Getting my prowler to a running stage and can't figure out why it won't idle without throttle. Also see fuel spitting out air intake while running. High speed runs rough as well. I've done many things (that were needed) but it hasn't helped. New plug, rings (120 lbs compression luke warm), timing chain, valve job. Even tried a cheap new carb. Thinking I may be off a tooth on the timing but it looks pretty dang close. anyone see this issue before?

Arctic cat v-twins are notorious for the choke sticking, replace cable, plungers and springs.

If the little rubber boot on lever is ripped change it too or ypull get water in the cable.

Id reinstall the factory carbs. Also idle mixture screw is super finnicky set it with engine well warmed and deal with crappy long warm up time.

Well not really, choke problems will still cause aall the same issues so its worth checking.

If its not a fix id double check timing, remeber to finger in the chain where the tensioner goes after setting to remove chain slack and double check marks.

I also install head cover temporarily with 4 center bolts snug not torqued and rockers slacked off to hold cam same with tensioner finger tight on bolts.

Then rotate engine one cycle, 720 degrees oor 2 turns, then remove everything and recheck timing.

If you have a friend you can hold cam in place with one hand finger tension chain with other and have them rotate engine... slowly! Then rechecking saves ssome time but sometimes the cam will move.

Unless chain is stretched badly they sould essentially be bang on, even with stretch and marks not perfect, one tooth off is quite obvious.

Also be aware some models have a mark on flywheel at F for fire, ignition timing, another at T for TDC make sure you have the right mark or your beating a dead horse.

Hope this helps

      Hello All...
Just bought a 2014 Massimo 500 UTV.  It;s not running at the moment, but hopefully will soon.  I need a seat for it also (passenger side, if it makes any difference.)  It is a crank-but no start situation.  Just now starting to read the boards for solutions.  Apparently these models are well known for this issue.  If anyone has any suggestions, please feel free to chime in, it would be greatly appreciated.
      Thanks

I have a Coleman HS400UTV-5 got it manly for hunting and spending time with the grandkids
The one problem I am trying to avoid. My son borrowed it last summer and said it ran hot so he added water to it . I do not know how much he put in so I would like to drain most of it and add new coolant to protect it this winter. I can find no drain cock or any way of draining it besides loosening a hose.  Any suggestions ????

Have an issue all the sudden where the UTV will cut out randomly mid range throttle and under load.  Light consistent throttle on fairly flat ground no problems.  If you quickly change throttle position sometimes it will bog down and cut out, splutter, etc.  Floor it or let off and it may do just fine.  Going up a hill and adding more throttle as the incline demands, will cut out splutter and smell unburnt fuel.  So far doesn't ever completely quit.  If you let off it will idle just fine.  A lot of times if you floor it, it will pick up and even get a boost of power.  Changed to a slightly hotter plug to see if that would make a difference, but it didn't .  Any ideas what might be going on and what to try next?

I have a Coleman Outfitter 550 purchased in January 2022 that runs and operates pretty well.  65 hours on it so far.   It is a work vehicle for my 10 hilly acres with two 1 acre woods and 5 acres of "lawn".  The rest is under a lake.
My parking brake does not seem to have any grip.  It worked when new but after a month or so, it is just almost useless.     I press the parking brake pedal hard until it stops. Still, it won't hold even on slight inclines.   I don't see the caliper move as I press the brake pedal down.  There seems to be plenty of pad left on it and the rotor is shiny as if it is rubbing a little when applied, but not enough to stop it from rolling.
      Any thoughts on possible causes?
