Hello all

I have owned my axis 500 for almost 2 years and it has been a very good machine. Speedometer quit working the other day, orderd a new one and and installed it. The old one had a bunch of shavings on it, Didn't think much about it, Took for a ride and speedometer works as it should. Wiped the oil and shavings off the old one to see that the shavings were from the sensor itself. The end it all chewed up. I don't hear any noises or grinding, and a little hard of hearing anyway and machine is kind of loud. Any Idea's what may have caused this? Am a little worried about now and afraid to drive it.

I assume you replaced the speed sensor in the rear diff.  The sensor has inside the SS can a magnet and wound wire coil.  The end is "looking for" gear teeth as the axle turns---each tooth generates the pulses for the speedo circuit.  Chewed up end means the face of the sensor threaded in too deep and is rubbing on the sharp gear teeth......OR the diff is coming apart with the ring gear having radial movement  Pull the sensor and look inside the hole and have someone rotate a back raised wheel.....look for "wobble".  Inspect the "new" sensor face and check for damage.  Not having the sealing washer installed....sensor will thread in DEEPER......RUB/Scrub sensor face.  IF no new damage (scratches)  OR metal fragments stuck to the magnet, you should be good to go.  There are always some floaters the sensors magnet will pick up.  The key is if the new one is also chopped up.  Adding extra sealing spacer (with sealant) will space the sensor head back away from the gear teeth.  The oil supplied should be changed after breaking....seen failures when not replaced.  Hope this helps.  P.S.  If spaced too far from the gear teeth, the sensor won't see them and thus no speedo indication.

My Axis 500 has been operating properly for almost a year with Zero problems. While I was away my granddaughter & friends were riding & playing in the snow. They went to the gas station to fill the tank & the vehicle would not start afterwards. I BEEN GIVING MULTIPLE STORIES: The ATV will not start. When I turn the key I can hear the fuel pump come on but nothing happens other than that.
      - NO CLICK - NO OTHER NOISE
      *I CHECKED THE BATTERY 12.43volts
*I replaced the solenoid inside the battery compartment.
Seems the next electrical component in line has battery connections IN & motor connections OUT with 2 other small wires connectedaswell(I do not know the name of this component).
      Can anyone help?
I can not find an ordered list of electronic components starting at the battery.
      Can anyone help with this?
Thanks in advance for any help.

      Got a 2021 Axis 500.
I'm needing the head bolt torque specs.
      Manual states 38nm.
But saw a video Hisun put out on YT for a 550 stating 50nm + 45° turn of wrench. Didn't think they would be that much difference on a 500 and a 550.
Seen another YT video on a 2013 500. He did 38nm.
Really only want to do this job once and done. And done correct.
      Anybody got the answer?
Going to start this rebuild in a few once this weather brakes. Flooding and then snow and cold here now. But spring is around the corner and the wife has to have this fixed or a Honda pioneer may be parked in driveway soon. She has to be able to ride.

As with any forum you join, there is a requirement for an obligatory introduction... and that seems fair. How else do you get that first post in there without jumping in with some stupid question right out of nowhere?

Hi. I'm Space Ghost. Well, not really, but that was my call sign on my last deployment before an IED made me non-deployable, and I an now retired/disabled, and living on my wonderful VA disability. I did almost 28 years in total between the Army, Army Reserve, and National Guard. 1 deployment with the Reserve (Desert Storm) and 3 with the Guard (1 pre, and 2 post 9/11)

Married (going on 30 years) one of each. (both out of the nest)

Just picked up my first side by side a couple days ago. A 2020 Can-Am Defender HD10 DPS 6x6.

It's in pretty good shape, but as you can probably tell, it's sitting a bit high. Former owner put a lifting collar on the shocks.

The good = almost 17" of ground clearance. (30" tires)
The bad = incredibly steep driveline angles, and a pretty stiff ride.

      They will be coming off.

Other than that... clean as a pin and appears very well maintained.

Looking forward to seeing what this forum can bring, and hoping I can bring something in return.

I have an Axis 500 4x4 UTV that I was given.  It looks like an almost new machine with 39 hrs on it however it was apparently under water from the hurricane . I have no spark at the plug. I have replaced the plug, the plug wire, & the stator so far. Can anyone advise me of what i need to check and or replace to get this thing running? Any advise would be greatly appreciated.
                                    Thank You,
                                  D Maynard
