pulled throttle body just to check to see if it was getting dirt and dust in there and found oil lying in the bottom.Also in the intake manifold.found little to no dust or dirt.Engine has not been smoking.Any ideas? got me worried.

I think you have a serious problem ans should unload your T4 to me right know for $500 before I have second thoughts. Actually don't worry. If there is no dirt, your OK. If your using an oil soaked air filter like a K&N type, you casn easily get oil dripping off of it when re-oiling it. I always get it when re-oiling mine, on my truck too. I would rather have a bit too much oil then not enough. I actually completely submerse the filter in the oil then hang it to drain. It can still drain for days after I put it back in. Now that I think about it again, you probably should unload it, TO ME. I'll even through in a slightly used nose splint.

I wont take less then 600.I am sure its engine oil.No oil in the tubing from the air cleaner and compared it to my engine oil and its the same.I checked the hose from the valve cover to the intake manifold and doesnt seem to be any oil in it.I had it out two weeks ago and ran fine and just started it up and no smoke.Worried,dont want to go through what kinarfi is going through right now.The nose splint does sound tempting...Something i could use should i decide to wax a trailer(LOL)

I went for ride fri, ran great, new controller, fun time,, loaded on trailer, went to change oil, wouldn't start!!?? Got a hold of mechanic from silverbullet, ckd compression 125 ,100, 45, " 0 " %&*^$#@((!!!! Well, better here than home, no help there for dumb old driver!! Silverbullet shop going to rebuild motor, get me going on rides, before I head home. He has been great so far, so no worries here!!! Have to be fast, not staying much longer... Love riding here, hope I get to some more.....Quig

All you have to do to check motor is pull hose off valve cover when motor is hot.If you see blow by or have smoke coming out you could have problem.It sound like its ok but always keep filter oiled and clean.

I would check the head gasket between 45 & 0. You may not need a rebuild, just a simple head gasket.

Sounds scarily familiar, with the engine running, pull the breather filter off the oil air separator and see if you can feel any air blowing out, should actually be a vacuum, if it's blowing air, you may be on your way to my problem and need to re-ring, suggest you check you compression also. Having oil in my intake was part of the reason I flipped my intake manifold, although I do like it a lot better that way, I was afraid that the oil was messing up my MAP sensor and the idle air thingy so I flipped it so the oil would drain into the cylinders and burn. The only disadvantage is that if you get water through your air filter, it also goes into the cylinder instead of pooling in the intake to evaporate over time, I towed my home one day in a storm and didn't run it long enough to get it warm and dry up the water after I got home and left some water in a cylinder. When it comes to compression checks, one thing I the machine shop found on mine was that the carbon had built up on the exhaust valves and that was why I could feel the air blowing out the exhausts, but the exhaust valves were good, but the intakes were worn and needed to be replaced.

I have 855 miles on it.It had 9 miles when i bought it and always carry a spare filter and change after every ride with the clean one.I have two hoses to the valve cover,one small from the intake manifold and a larger one going to the air intake before the throttle body.I disconnected both and have a very little air coming out the larger one but no noticeable smoke.

with out getting out of my chair to go downstairs to check for sure, I have about 5000 km on mine, but I know I ingested some dust when I first got it and hadn't snorkeled or changed filters

At one point, I put a small bottle between the intake manifold and the valve cover to collect the oil that was coming through the breather hose, eventually, I vented the air/oil separator via hose to where the hitch receiver is and capped off the line from engine to manifold.

They must have changed the design because mine does not have the seperator.

You should check your vent hose to you breather canister to check if the hose is pinched or the canister is pluged. This will curate pressure in the crankcase and push oil in the intake manifold please note and get back to me on what you find.

On mine, my rings were shot and I had tons of blow by, so I'm still in the final stages of putting it back together, see my "HELP, reringing my engine, and finding problems post. And please, get a good selection of shims in for us.

As mentioned in previous post i have no canister.Mine is an 09 and it did not come with one.See image,only canister is for coolant.Large hose from valve cover goes to fresh air intake and small hose to valve cover goes to intake manifold.

Wow, that's a lot of shiny and pretty, oh and clean too. Does the larger tube from the valve cover feed directly into the air tube?

yes it does,gotta look close and you can see it.That picture was taken right after i bought the trooper.It only had 9 miles on it and before i took it out for the first time i had removed the air filter box and installed the tube and K&N filter because of all the horror stories i heard about the stock one.

Then I would not worry too much on it. Whenever the engine is running there will always be a fine mist of oil in air. Going into it intake, like most vehicles do the mist will enter, hit the wall of the intake and start to form into bigger drops that could pool in the intake. I don't see as it being a problem, clean it out and run it.

Going to do just that and keep a real close eye on it.My question now is anybody else have one that did not come with the oil canister? just wondering why they had it then did away with it if that was the case.

Hi Rick, How are you doing? Just wanted to let you know mine is also an 09 and mine did not come with a canister either Stevozz How many miles do you have on yours now?

I am doing good too. Hey Rick do you ever get to the flagstaff area to ride, I was never there yet and would like to try it someday. How far are you away from flagstaff? we have to hook up one of these days and do some riding. I would love to meet everyone but to find and to get the time to do it is hard.

Been there but not to ride.Beautifull country up there.I live in Southern California and its about 350 miles or so away.We also have a place in Lake Havasu and I think its only 60 or 70 miles from there.I have heard there are some trails up there but never looked into it.It would be great to get together,maybe even during the summer months it might not be too hot up there.Have to checkout the weather info.

You do live a ways from there. Thought you were closer. Yes we will have to look into it, let me know what you think ok. I have this feeling its going to be a very hot summer so yes its going to be alot better higher up in the mountains. Talk to you soon.

Wow that is one clean engine! Yes you have the hose going in to the intake that is whear it should be.Just keep your eye on it.If you dont have smoke coming out of breather hose you are good to go.Make sure the oil is not duluded with gas from runing to rich I think the way your intake snorkel is running stright up what little amount of oil it just runs down in to to the throttle body no big deal. Would add and oil canaster so this will not happen again.Thear cheep and are chrome to look good.It is not necessary to have.

here's what I did to keep the oil out of my throttle body, first picture is of a catch bottle between the valve cover and throttle body, 2nd is my mounted air/oil separator, 3rd is how I built the air oil separator, the breather element was epoxied to the end cap, silicone would probably work also, Plus I turned throttle body upside down so the oil drains out to the cylinders.

Recently learned/heard something about silicone. Oil will eat/degrade some silicones, Napa salesman said to use the "Napa ultra" on my oil pan because it is "oil resistant". Anyone know anything about this?

      the regen braking on my e1 has stopped working unless (for eg) I am going down a hill in low and it's slowing things down to stick to the 10kph limit. when I drive and take my foot off the accelerator it's not initiating the regen to slow things down and instead just coasts at whatever speed it is at, or speeds up as the regen is not limiting it. the brake lights work, so it's probably not a fault with the sensor on the brake pedal
       
      hoping someone else might be able to provide some suggestions on things to check, as the mob that I bought it off seem to have gone silent on me

      I have a 2017 Intimidator XD4 800cc 4x4.  It will run great and then it's like it goes into safe mode and only runs on 1 cylinder.  It's not fouling out the plug when it happens.  Some times when I stop and restart it, it works fine.  First I thought it was a spark issue, then a fuel issue, but I feel like it's a short in the wiring some place.

      Hi all, learning about my new T-Boss 760 from TSC, and am trying to find the actual dip stick to check the oil, funnily enough.
      Does anyone have a picture of it or something? It's crazy that I can't find it...yet here I am.
      Also - any advice on oil? Manual says 15W/40 "SJ" but I'm told the SJ spec doesn't exist anymore.
      Gentleman at TSC said to use any 15W/40, but I'm very nervous about causing an issue this early on by using the wrong oil.
      Anyone have advice?

      I wouldn't say that after a year of owning this thing, that I would go out and buy one again. Certainly one that was used and abused, but at the time I needed something and this was in my price range. I could tell that it would need some work. I however didn't know the half of it. This was my second UTV. The first one was and older American Sportsworks Carbide 7150 that was a total piece of junk. I got it for next to nothing and was a project piece. I got it running and rode it for a bit but it was way not what i needed and it finally burned up and was set aside. Anyways, so I bought this one from a farmer. I'm not positive of the exact model but it originally came from Tractor Supply. per the stickers on the bed and its a camo color. Upon first inspection when I got it home, it was a mess.
      1. Had a water leak - The leak was in two hoses one of which was a short one that came from the rear of the engine and I literally ended up cutting it off. Well getting another one on there took hours and was simply horrible.
      2. Had an oil leak - This is my concern today as I was never able to figure out for sure what it was going to take to fix it. More on that in a min once you have a full account of where i've been in this thing.
      3. Had a bad clutch - Replacing the entirety of the clutch system wasn't all that bad except its a tight space to work in to do this repair. was a pain to figure out the angle that I needed to get the cover off and then back on again but figured it out the second day and got it done.
      4. Had bad Universal Joints - this was a nightmare because they originally put 18mm ujoints in the thing which I was not aware of so when my parts came in of course I had the 20mm that they started putting in, from what I can understand, was the very next year. Finding the 18mm ones was all but impossible so I bit the bullet and did the full conversion to the 20's.
      5. Had bad Tie Rods.  - Tie rods were not a problem. However while in there I noticed that it was a little low on brake fluid. The fluid that was in there looked fresh. Sure enough there was a line leak there so i had to get new lines for it. I almost just ordered the master cylinder at that time but had seen the  fluid coming from the other end and thought yeah it should  be ok. That was a stupid decision. Yet another parts order to get one. Once delivered it was not a prob just replace, fill, bleed and good to go.
      6. This was about the time the panic set in. I needed to check the other oils and the final gear oil was mostly empty and what was in there I'm still not was sure was gear lube. Luckily after clearing it out and refilling it, there didn't seem to be any issues with the final gear. So far that is.
      7. So at this point I figured that it was ready for my first trek with it to the  gold claim and off  we went. This was a 14 day venture in the middle of nowhere over 300 miles from home. I had tested it over the course of 5 days and except for the oil leak it looked like all was good with the exception of blowing a little smoke. Day two in the sticks it decided to just die on us out of the blue. I checked the spark and it wasn't there anymore. The plug wire had come apart. I made one that worked until I could get a replacement. It still wouldn't start but I was getting spark. ended having to remove the fuel pump and clean it up. I then had to pull the fuel injector. I don't know why it ran when it did. It took over 4 hours of running brake parts cleaner and air through it before I could get any fuel to go through it. Luckily after that most of a day delay, I'm glad to report that it did its job rather nicely for the remainder of the trip.
      8. After that ordeal and in the neighborhood of about $800 or so for parts and oils and all it looked a little brighter. I did still have not only the oil leak to fix, it started blowing more and more smoke. I keep the oil up but it uses quite a bit. if used in a whole day I'm adding at least a half quart. Its made three trips now in this described state. The only new things are that it has gotten very difficult to shift which is likely that pair of shifting gears, the blowing of smoke that is almost for sure a sign that I have to rebuild the top end including the top end kit and do the valves at the same time. Now the oil leak. 
      So this leak I don't quite know the part names but it is coming out from around the shaft coming from the front of the engine. My diagram does not seem to show that there is a bearing in there but I would think there has to be. So I can't order a part that doesn't seem to exist. Now the part I still can't figure out is am I going to have to pull the motor and split the case to do this repair or with the four bolts in the housing will this pop out into my hand and be a simple replacement? Of course after removing that shaft which of its own was no fun because of the requirement of almost having to remove the entire differential to get it out.
      Sorry for the lengthy story but I think that it shows some of the pain of these things. I grew up riding dirt bikes, motorcycles, and three and four wheelers and I can say that none of them were ever as difficult to fix stuff as this Massimo is. Heck have done motorcycles from the frame up with modifications and it wasn't this difficult. Let me  qualify that statement, I'm speaking of Kawasaki, Honda, and Suzuki motorcycles only once did ever work on a Harley and thinking about it that was horrific as well.
       
      Thanks for any words of wisdom besides junk this crap for a 17k to 30k upgrade. Only cause I'm 5'9 and my wife of 40 plus years is 6'1 and told me that i can't have the Kawasaki Teryx 1000 that I drool over. Getting old has really curbed her desire to deal with my toys over these four decades....
