We had our Joyner 650 Sand Spider out this weekend at Pismo and had a blast with it. The front tires throw a lot of sand, so I've got to put some sort of fender or extended body part up to stop that, and I put a 6 Sigma partial jet kit in it, which made it ever so much easier to start, but the carb got a little sand in something and it stopped running right at the end.

So to my question - one of the guys had a Joyner 4 seater that had the 1600 4 cylinder in it, and felt it was too low on power, so he put a 3.1 Chevy V6/auto in it. He's selling the whole takeout, engine, trans, and computer for $500. Would it fit? I've heard of putting an 800 in a 650, but has anyone done a 1600?

Anything is possible with a welder and a bender

Seems like that thing would be super ass heavy.. maybe that motor belongs in a trooper instead

Heavy relative to the suspension? Or to the rest of the car? I hadn't even considered that. I was just thinking of "more power" LOL

I would think both.

May not be bad on a sand buggy. My old sandrails were so light in the front I could walk around front and lift it up with one arm. At the times when I wanted to keep the front down I had a bolt-able weight I would add. You want the rear wheel powered sandrails light in the front. BUT there are better engine selections with a lot more power, cheap with parts easy to find.

Thanks Rick, that was the kind of info i was looking for. What would be a good swap, or would i be better off just doing mild hop ups on what i have?

How about a 1,000 cc street bike motor? How would that do?

The parking brake assembly came today, thanks again.

Bike engines are killer fast, I run one in my race car, Yamaha 1150. Problem is most don't have a reverse. I know in England they run my car and they have a reverse but have never seen or hear how they do it. Another problems is torque, most are hp with high rpms and low on torque. Great for sand but not for crawling.

I recently bought an axis 500 and it’s missing a box or something the plug is L shaped I’ve looked through the wiring diagrams and still can’t figure it out. The plug is located right near the battery housing

Looking for information on installing a OBD port or a lite to read codes in ECM.
I can not find a OBD port or a lite to read codes on this R2 with 800cc.
I have code readers and adapters for most ATV's. From what I've found so far. They don't have a connection for to read codes. I may be wrong. That's why I'm asking.
This R2 has had new IAC, TPS, MAP, fuel pressure regulator and fuel pump replaced. This was done by neighbor to try to stop surging. It still surges on start up and then settles down. But once you hit the accelerator it revs up to 2000+ rpm and stays till you block off IAC port in throttle body with finger. Once you do that it once again settles down and idles perfectly.
I want to know what the ECM is reading to help dio it.
This joyner is the first one I've run across. Well second one in a week. (my neighbors 2 of them) The other was a trooper with the 1100cc chery motor that had been setting for years. After cleaning up the fuse box connections. It runs like a top. Had to replace all gages with aftermarket gages. Water, oil, gas, amp. Only problem one was the water temp using original sending unit. Had to install 150 ohm resistor on the input wire to get it to read correctly + - 5 degrees. Close enough. Gas sending unit was/is for a boat tank 6" tall. All SS so it should last forever.
      thanks Dan D. aka staind

      Hi,
      New to the forum.
Came here looking for some experienced UTV users who can enlighten me about which brand should I pick for my very first UTV or SXS.
      I'm between 3 brands and 3 models:
      *Kawasaki MULE PRO-FXR   1000.
      *Yamaha wolverine rmax2.
      *Can am Commander XTP.
The use I'm willing to give it is mostly to go to the range with my wife, load steel targets and all our shooting gear, we shoot a lot, rifles, Shotguns and Handguns for practice, training and competition. (Range is about 10 miles from home)
But also I want something that I can take to the trails and have fun on dirt, mud, rocks, puddles or creeks.
Any objective information will be appreciated, specially which is more reliable and durable.
Thank you and happy 4th of July.
