  1. New Zealand has in place a "Buy NZ Made" programme for many years now with incentives and a logo sticker on NZ made goods. It's pretty much died a natural death now but is still out there. There were many obstacles to overcome and in the end it was just to hard to compete with imported goods. Some issues that got in the way were the fact that the NZ Government (who set up the programme) all ready had in place trade agreements with other countries that can not be broken. Now we have an agreement with China it's a case of getting in behind this closer economic agreement between us and them. The pay off for NZ is we have secured meat and dairy products amongst others to boost our exports to China. The farmers income from this helps build the countries growth, so we all get something out of it. If you don't import products from other counties they won't import from you, however if the USA did find a nation that would except your one way traffic, the increase freight costs with shipping back empty contains would offset its profits. The world is getting smaller and smaller though trade agreements and it's a snow ball that can't be stopped, right or wrong. Jimmy your going to hate me but it looks like NZ beef will solely be used by MacDonald's and NZ is on the verge of signing a Closer Economic agreement with your country. The other thing is, your happy or not with your RZR with China made parts, either way if it was 100% American made the retail price on a new one would shoot up, making new buyers look at alternatives anyway. Cheers Mike.
  2. Red Rider, when I 1st saw a photo of these, I thought they were fugly, but with the extras you have instilled it looks great. Congats and happy driving with your new Honda. Cheers Mike
  3. I have got some video footage of my Trooper going up a very steep heavily rutted track that would make anyone a bit nervous attempting to go up for the 1st time and it was just a walk in the park so went back the next week when it was raining to give it a decent test in the mud. Again I got a video of it and although this was more of a test, the Trooper got up no worries. A couple of Jap 4x4s didn't get very far up and had to back down. Having said that, all vehicles have their limits EVR JR it's just you will have to go a long way to find yours. Cheers Mike.
  4. Here I am, sorry about the no contact for a while and I don't wont to bore you all but it was down to a number of things including since Xmas, holidaying, my teens misbehaving, my computer deciding it had enough and packed up as well as getting in some time on the Trooper. Before Xmas I was just good old flat out doing this that and the other. I have been watching from time to time what's been said with great interest especially the shock mods with Kinarfi, Lenny and flatbed. Brilliant stuff. I have had a couple of really good trips out on the T2 however I reckon she would be so much sweeter with these mods. Cheers Mike.
  5. This full canvas enclosure was made by Joyner and is new to the market. There is a hard enclosure available too. With my canvas enclosure, I was not happy with the design so I've had a zip added to the front windscreen, marine hardware fittings to the firewall and eyelets to the sill by a marine upholsterer. The video was an attempt to show the difference between the plastic screen and open air by flashing the camera in & out of the cab. If your worried about a plastic windscreen not having good vision don't be because it's no worse than glass however I would recommend making these changes because of heat build up on a hot day and more importantly for mud bogging because mud these plastic windscreens equals poor vision at best. She's a rip snorter of a day over here and it's forecasted to get up to 26c(which is about 80f) so I'm going back up to Moirs Hill see how much better it is like this and I'll take the camera. Cheers Mike.
  6. I tried posting a video of the Trooper with a new canvas enclosure here to show what the vision was like looking through the plastic windscreen, but I could not so I opened a youtube account and posted it there. The link is and it will give you a fair idea what the vision is like & a NZ bush track. This one was a closed forestry rd that wouldn't of seen a truck in years. We did find a truck but that was the end of that track. The vision through the windscreen is surprisingly very good but I still decided to add a zip and now you get the best of both worlds. The photos of the zip are here: http://community.webshots.com/album/568944807yrkoaGCheers Mike.
  7. I'm in NZ so no good for me but there are several Trooper owners on this site that would be interested. If you need a vehicle for fitting out purposes, I'm sure one of them would let you use their Joyner. Cheers Mike.
  8. G'day Dylan Motor Sports and welcome top UTV Boards, I just had a look at your website and I'm impressed. Have you got any plans for making aftermarket Joyner products? A lot of Commandos, Renegades and Troopers have been sold now, but there are not to many aftermarket goodies out there for them. Cheers Mike.
  9. Longtrack Lady that was funny for sure. Here is a triple decker from NZ
  10. Photos of the Modified Trooper canvas enclosure with a Zip down front screen, Velcro straps and Marine fasteners have been added to Webshots.... http://community.webshots.com/album/568944807yrkoaG . Make sure you read the description under each photo. I tried here but on this occasion, I could not do it for some reason. Cheers Mike.
  11. Detbohica, a T4 with a hard top enclosure and canvas doors with a roof/gun rack is on it's way to me as we speak. NZ gets bucket loads of rain and the T4 will be used for Transporting elders on Maori land and for hunting. I would think just the roof rack for you in Mexico would be all you need. MegZ, I have just picked up two Trooper canvas enclosures that I have had modified and she's good as gold. I changed my mind from my last post concerning the upgrades after I took the T2 for a blast with the stock enclosure on. What I've had done is added eyelets for the sill instead of Velcro, a zip for the front screen with tie downs and Marine hardware to secure the lower Firewall and rear lower panel ends. I was going to go the whole hog ,with making it easy to take off and put on but now my thinking is just leave it on. I will post photos tomorrow (my daughter borrowed my Camera) and it's fair to say,"this is the way to go". The upgrade cost was nz$225 for two enclosures. Cheers Mike.
  12. Thanks for that, it's called a disclaimer and all companies do it these days and T.J USA is no different. Good on them for putting this on there web site. Don't give all the credit to Team Joyner, Polaris have Disclaimer warning stickers on their machines and printed in their manuals just like Joyner do. So good on you too Polaris for that, but I wonder after the recent deaths and injuries with their tipsy RZR they are going to add " Serious injury or death can result from turning or climbing a hill with a RZR" . Cheers Mike
  13. I had a look on this forum and couldn't find the article and there was nothing what so ever mention about Joyner UTVs which is a pity because I was very keen on reading on how exactly they tested all the UTVs like Side X Side mag and then announced the top pure sport utv. If I can not even find a Trooper mentioned on this site then how do they compare. What I'll do is compare for them just on the figures you have given above. ................. 09 RANGER RZR S ..........09 JOYNER TROOPER T2...........................Best statistics Engine Size.......760cc ...........................1083cc ..................................................The T2 is bigger by 323cc Top Speed ........63mp/h .........................65mp/h to 70 mp/h ................The T2 is faster by 2mp/h to 7mp/h Width ............... 60" ................................65" ..........................................The T2 is wider by 5"[/b] Custom paint.....Yes ...............................Yes but costs extra ....................The RZR has it standard Tires ................26" Maxxis Big-Horn .....27"Far East Mud Pros .....................T2's tires in mud RZR's in sand Suspension ....A-Arms front & Back.........A-Arms front Boxed Trailing Arm rear..The T2 has better rear suspension Shocks.............Fox adjustable..................Stock adjustable........................The RZR has better shocks Cost................$14000 MSRP....................$12000 MSRP...........................The Trooper by $2000 The best sport utv...No info found from 0 UTVs...SXS mag from 50 UTVs.......JOYNER TROOPER T2 As for the title of the ultimate sports Side X Side, SXS Mag came to this conclusion after comparing 50 UTVs from 19 manufactures and the JOYNER TROOPER was called THE ULTIMATE SPORTS UTV & http://www.sidexsideaction.com/digital19/ The only advantage I could find is the RZR had better shocks but it cost $2000 more for this little utv. Put a set of Fox Shocks on the Trooper & how much change have you got from $2000 ? Cheers Mike.
  14. Names for MegZ sprog. Now MegZ is about to pop, I reckon it's a good time to help her out with a few names. What do we know so far: It's going to be a girl (not always 100% correct by the way MegZ) she's about four weeks away from coming into this world and more than likely, going to be just like her mum with a love for all things fast on four wheels. Here a couple to get the ball rolling....... Olivia Rose Victoria or (O.R.V) ........................ off road vehicle Emily Faith Imogen or (E.F.I)...........................electronic fuel injection Ella Carla Ursula or (E.C.U)............................engine control unit Ulima Tammy Victoria (UTV)............................Utility Terrain Vehicle I know this is not a baby forum, but with names like these I think we can get away with it. Buy the way MegZ my daughter," V8" said I only wish my dads mates used their imagination a bit better when they came up with her name but my son, "Five Kegs of Beer" is happy. Cheers Mike.
  15. Good thinking flatbed and good luck with that latch73. Cheers Mike
  16. MegZ, the photos are in the Joyner Trooper UTV forum area under Hard Top started by Paiute3 & is Post #10 or click here http://www.utvboard.com/index.php?showtopic=415 Cheers Mike
  17. MegZ that was me and yeah I had I had a wrinkles right in front of the driver. I've just come back from a day bush bashing in the Trooper on a forestry road that would not of seen a vehicle in years and I mean years. I videoed the good parts but I'm unsure if I can download it here. The good news MegZ is wind seems to sort it out and as I tow the Joyners on a open trailer, that helped big time. When I 1st saw the front screens my thoughts where probably the same as you uncles, wrinkles and bad vision, but she's all sweet and pretty much sorts it self out as your driving and towing. Any info on posting videos here would be appreciated. Cheers Mike.
  18. Cinda, the closest show we have got over here in NZ is the Big Boys Toys expo that was on over the weekend in Auckland. I have thought about have a stand there with the last two shows but as I have pointed out before, NZ is so far behind America with UTVs that 95% of Kiwis would not have a clue what one was. I would say within two and a half years it will take off, but until then it's off road Motor bikes and Quads. I found two UTVs at the show, no Arctic Cats but a Polaris RZR and a Kawasaki Teryx. The Kawasaki guy couldn't tell me if the Teryx had a carbi or was efi and the Polaris guy didn't know when the RZR-S would be imported or not. I am not have a go at the sales guys, just the opposite, it shows the reality in New Zealand that UTVs are not popular here yet and sales are flat. Photos added on webshots and the link is http://community.webshots.com/album/568718571tSrvaP . Cheers Mike
  19. Side X Side have now got the correct info on the C4 & T4 models. Cheers Mike.
  20. The Commando C4 too. I sent an e-mail out last night to their editor. Cheers Mike.
  21. Well I started this post a few days ago thinking the boards would light up. My first surprise was "it didn't". Bugger. My second surprise knocked me off my computer chair because of what was said, who said it and the timing for this particular post. So what was said and by who. Well it was an article in the latest Side X Side Mag about a UTV Buyer's Guide and what did they say; "The Trooper is the ultimate sport UTV on the market today". For the full article here is the link http://www.sidexsideaction.com/digital19/ You may have to full out a info form for SXS first before the link opens and of more interest to me, there was also a very good write-up about a head to head comparison between a Joyner Renegade and a John Deere Gator. If the link wont open for you here is what they said concerning the T2."The Trooper is the ultimate sport UTV on the market today. Its 86hp, 4-cylinder EFI engine and top speed of 65 MPH pushes this UTV above, over and beyond the most unbelievable terrain known to man. The larger (98") wheelbase is matched with a swing-arm suspension to provide a higher level of stability and comfort. The 13" ground clearance and 12" travel makes the Trooper T2 a true force to be reckoned with!" I am a Joyner person and I was never going to promote another brand but it's fair to say I'm rapped with this particular article and personally I believe the T2 will be in the top 3 UTVs for 2009. I say top three because of the unknown that lies ahead with new models to be released.[/b] Cheers Mike Sorry for messing with your post, I thought the link was important enough to highlight. Jeff
  22. Or redirect yourself here ................. http://www.utvboard.com/index.php?showtopic=554
  23. With only a handful of weeks left in 08, it's time to talk about next year. With most of the current crop of UTVs been upgraded during the year and a couple of new models popping up, there's plenty to talk about. With the recent posts by johnsand concerning safety with UTVs, like it or lump it, it is fast becoming an issue but at the same time we want to push these machines harder and go further than we have before. Some UTVs are going to be better on the sand or the mud, on tracks and on rocks than others and your never get one UTV that will dominate in all areas. Respect what members say and try and keep this one clean and positive(me included) and tell us what is going to be the best UTV for 2009. Cheers Mike.
  24. Pleased to hear it , but not surprised. Cheers Mike
  25. Welcome aboard Crowdog I enjoyed reading your report and have learnt a lot off that website http://www.utvguide.net/index.htm since its inception. Lots of good info about each make and brand without too much rambling on makes it very easy to take in and it keeps the web-pages crisp and pleasure to navigate. Thumbs up to all of you involved with this top website. I have been guilty of knocking the RZR on this site however Polaris have stepped up to the mark with the RZR-S and will sell plenty. Crowdog, have you got any plans on putting the Joyner Trooper through the ringer in the near future? Cheers Mike.
