Hisun Sector 450 (2021) - help diagnose rear diff issue (short video included)

When we first heard the noise, we immediately stopped driving it...at first we thought it might be a linkage issue, but after further inspection looks like the sound/jolting is coming from the rear diff. Took a video below...

Anyone know what is creating the diff to skip/jump like this? We drained the diff oil and didn't look terrible, no metal.

Other info that may be useful:

1400 miles on it

Recently tightened the E brake

Have you watched the driveshaft when this is happening. I have an Axis 500. And had the splines on the drive shaft bad and the cup on engine bad. Replaced both and have been great for almost a year.

If not the drive shaft/cup, then I going to guess it is something inside the rear differential.

As far as the video goes. It would be better to upload to YouTube. Set it to anyone with a link and post a link to it. I had to download and play with VLC to watch.

Were you on a hard pull, level or going uphill when it 1st happen?

Thank you for your response! We tore apart the rear diff and you are 100% correct. The splines inside the rear diff and drive shaft/coupler piece were stripped. Poor design... no zerts to grease it and it was pretty badly rusted out. This issue began by simply pulling out of the driveway after it had been sitting a few days. The use before that was also mellow, level ground, nothing difficult or torquey. Just rusty and hit it's limit. 

FYI for anyone with sinar issues, ee found good prices for the HiSUN Sector 450 parts via telephone from Yarborough Equipment in Strafford MO.

There have been several reports of this on various Hisun models. Seems to be more metalurgy or heat treating issue than corrosion since the threads seem to strip out. Should not be any real reason for additional grease past what it takes to assemble the splines initially, so I dont see it as a grease issue, just soft metal that strips out.

You can probably go to Alpha-sports and search the parts diagrams and compare the part numbers.

You should also compare the part numbers for the front differential as well.

Because just like a 4x4 automobile, when the utv is in 4 wheel drive, if all 4 tires aren't pulling the same. Something else will brake.

FYI even different size tires on the front and back on a 4x4 automobile can cause damage to the 4x4's drive train.

      2020 Tracker 800 sx front end noise

      I have a 2020 800 sx with about 16 hours on it.  From day one I have heard a clunking noise from the front end going over bumps.  Has anyone else experienced this?  Also this past weekend while out riding I heard a noise that sounded like the dump bed bounced three or four different times, again has anyone experienced anything like that.  Thanks, gary

      Shifting issue

      The Axis 500 will not shift into low or reverse.  I have high when it should be in low and all the other places it is reverse.  The gears in the shift cover are fine and I shifted it when the cover was off and yet no change (so it can't be the shifting mechanism gears).  I t has been difficult to get it into low for awhile.  But now it is either high or reverse, no neutral either.

      Major Cabin Intake Noise Reduction

      Most of us complain about the ridiculous noise in the cabin. My wife likes to ride but the noise is a major downer. You can’t even have a conversation without shouting at each other. Well, I manage to reduce the cabin noise by approx 200%!

      I addressed the intake that is poorly placed right between the driver and passenger. First, I cut the air filter inlet pipe in half (pic 1). I then reinstalled it upside down (pic 2). I then attached a flexible intake tube (pic 3) and directed it behind the cabin (pic 4). Major difference.
       
      Then I covered the interior engine cover with Dynamat extreme and then 200 mil Chaogang sound deadener / heat shield mat on top of that (pic 5). Since I cut off the intake and redirected it, I completely closed off the intake (engine fence) so no engine noise can come thru (pic 6). It also reduced the heat approx 50%. I did leave on the heat mat that came stock on the engine cover, so it has 3 different mats. It was a snug fit. Major difference again.

      My wife rides all the time now since we can have a conversation when we ride. Major improvement to my riding experience. Thought you might like to check it out.

      Bobcat 2200 dump bed relay pops fuse and stalls after warm

      I had to remove the relay for the dump bed due to it popping the fuse for main key power. I have tried to find a short but nothing seems to out of normal. I also disconnected the dump motor and switch and still pops the fuse. Also, when the machine is warmed up i get about 5 to 10 of work out of before it stalls. Once I can get it to start again I have to use the choke to keep it running.

      550 - Diff fluid change and final drive?

      Howdy y'all,
      I have the service manual, but it leaves me with questions.
      1)  It is time to change the diff fluid.  The service manual says 80w-90 for the rear and Dextron 3 ATF for the front!  Is that correct?  That seems odd to me.
      2) The service manual also speaks of the need to change the transmission fluid but gives no detail about it.  What needs to happen here?
      3). The service manual also discusses changing the final drive fluid with 80-90 Hypoid.  Is the final drive actually the tranny?
      Any details about the changing of the fluid or what fluid to use ... or even other things that need to be changed that the manual does not mention would be appreciated.
