I want to go to Moab this May or June, and am looking for advice on where to stay. We would have to hotel it this time as I don't have a camping trailer. But what I'm wondering is where the best parking (truck w/ trailer) and accessability to the riding areas are? Also I'm wondering if our Joyners are street legal in Moab? And if not; where the best staging areas are? Thanks in advance!

This is the site I use, http://www.rr4w.com/pageview.aspx?menu=4422&id=16364 All trails in Moab have great trail heads where you can park. In Utah, what the local LEO told us, they honor your your State's registration for the Street. The limitation is you can not drive on the main highway or main street, all back streets & roads. If your State requires an additional off-road sticker, they also honor it. If it does not, you will have to purchase UT's off-road sticker. They do check! Moab is great, all of the trails are great and NOTE the difficulty rating on the above site for each trail. That is the min rating, can be even more difficult. Best to be on the buddy system. Take a LONG tow strap & a LONG strong rope. Tow strap is tow & the rope is to tie on to the roll bar using a dozen guys pulling to keep you from rolling over, I AM SIRIUS.

Hey thanks Rocmoc! I'm trying to talk my in-laws into meeting us there maybe for the 5th annual UTV Rally (IF they have it this year. I understand the usual hosts quit)

I was just getting ready to post a first time way to go is the UTV Rally, http://utvrally.com/ That was how we did it. EXCELLENT people & experience. They take care of everything getting to the trails. You park at the Arena and caravan to the trails. The orginal two couples putting on the Rally split. There are/was two now to pick from.

Last time I went I stayed at La Quinta. They gave the best military discount. I am not sure how the regular rate compares. Most every motel has ample parking space for your truck and trailer, so don't worry about that. If your trooper has still has turn signals, headlights, brake lights, mud flaps, & is registered for street use you shouldn't get hassled. But, I have never personally seen a UTV driving on the road down there. Moab has changed alot over the years. They used to let you drive anything that had wheels on the streets...ahhh those were the days. My suggestion would be to contact the local authority as I believe they are subjective in there profiling. Do not let any of this discourage your trip. You MUST experience Moab.

I travel to Moab twice a year with UTV's and ATV's. 1.5 years ago, i was going to take my T2 to the car wash. It was maybe 200 feet from the campground, but i had to get on the street to get there. Right as I was about to pull on the street, I saw a Sheriff's Deputy who immediately turned around. He told me that the UTV's that are street legal in other states are only good on secondary roads with a speed limit of 30 or less. So no main street or highway, or any road with 4 or more lanes. I am from Wyoming and we have to have non-resident OHV stickers. We bought ours at the Maverik gas station.

NEW PROBLEM.....Ok; so my wife and I decided to buy a used motorhome. Now this will eventually cause a new problem. We would pull the SXS behind the motorhome. That means if we can't get a camp spot on the trail (Kokopelli or other trail) then we would have to drive the Trooper to the site from in town unless we want to unhook the camper, and try to find a large staging area on the trail to unload the SXS. Grrrr...... so many restrictions! If any of you know of good camp spots for motorhomes where you can also ride; I'd sure appreciate a heads uo. I purchased a detailed map of the area from the chamber there. Thanks for any guidance you can give. My state of Oregon does not allow on highway use of SXS vehicles even though I have all the lighting to make it legal.

There are couple of trailheads that are also dry camping / boondocks locations (no hookups). One is at the trailhead South of town. This is a very tough trail, they tied rope to our roll bar and about 8 guys were holding on at one climb near and edge of a LOOOOOOng drop-off. We made it with little help from the rope guys but it was nice knowing if we started to flip they were there to keep us from going over. Most of the campgrounds along the main road coming into town from the South have access to the back streets to the trails Northeast of town. Fun easy trails. There is a trail along the main road coming into town, it is NOT legal to use it.

My wife & I also got a used motor home last year and drag the trooper around on a trailer. Not sure what you have in mind for camping, but I prefer to get out of town where it's wide open and FREE. One ride I just love is Kane Spring Road, I have camped at each end of it and one time, I parked in the rest area and went for a from there (N20 22.88 W109 27.44) and at the other end I camped at N38 28 02 W109 36 06 which is very near hoorah pass and then there's the other side of Moab with lots of wide open areas to explore and you can go down to the river, I camped up on a bit of a knoll at N38 38.618 W109 49.171, but if you don't get that, there's lots of other places out there.

The beauty of a motor home, IMHO, is that you don't need a camp ground per say, you have you "home" where ever you camp.

South of Moab, South of Sky Ranch airport, near the reservoir at 38 28 39.73 N, 109 25 21.95 W per Google Earth. You can see the camping spots. This is the trail head for Steel Bender. It was a GREAT trail to the cliff we had to climb. You could always turn around and drive back out. This is a video of where they tied me off with the rope so I didn't do this,

Of course we would not have a problem with moving the June Adventure to this location at the trailhead of Steel Bender, LOL. Problem is Moab can get HOT in June.

Hey thanks guys! I'll check out the coorinates on G-Earth. At this point; we're tenetively also having our inlaws from Nevada joining us with their motorhome. I am a bit concerned about the crowds that will be there for Rally on the Rocks this year. I see they have anew website up now and it's supposed to be much bigger than last year. I'm concerned that all the campsites will be taken; so we may have to dry camp. (Which is OK with me) One question about the street legality of our Troopers. If the local law enforcement is escorting again; do I still need to have it registered in another state for on highway travel? Oregon is very closed minded to off roaders. Hopefully that will change someday; but for now there's no chance of upgrading my registration to get an Oregon plate. Hmmmmm...... Maybe I can use my inlaws address? I have some in Henderson and others in Bullhead.

Moab would be fun. Never done it but looking forward to it. Keep it on the burner, April fools day is comming. I'm still anxious to see what the trails south of Hanksville are all about. If we end up going to Moab, should I get life insurance.

Notice that the Terexs suspension isn't keeping the wheels on the ground hardly at all. In fact the suspension looks so stiff that you don't see much travel at all. With good suspension he would have not swung sideways and ended up rolling.

Not sure about Nevada but AZ is good,just make sure they dont hit you up with the full time on road sticker.They almost got me on that lastt month,it would have been $200.00 bucks by the time they added the off road sticker to it.Ended up only about $45-50 for both.

What you can't see as you are climbing this major rock face there is a major off-camber towards the downhill side/cliff.

Depending on how big your motorhome is, you might be able to stay in Sand Flats Park. It is dry camping, but with designated sites. There are 3 or 4 trailheads within the park that you can run your UTV too. These include hells revenge, porcupine, and fins and things. We usually stay in the park and ride from camp. Just a thought.

During the Rally; I'm concerned that all the camp areas will be taken. I may just pull the Trooper trailer behind my truck and stay in hotels. At least that way I can tow it to the riding areas. That might be a better way to go for my first trip there. If it wasn't the big Rally; I'd take more of a chance I think.

      The conversion took about 350lbs. off the vehicle.  It never rode great, but now I feel every  crack in the road.  I have backed off spring compression nut to the point just under where they would move around if suspension was at full extension, but it is still very stiff.  I would like to put some softer coilover springs on it, but I have no idea what the spring rate is with the original springs so I would just be guessing on what to order.  Does anyone have the data for the original spring compression rate?  I am willing to give up a little ground clearance for a softer ride. Right now when sitting still the rear suspension is at or near full extension and the rear tires have several degrees of camber which will cause uneven wear if allowed to continue in this state.

      Hello all. I purchased a brand new Massimo Buck 250 EFI in June for our farm and I've had the parking brake fail on me twice. I have approximately 250 miles on the vehicle. The first time was less than a month after receiving the UTV. We all of a sudden lost brake pressure and it would not start. I tracked the issue back to the parking brake. Upon removing the chain cover, I noticed the brake pad was missing and the caliper piston was touching the rotor. I found a set of brake pads online and replaced them myself. It's worked for several months and just happened again. Seems like a design flaw. I'm reaching out to see if there's an upgrade option available, or if I should replace the entire caliper with the brake pads? Thanks in advance for any advise.
      I submitted a warranty claim, so I'll keep this updated with what Massimo replies.

      Okay everyone, need some help here. I got my 2014 Bennche Bighorn 700 from my father inlaw. He has had it since new and as far as I know never had any problems with it until recently. It began with it being hard to start and having to give it some throttle for it to start up. Then it wouldn't stay running once it did start. If you go to start it, it will fire right off and only run for a split second and then die. If you give it some throttle it will start and stay running as long as your foot is on the pedal. While it's running its pretty rough and backfires. Here is a list of everything I've done so far. Initially I checked compression and it was low. I changed the cylinder, piston and rings. Took the head apart cleaned and laped the valves. Checked timing a few times. Adjusted the valves. New spark plug. Checked the air filter, it was fine. New battery. Changed the fuel pump because of a broken fitting. Changed the fuel filter, lines and fuel injector. Dumped the old fuel and put new in. Changed the air idle control, TPS, MAP sensor, Voltage Regulator, ECU and harness. I was getting codes 31, 107, 113 and 122 on the display. Once I changed the ECU no more codes have been displayed but still have the same issues. All fuses look good and as far as I can tell Grounds are good unless there are some I can't find. I'm at a loss here. Not really sure where to go. Compression was better after everything I did but I don't remember the numbers. I'll have to check it again if someone thinks that could be the issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

      UTV MASSIMOREPLACED STATOR WANT start replaced rectifier still want start stator ohms out 5 ohms each leg what could be wrong at this point
