Misfire and strong sulfur smell from exhaust
Homeowner A replied to Homeowner A's topic in Coleman UTV SxS Forum
Fresh 93 octane. No smoke on start. What outlet exhaust if so, yes it has pressure. -
Coleman UT 400 has a strong sulfur/emissions smell from exhaust all the time. Kind of like it’s running rich and a catalytic converter is trying to make it run cleaner so it smells bad. Also misfires when warm. Idles fine. Full throttle fine. In between it cuts out. Do these have catalytic converters? Almost acts like it might be clogged if so.

Could someone please recommend a reputable shop to troubleshoot and repair a Coleman UT 400 in the DFW TX area?

Have a Coleman UTV 400 that cranks, runs, drives well until it gets warm and is put under load. Light throttle or full throttle it doesn't bog, but it will cut out mid throttle if you move the pedal quicker than it seems to like for example when you're getting ready to go up a hill, but if you immediately floor it, it will do just fine and not cut out. It's random if and when it's going to do it, but is consistent in that it happens only when hot/full operating temperature. I've replaced the injector twice, same with the spark plug and tried different heat ranges (NGK 7,8 and 8 iridium), replaced the fuel pump, adjusted the valves, checked air filter which is like new, changed the oil, replaced the fuel filter. No check engine light. I don't have a code reader for this. Initially I thought it might have a head or head gasket issue as when I got it, the oil was over full, very runny like water milky and it was smoking. I've changed the oil since then twice to clear and clean everything out, and it seems to be good. Coolant stays the same level and so does oil with no changes in consistency or need for adding more. Had I think 7-9 miles when I got it and now has about 77. What should I try or consider next?

Replaced injector and it has been running well until yesterday. Now it’s cutting out again mid throttle when it gets up to full temp. Possibly misfiring too did smell some unburnt fuel at one point when it would cut out. Light throttle or flooring it and it does fine. I replaced the injector again but no improvement. Any ideas? What should I look at next?

Coleman UT 400 replacement decals graphics?
Homeowner A replied to Homeowner A's topic in Coleman UTV SxS Forum
Maybe I'll try that at some point thanks -
Have a bed decal that has never been right. Contacted Coleman Powersports and they have no solution. Anyone know of a place where I could get a replacement decal or complete decal or graphics kit?

Any info would be appreciated as to where around Midlothian TX DFW area that I could take my own UTV to ride. I’ve done some google searches but am coming up short. Thanks

EFI - a new fuel injector has made all the difference.

Anyone have any input here?

Have an issue all the sudden where the UTV will cut out randomly mid range throttle and under load. Light consistent throttle on fairly flat ground no problems. If you quickly change throttle position sometimes it will bog down and cut out, splutter, etc. Floor it or let off and it may do just fine. Going up a hill and adding more throttle as the incline demands, will cut out splutter and smell unburnt fuel. So far doesn't ever completely quit. If you let off it will idle just fine. A lot of times if you floor it, it will pick up and even get a boost of power. Changed to a slightly hotter plug to see if that would make a difference, but it didn't . Any ideas what might be going on and what to try next?

So far I've found 3 total on the rear driveshaft including the U-Joints, 2 each on the front and rear sway bars. Nothing on the front driveshaft. Still have a rotational squeak at very slow speeds coming from the rear. Sounds like it's brake related.
-
Greasing the rear u-joints made an incredible difference.
-
I found 3 on the rear drive shaft. 1 on each U joint and one on the shaft. There’s probably at least one on the front driveshaft.

Is there a diagram of all of the grease zerks for a Coleman UT 400? Mine squeaks like crazy and want to try and remedy it.

I picked up a 10x17 just in case last weekend that was on sale for $179.

Best way to reset the computer? Can I just disconnect the battery for a few or do I need to do something else?
-
Is there a better performing higher volume injector than what they come with or what is the best replacement for the original?

I like what you did, I did something similar to cover a pool one year. Also saw this which is very close to the same concept, it's a complete kit, probably a little sturdier and also more expensive. https://www.harborfreight.com/automotive/automotive-accessories/portable-canopies-garages/10-ft-x-10-ft-portable-shed-63297.html

No signs of overheating or any other abnormalities. I drove it tonight and it ran pretty well initially but after a while it seemed to splutter and not take throttle very well. Wanted to stall at times. Checked the oil, still normal. Any ideas maybe change out the spark plug? If so what should I get?

This one hasn't really had an owner and it was part of a surplus auction when Tractor Supply closed out this model from their stores. This is just one of several from that lot. I purchased one of those units from the individual that bought the lot. It does look like it was run in some water or mud, but no evidence that it was in a flood or in very deep conditions. May have sat outside in rain some I don't know. Not really faded or dusty or anything. Nothing seems to settle out of the old oil. The old oil was like dirty pond or creek water very runny pretty much like straight brown creek water. Very overfull and to the point that steam was coming out of the exhaust. It was all the way up near the upper portion of the dipstick. Probably had double or more liquid in it than the ~2.5 qt recommendation. I didn't run it very much like that before I decided to change the oil. Coolant is full looks good proper level and now the oil is too,
