Winches

Recommended Posts

plumber, because of the off-set Fairlead on the Joyner winches, wire tends to bite in tight. This does happen with all wire rope winches but is worse with this off-set. Two things you can do. 1: Make a new plate to house the Fairlead correctly in front of the drum or 2: Replace the wire rope with Braided rope. I guess the sensible thing to do is both but the Braid will handle angle pulling and loading on to the drum better than wire. 1/4" rated at 3800kg is the one to go for. It's rated higher than the wire we are using. Don't be tempted to go for a stronger Braid because your loose out on length that can be feed on. Here's what I mean. http://www.4wdbits.co.nz/ProductDetails.aspx?productID=958

Cheers Mike.

My winch will wind out but will not wind in have anyone else had this problem

The extra weight of the T4 seems to be a problem with ours, when we had the electrical problem last year we needed to use the winch to load into the trailer and it struggled with the weight. George did have a problem getting it to rewind but he finally got it done. A new winch is on Georges list of things to buy but in this economy it's going to wait a bit.

Good afternoon. When the timing chain came off its lower gear (previous owner had over-tightened the tensioner), I ordered new parts.. chain, oil-pump chain, tensioner etc.. But now that it's time to put it back together, the main crankshaft makes a clang noise and stops when you turn it by hand. I want to solve this before assembling everything. The camshaft cover is off so that the valves aren't being activated. Should the transmission be in neutral to turn the crankshaft? The engine was running fine until the chain came off the lower gear. Then it would spin when the starter motor engaged so I assumed the crankshaft was spinning. Any advice is appreciated.

Was at Lowe's over the weekend. The wife and I seen they have a new Axis 550. That thing is sharp. Has a complete door. Speakers in door. Bigger engine. Bench seats. New styling all the way around. Looks to be more air tight than my 2022 model. I really like the looks but $10k is out of my price range for now. Unless I could sell mine. And the resale on the Axis 500 is nothing.
Went to the local wally world today. See a 4 person Polaris General 1000 on the back of a trailer. That Polaris looked exactly like a stretched version of the Axis 550. Even down to the vents in the windshield.
Just wondering if anyone can confirm or deny the Axis 550 is a copy of the Polaris?

I got an old 2003 Arctic Cat 375 Auto, and just bought a 2008 AC 650 side by side. Got a new starter, solenoid, and battery for the 650. Gonna change the crankcase oil and filter while I'm at it.
Anything I oughta watch out for from them that's done the starter/solenoid on this model?
Don't have a manual yet for the 650. Any recommendations for oil weight/grade?
      Thanks.

In the market for side by side. Narrowed it down between the pioneer 1000 or defender Hd9. Looking for pros and cons of both. Any info would be helpful in my selection process. Noise, speed, reliability, ride, all of it.

I'm a newbie.  While I'm testing out my new to me 2021 Massimo T-Boss 410 winch, I broke the Orange Ring that fits around the cable.  I can't see much of a purpose for this ring, other than to be in the way, and to break.  Is this ring really necessary?  I did find it on the Massimo winch parts diagram, but I'm thinking,  Meah?  Am I wrong?   (It's # 13 and 14 on the parts diagram, attached)
      Thanks.
