These are the photos of the aftermarket Renegade enclosure I told you about. The materials used are a better quality than stock and the design is more user friendly for those who want to take the whole enclosure off or on in a matter of minutes. This is probably of more importance to me because of where I live you can have all four seasons in one day. The plastic clears are very thick and the vision is up to glass quality. It has been stitched on the cover under tension to keep it nice and tight. The cover its self is PVC which I'm told lasts forever and the added bonus is cleaning up the mud is a breeze with its non-stick exterior. The photos don't really do it justice so I'll shoot down to the beach and take a couple of promo shots. Cheers Mike.

I have just had a full enclosure made for a Renegade from scratch by a marine trimmer here and it is very very good. I'll take some photos tomorrow next to the stock Trooper enclosure so you can see the difference and post it in the Renegade section. Seeing is believing just how good this enclosure is. This is what I use to spray over scratches, marks and rusty welds on all Joyner vehicles. It is a near perfect match (when dry it's hard to see where you have sprayed) for the black painted areas and it's made in the States so should be available from stores such as the Home Depot. This product is so good that I have used it on bare metal without a primer on all my tow bars that we make with no problems at all. Two coats are needed for bare metal. Trust me on this one, you wont be disappointed. The product is Rust Master by Zynolyte and the link for more info is http://www.zynolyte.com/zynopages/rustmaster.asp For a large area like what Mopartist is doing, I would recommend you use one of Zynolytes three primers which you can find with the above link. Mopartist, one primer and two epoxy's should be enough for your job. The beauty is, it's so quick and simple with no mess. You know those areas where you can see rust coming through normally where the welds are above the floor or on the tray areas for Commandos & Renegades, don't use CRC use Rust Master because it stops rust, coats it and tidies the area up. Sounds like you all had a blast. Thanks for the report and pics. Sorry to hear about the driveshaft Cinda and George but it sounds as if it didn't get you down too much. Did 8 turn up plus any dealers in the end? If not, something to work on next year. I get the feeling it could be ten fold for the next one so the 1st Jamboree will always be more personal for you all. showa, it's a funny old world, I'm down here wishing it was warmer and drier. It's turned to custard weather wise in NZ with driving rain, thunder storms, tornados, huge water spouts, hail, snow about 3 hours south of Auckland and cold, cold, miserable cold damp wet wind. Give me some of that hot dry weather any day. I know, grass is greener syndrome. Can't wait to see the other photos or possible any videos. Cheers Mike

I was thinking straight off, water around the spark plugs. Going on what you have said, it is water somewhere. How about the fuses themselves. Have you taken them out, wiped them dry and sprayed WD40 or CRC? Also check the battery leads and wires coming immediately from the battery and the connectors there as well as any big fuses that you might find in this cluster. This has caused similar problems before and it was water. Cheers and good luck with that, Mike.

Now your really making me jealous. I'll tell you what, I will sit in my Trooper in the garage downstairs set up the TV and watch it live on Sky TV, have a couple of beers and think of you guys. Problem is the temperate is down to about 8 to 15 degrees now and it will be half that in the garage. Make sure you take and post a group photo of the Troopers and you guys lined up in front of your machines so the rest of us can see what we are missing. Cinda, did you get an upgrade winch? Not a good look for SXS mag. They have failed to kick on from last years Shootout by reducing the models, adding no name brands and spreading it over 4 months. Never mind, there's always next year and plenty of room to improve, but it does leave the door open for other magazines to do a UTV Shootout how it should be...........with independent experts doing the testing and specs and the journalists reporting the results. SXS use their journalists to test the UTVs and if you remember last year one couldn't change a manual gearbox in a Joyner and they gave 5 out of 5 for safety to the Rhino(the only utv to get this rating) only for the Rhino to be pulled off the market after 46 deaths. In this years shootout SXS has conveniently left out a safety section. Something smells and they need to gain trust if they want their mag survive. Side X Side Magazine, print facts and not what people want to read! Cheers Mike.

Looks bloody good Lenny. If I was you though, Id be pretty keen to get cracking on those new fenders. The reason being containing debris but more importantly with those bigger tires stopping small rocks becoming small bullets. I reckon if Kevin can tempt you up to Red Deer to do the same to his Trooper, he would hold on to his Mattracks. Cheers Mike.

Good advice Kinarfi. There is a design flaw with the Trooper winch as most of you know all ready. The Fairlead that guides the wire in is off centre and if left to wind in unattended it will overlap too much on the left of the Drum and this can cause it to jam. The fix is an after market plate to centre the Fairlead correctly. Cheers Mike.

According to the winch manual which you should of received with your UTV on page 15, "Trouble Shooting/ Symptom/ Motor does not turn on/ Possible cause/ Water has entered the motor/ Suggested Action/ Allow to drain and dry. Run in short bursts without load until completely dry". This sounds like yours so hopefully all will be fine if you let it dry. I know it's tempting to spray CRC or WD40 but only proceed after checking out your not introducing slippage any where. Cheers Mike

Just wondering if anyone has added wheel spacers to their UTV yet? I know with the Trooper you are already as wide as a UTV gets but with even more width comes more stability. Problem for some might be too much width for narrow tracks. These are available at T.Js so someone must of tried them out. Any thoughts? Cheers Mike.

And now this http://cpsc.gov/cpscpub/prerel/prhtml09/09172.html Makes you wonder though, Side X Side Mag gave the Yamaha Rhino the "2008 UTV of the year" billing and a perfect 5 out of five for safety. No other UTV achieved that high standard when clearly other UTVs in that line-up where better designed to reduce roll-overs and 5-point safety harness to boot. Yes, the driver of any fatal crash that has made a mistake has to take some blame but if the Rhino was not so narrow and top heavy you would have more forgiveness for getting it wrong. One thing is for sure, Side X Side got it's safety rating grossly wrong for the Rhino and after 46 deaths it will be very interesting to see what they say about it in the 2009 SXS Shootout due out shortly. Johnsand has gone on many utv forum sites letting people know what happened to his daughter only to face a load of negative replies including this site. What I'll say to that is "what if it was your son or daughter"? Through his actions safety standards are going to improve with the Rhino and hopefully that will save someones life. Cinda the T4 is long but it's only too long if the length makes it not capable. The T4 handles that length no worries at all with only the steering a little difficult on tight tracks. You and I both know that when you guys all meet up that you and George will show just how capable off road your beast is. Book in a back seat or two for me next year please. Cheers Mike.

Cinda, that sounds awesome and & very tempting however commitments will stop me make any additional plans for the rest of the year.
