry about the extra flow, that's feed back into the petrol tank. I do see one major benefit for upgrading your fuel pump and just to quote from the Troopers owners manual "The temperature of fuel has a great influence on pump function. When working under high temperature for a long time, the pump pressure will drop rapidly if fuel temp. is over a certain value....." The Bosch 910 fuel pump will be able to cope better than the stock fuel pump in this saturation by having more fuel pressure. So for you guys & gals riding around in the desert all day long and have experienced the engine missing, stopping or hard to start a hot engine, that could be why. Kinarfi, could you put the Bosch 910 fuel pump in the Parts, Pieces, and Information for our Troopers please. Cheers Mike.
  4. Roc, just thinking further with a donor engine & tranny for the Trooper and found out a Subaru engine could possible be to wide. That is a Boxer engine anyway. Although you do get a pretty good balanced engine and a low centre of gravity, at the end of the day she's a fat engine and the plugs are down low which can't be that great for river crossings. I have however come up with another possible engine. The wife's car is a Toyota Gita which I think you call it a Lexus IS300 over there which has a fantastic engine in it and it light. The bonus is, it is a AWD & the tranny is a 5 speed auto tiptronic (the best of both worlds). You would still need the transfer box I would think but I've done a quick measure up and yep she would go in with maybe the Rad. moved up onto the cargo bed. The max power is a crazy 220PS (217 BHP or 162 kw) @5800 rpm. That's more than enough from this lite aluminium block which has a power to weight fig. of 143 bhp/ton in the car. Don't get me wrong, I think the Trooper's powerplant is fine but it's fear to say, "it's got me licking my lips". The Lexus engine is the 2JZ-GE and here is what I mean and is for sale on ebay USA now for $1k. with an uncut wire harness, ECU and the Tranny. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/99-Lexus-SC...45#ht_806wt_938 Cheers Mike.
  5. OMG, your right. On ebay there is a good range of motors at a good price. If you have already done a suspension upgrade, the extra weight of a bigger block will be OK. The Subaru's are AWD so will have to run through a transfer box I guess. What to watch out for is size, you know, will it go in the gap without to much dramas lining up the drive shafts (will that make the donor engine to high or low) and the wiring. Not a bad option at all. Cheers Mike.
  6. Roc, if you are thinking of replacing the drivetrain and instilling a auto tranny, why not go the whole hog and replace the motor too. It would be a lot easier but would cost more. I'm not a fan of autos in a 4x4 but if that was the case or not, it would have to be a Subaru. Someone's got to do it one day. If you muck around in the shed with that in mind you could end up with something like this. But the engine would be in the back and have better off road ability. Just a thought. Cheers Mike.

  8. Hi Art, as it happens I've done a lot of research this week about Kymco and it's all good. They are well organized, have all areas covered and make a quality range of products. A very formidable competitor indeed. Man, they are heaps bigger that would i thought. Cheers Mike.
  9. Lenny, it was my understanding that the Commando diff problems were just the mis-shimmed teeth on the gears. I just wonder that in your case that caused the gears to walk away from their settings slightly making them to far away from the ring rear if that is possiable. I don't think that happened with the Commandos, maybe they snapped because the strength was less than the Troopers. Anylizer might have the inside word with that issue. Cheers Mike.
  10. I think your find that the Commando gears in the front and rear diffs where not meshing correctly. In other words one gear would ride on the top of the teeth instead off fitting the gap fully. The result was the tips of the teeth snapped off. Not too dissimilar, different problems with same result. All new Commando from the middle of last year have correctly shimmed diffs. Cheers Mike.
  11. Even though I import Joyner products in NZ, 80% of my daily hits on my website come from mainland USA so what I've done is included the top three dealers that I have found in the last three years in my mind that you should consider buying off, if they are in your area. It's just a guide, however the reason I have named these three Dealers is, in no particular order, product knowledge, websites, trust, after-sale service, range of products, after-market products, proactive on forums such as ours, and feedback from customers that I have heard about. There are a lot of Dealers who are more on the Buggy side of Joyner that could be named too, but because I deal more with Joyner UTVs and get UTV inquiries from the States, these are my top three and yes Tim, you make the grade. I hope that helps any future buyers in any way. http://www.lifestyleutvs.com/apps/links/ Cheers Mike.
  12. Hi Megz, how's motherhood going? I was having a look at McCoy's website the other day & looks like they have a lot of new stock. Any info on the 2010 models and or new models. Cheers Mike
  13. I've sent you a PM Todd. Cheers Mike.
  14. Thanks Cinda, sounds like they came out of the same mould. I did a quick edit on that post because I was rambling on a bit. Back to business... I mentioned the zip upgrade because when the mud dries in the zip area where it is under tension, it separates. The better quality marine zips handle this problem as well as being more water tight. Cheers Mike.
  15. Well I have had an absolute crap of a week. My Uncle who has been fighting cancer for 20 years has finally lost his battle but the real shock was the man who designed and made my Renegade Enclosure, Leigh at only 47 years old, passed away, however my 98 year old Grandma, bless her, survived 3 small Strokes this week. kandlinaz, don't throw away those soft doors, your need them for winter but I would suggest you upgrade the zips. If you don't, your know what I mean the next time you go through mud with them. Upgrade to thick plastic marine grade zips. brostar
  16. I'd leave comments on Ruesch vids that are on youtube and invite them to have a look at UTV Boards. I don't think I have seen an organized forum for your brand yet, so it's just a matter of one of you to start the ball rolling. Cheers Mike.
  17. Hi ruesch 95 and welcome. I have read alot about Ruesch and I'm impressed with both machines and the Company itself. They have faced the same battles as Joyner with the American public and like Joyner, are going forward. PM admin and ask for your own Ruesch section and hopefully it will grow as more Ruesch owners find you but in the mean time hang out with us, I'm sure all of the Joyner guys and girls will make you feel more than welcome. Cheers Mike.
  18. Kymco is going into partnership with Kawasaki and will be manufacturing a series of motors in China. While Kawasaki operates eight facilities in China, only one supplies the company's Consumer Products & Machinery division. I guess we are all about to learn more with Kymco and that will pretty much make the Kawasaki's with the Chinese engine 100% made in China. Cheers Mike
  19. Not yet had that pleasure. I was referring to the circlip that holds the front of the rear driveline. flatbed had no worries but I couldn't move it with two pry bars so got my mechanic to do the deed. He made a slide hammer that worked well. I like the sound of that roll plastic you mentioned. I'll check it out, thanks. Cheers Mike.
  20. Kinarfi, it's strangely quite over on RA now most of us old Joyner members their post here or on Joyner Forum. The UTV section does not get hit for days on end. I think all the crap that went on was because they saw a threat because they recognise a good Side X Side when they see one. Now the Rhino has turned into a Killing machine, the Prowler 951cc has bigger problems than the Trooper had to deal with the and the RZR has had multiple issues, those bullies are now busy wrenching and not typing. Life's sweet, what goes around comes around. I think the only one to come out of all that was rocmoc, who always held his head high, didn't defend by putting the boot in(like me) because he recognised the fact that "it's all about getting out there and doing it, in whatever you drive". So Admin, for me it's here and Joyner Forums with the occasional look at RA. Cheers Mike.
  21. Welcome Ernie & I enjoyed reading your 1st post. The first Trooper's certainty needed more refining like most other new products, there is only so much in-house testing a company can do. Artic Cat is going through the same process as Joyner with their new Prowler & will be a good test for them to see if they will handle it as good as T.J USA did.The real test comes from you, the consumer in the real world. It's only fair that you, as a buyer of a new design receives full support from that manufacture. Hopefully you got that. Those circlips sure do work well at what they were designed for but they are a pain to get off. It's mud season over here for me and the #1 next upgrade for me is extended fenders. I'm in two minds whether to go with rubber like yours or get a fibreglass fab. done. Have you got any other pics of your fender extenders? Cheers Mike.
  22. plumber, because of the off-set Fairlead on the Joyner winches, wire tends to bite in tight. This does happen with all wire rope winches but is worse with this off-set. Two things you can do. 1: Make a new plate to house the Fairlead correctly in front of the drum or 2: Replace the wire rope with Braided rope. I guess the sensible thing to do is both but the Braid will handle angle pulling and loading on to the drum better than wire. 1/4" rated at 3800kg is the one to go for. It's rated higher than the wire we are using. Don't be tempted to go for a stronger Braid because your loose out on length that can be feed on. Here's what I mean. http://www.4wdbits.co.nz/ProductDetails.aspx?productID=958 Cheers Mike.
  23. How happy are you with UTV Boards? Have they helped you out personally or have you helped some-one with a problem? With me it has hooked me up with people in the same dilemma as me, in other words, I've got this new product and what do I do with it, or how do I fix it or make it better? UTV Boards has helped us all has in it, all be it just a forum. I saw an opportunity with UTV Boards when RA was not working for us as a group and they embraced us as they would any group, and now it's time to re-pay admin for supporting us. Ad-min has just started another forum called Autoverve and just like UTV Boards they are going to be pro-active and support anybody and everybody. It's time to support the origination that has supported us (think about that for a minute) and support them. This is not compulsory or even necessary but if you want to learn more about what tows your Trooper then cheak out Autoverve and have a swiz at what my 1st post is, http://www.autoverve.com/ C R there Cheers Mike
  24. NZD$800 which on today's exchange rate = USD$468.08 which is very reasonably but bare in mind New Zealand has a large Marine Industry with all related services because most areas are coastal so quality and price is very good. Areas like California and Florida would be the same I imagine. I would also envisage enclosures would be a major plus with the winter months you guys all seem to get whacked with. An enclosure like this and a heater unit that you can buy for the T2s & R2s through Team Joyner, you would be as snug as a bug in a rug when it's cold. Cheers Mike
  25. OK, I went down to the boat ramp at the beach & what I just said above happened. Four seasons in one day. I left with the sun out for the beach (less than 1 km) and by the time I had the R2 off, it was raining. Took the shots anyway, got home (1 minute later) and what do you know, it was sunny again. Buggar! Anyway, at least you can see what it's like in the wet, and yes it was bone dry inside the enclosure. Cheers Mike.
