  1. Went camping and for a nice little ride with my sons and grand kid over the weekend, my new shocks were not here yet, so I pumped some ATF into the bad one and promptly pumped it all out and had no shock at all, so fairly often, bad bumps caused it to slam home, eventually, I dropped the CV again. So Do NOT ride on blown shocks!!!! This is the second time a blown shock has caused my CV to drop. However, I did have a good time riding right up to that point, and still had a great time with the family being out in the forest & in the mountains. Here's a Spot link to where I camped. http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&...p;z=12&om=1
  2. That's a monster, can you hang your trooper in a tree? Must done something the photo came up, Thanks
  3. Me blonde 2 couldn't get link to work either. Plumber, do you hear us? Forbidden You don't have permission to access /96/5/63/4/2707563040104805325KtMPvL_fs.jpg on this server. Is this what you got Cinda? Maybe the server thinks is porn or something bad, brostar seems to have been able to see it. Brostar repost plumbers picture, please. PM'd plumber so he can us trooperfolk web shots.
  4. Messed with Silverbullet's post so you can see his catalog pictures of his lites. How do you like your tires. Still thinking about Marysvale. Kinarfi
  5. Were you planning on putting a switch on that or just let it run? Kinarfi
  6. That appears to be set up for a Banjo Fitting. I googled "banjo fitting" and saw several, priced from 8 to 50 dollars, but I didn't know what size you need, so I'll let you do your own research. I suggest you at least take a look, but I was concerned with the amount of flow they could handle, but then, that is what they designed it for. Again, your choice.
  7. go with HID About 100 each saw them at checker a while back
  8. Yea, I'm sure I'll get all I need, I was just comparing prices. Mine were $685.30 with shipping, for both.
  9. While I was looking at the link, it had 4 items below for the shock, how many of those items are needed? Thanks Kinarfi
  10. Thanks Lenny, For the rest, I ordered F.O.A. shocks with a 10" travel and 26.3" fully extended with 400 over 600 springs, anticipate putting limiting straps on. I see where most of the limit straps have been around the shock and even use the same bolts, I plan to wrap my strap around the tube where the plunger that hold the rear deck up is attached and at the very back of the swing arm, it ends up having about the same angle as the shock/springs and has no leverage disadvantages so I can use a lighter strap and run it down and back up. When I get them, I'll post photos of it all. Kinarfi
  11. Final comment, works well, no problem since I finished and the on off switch for the aux pump works fine. If you do this, have the fuel enter the surge tank at the top instead of the middle so that you don't need any check valves. Kinarfi
  12. Thanks rocmoc, think I'll stick it in parts pieces and info Kinarfi
  13. Yea, but I expected that you had weighed your vehicle and was hoping you would answer the weight question. Kinarfi
  14. Has anyone weighed the Trooper, front and back. full of fuel? Thanks Kinarfi & rocmoc, your a 1/2 day short on the price of the Fox Shox, I ordered F.O.A.s this morning. I think I'll be impressed, My son says he's a desert racer and gave him a real good rating and he sounds easy to work with. You know I'll be making a report of them.
  15. Get rid of the stock tires, they won't last long any way and put on some General Grabber AT2 27x8.50 R14 95Q 6PR OWL on 6" wide wheels. And like I always say, snorkel it. They say it goes 65 mph but that's screaming the engine, Comfortable is 45 to 50 and on mine, I get 10 mph per 1000 RPM, and while the exhaust sounds really cool at the dealers, after an hour or so, it's loud, you'll want a muffler. Kinarfi
  16. I agree and disagree with you, The shocks are junk and don't last very long. And I think for people like me and Cinda, the 14s with good tires are great. As far as upgrading shocks, I have too. I think I'm going with F.O.A. I can't get any response about Fox as to what I should go with or how much they are with springs. Any one have some good info on either shock. Some stock shock info I came up with is. Stock shock measurements; Extended, 23 1/4" over all 22 3/32 eye to eye center Collapsed, 19 3/8" over all 17 5/8 eye to eye center Travel, 4 15/32" Shaft size, aprox 7/8" Spring size, aprox, 3 1/2" If you droop too far, the axle rubs on the swing arm and prevents it from going any lower, didn't feel the CV catching. Also, in stock condition, you can't use much more shock travel than you already have. kinarfi
  17. Some times I just love to be wrong, like this time, the master link on the final chain drive came off. Every thing else is fine, but I have some better plastic mount pieces to go around the steering column, so I'm doing a few things over. If you think you may want a kit, read this, it's directions for attaching the strain gauge to the steering shaft, which is the heart of this thing, the rest is the brains and the muscle. I can & will make a few suggestions if & when this gets turned into a kit. Kinarfi
  18. don't have any Idea yet. I assume you want one like mine, that is stock steering rack and pinion. Want to trade for installed shocks? Kinarfi OH yea FYI, My set up died due to stripped gears, so I have to change the gear and I'll report on that when I get it done, pretty soon, but for a long time, it did not have an end of travel current limit set up. I'm sure that contributed to the stripped gear, I going to look for some metal gears, but haven't seen any yet. If you have a power wheels ride on toy for your kids, steal the motor and gear box off it.
  19. Hope you can keep the garage gremlins in their cages, sound like one got loose and moved your 14mm wrench. Waiting for photos Kinarfi
  20. This close, but not exactly on topic, but here's a cheap way to lube the swing arm pivot joints, Drill small hole, inject grease with a needle zerk fitting, then cover hole with tape to keep water and mud out. Kinarfi
  21. Flatbed, Do you happen to remember the number, name, or anything like that about these. It's been almost a year, wonder how much they are now?
  22. Pretty sure I'm only using about 4.5" of shock travel, maybe a little more. The last shock I blew, I kept and cut it apart and took photos of it and use it for information reasons. But if the extended length is the same, then I get more upward travel. Flatbed, you say the8.5 2.0s will bolt right on? When I go to http://www.foxracingshox.com/sidexside/shocks/20_PIGGYBACK, they list 3 shock, coil-over, Disc coil-over, and RC Coil Over, I suppose the way I drive, the coil-overs would probably be fine, what springs would you recommend for a fairly conservative driver? Haven't found any prices yet. Thanks, Kinarfi
  23. Old information at: http://www.utvboard.com/shock-brand-names-t774.html# http://www.utvboard.com/Shock-Info-t452.html I think I'm leaning toward the F.O.A. Shocks, but 12 inches of travel is way more than I can use in stock configuration, I measured my old blown shock and it only around 4 1/2 inches of travel, even the 8.5 2.0 shock would be way more that what I have. What do I do with the extra travel? lay the down, put on limit straps? I really would like some advice here. Thanks Kinarfi Or do I take it to Lenny's Place?
  24. From what I have read, for the stock set up we need an 8.5 ' travel, does any one know the other specs such as eye to eye, compressed measurement, extended measurement, spring rates, assuming two springs per shock and any other information I may not have mentioned. I think I may go with F.A.O. shocks and them file a report, but it would be nice to be able to give them the correct info. Thanks Kinarfi
