The new STI V-Roll is 14" and is the HOT NEW Paddle for large displacement UTV's.....but 185.00 each is high....

I am currently waiting on a reply from Dave at Fullerton Sand Sports, I saw him at the Sand Show and he states that he has a 12" rim that fits on the Trooper....???? I will post more when I know more...

I would recommend a Set of Paddles for the Rear....Turn your front tires around....4x4 engaged....Rear Locked...Front Unlocked

185 doesn't sound too bad if it's quality tire. My highlifter outlaw 2 was about $190-210 each cost depending on width.

Did you meant turn the stock far east around backwards on front? (such as swapping front right for left and left for right side)

Yes I do mean that....it works for the Rears as well....but Paddles make a huge difference due to the weight back there....But it also depends on much performance you are looking for....

Keep in mind, we have only tested this in a "will it move around the dunes?" aspect....lol

Turbo takes out all doubt though.....

The 12" wheels will fit on the early Troopers but not on the others. The early ones had smaller brake calipers. The bigger calipers hit but you can grind them back to make them work. As far as paddles go, I would go with a 30-31" x 12" wide. This will give good floation and not kill your power. To go good on the dunes, you really need the turbo. I have some 33 x 16 on 15" rims that will bolt right up I'll sell the pair on rims for $300 plus shipping, but a stock machine won't pull them. The rims are nice super light ones. I run 33 x 13 on 15s on mine. I used to run the big ones on the back and the 13" wide ones on the front. It did real good but I decided it was a bit too much tire and it would pull my rpms down on bigger climbs. I don't run rhe dunes much and figure the 13 will serve me fine.

Lenny, you are correct in that the OLD Trooper had smaller discs....but I am being informed that there is an excisting 12" rim with enough offset to mount to the NEW Troopers....If this is the case...than a STOCK Trooper should do just fine.

What brand are the tires? I am a little worried about going too aggressive and overloading the engine.

When you say 12" wheels fit "early" troopers, how early we talking? 09'?

Posted

The first paddle tires I had were 27" on 12" rims. Had 4 of them but it didn't really have enough floation but they didn't do bad. Much better then stock tires. Paddle tires are 'Sand Tires Unlimited'. Paddles are pretty much same depth as new, about 1". There are 18 of them. Tires hold air great. Haven't put air in them in about 2 years and they are still firm. I had no trouble pulling them with my supercharged engine. When my engine was stock I could barely get going.

Noc, you are correct, that was one of the 08/09 mid year changes....8" discs OLD to 10" discs NEW/CURRENT...remember the first Troopers would NOT stop...lol

Mine is a 09 only thing i could check for is the brake rotors diameter being 8" or 10"? also there's no cv on end of one rear driveshaft if i remember correctly....

Is there any other more telltale signs to look for?

There were SOOO many changes that first couple of years that it is really hard to say.....but yes the Rear Drive shaft was changed from U-Joint to CV as well, the brakes were the BIG change because that is what made the 14's Standard equip.

what were you running up front when you were running the 33x16 paddles in back?

The turbo would pull the tires but I don't know how the narrow steering tires would work up front. I would run in 4x4 but didn't need it except on the larger climbs. 4x4 added only a little bit extra.

Going back over all the info everyone has shared, I keep coming back to this. Just can't get my head around why/what turning the front tires around does for us? I believe you that it works, just can't figure out how?

The stock tire setup on the Trooper has the lugs facing towards the outside, like a farm tractor. The idea is to push the loose dirt to the sides in order to get down to the firmer stuff for traction. Propulsion on the sand comes largely from the weight of the sand that gets thrown rearward. An equal and opposit force thing. Thus, the tires want paddles or the lugs turned to scoop up the sand and throw it to the rear. The faster you spin the tires, the more sand weight you throw rearward and the faster you go or the better you climb. If you have so much tire so that you can't get the engine reved up becaues it just does'n have enough hp, you stay bogged down or in lower gears. Too small a tire, and even if you can spin them, you don't throw enough sand rearward and you will also dig in. Like BuggieDude said but in different words, it's a balance between flotation and available power.

The first 50 as they were called. Steel diamond plate deck / skid plate that is weld to the tube frame. Even under the motor. Steel diamond plate deck weld in the cargo rack / roll bar over the engine. Rear driveline with u-joints, no CV joints. The smaller rotors. Gas tank mounted in the front under the hood near the steering. No dust covers on the steering rack. Storage area under the passenger seat. The biggies easy to notice would be the gas tank & weld skid plate.

Ok, this deviates a little from the thread topic but I thought I would try continuing it here and see if I get any traction.

Like I mentioned in the beginning, I'm planning to make my first trip to the dunes. Glamis sand dunes to be exact. What sites are best for tent camping vs trailer camping? can you ride from north end to south end? Any pointers or tips in general are greatly appreciated! I am meeting up with in-laws from LA who are driving down and I want to show them a good time, know as much about this ahead of time that I can.

There are a few others that can answer better then I about it but i have only driven past it and from what i saw there are plenty good open areas where you can do both. When are you going there?

Who can tell me about the legalities of running my T2 and a dirt bike in CA.? Spark arresters, safety flags, and permits right? The permits are confusing.... I need a permit to camp, a permit for a campfire, a permit for the T2 and bike to ride on the dunes, a permit per car/truck I drive in? Are any of these permits one in the same?

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't trooper "carb certificated" ?

Whips/Flags are MANDATORY for everything....

The permits are something I cannot comment on as I have not been to Glamis a few years....however, to answer the "CARB" approved question....yes the Trooper and ALL Team Joyner USA models are/were EPA and CARB approved....

Camp sites are everywhere....but I personally like the "Washes" next to the Railroad Tracks on the West side of the Dunes south of the Glamis Store...anywhere south of Wash 7, Than there is Ghecko Road on the East side of the Dunes...I have only camped over there once....but it has Restrooms preiodically along the road and so on....the Washes are STRAIGHT UP camping or RVing...

Riding south to the 8 or to Butter Cup is possible yes....it is a nice 30-40 miles....

I hope this helps...

2021 Hisun Axis 500 UTV (From Lowes)
      Will NOT START
MY apologies if this is to much info just wanted to give yal the most information possible for help.
I'm a so called diyer. An Electrician by trade 21yrs. I got my S×S from my last job. The contractor purchased this S×S for this specific job brand new, from Lowes. They used it for hauling materials, tools, & a little bit of anything you can think of on an Industrial type job site.
I remember getting on the SxS one time & pushed the gas petal all the way to the floor & SxS had very little power.
So anyway ,when the job finished up back mid July this year (7/2024) , I asked the contractor what they was going to do with it. I was told to take it. Otherwise it would go to the contractors yard (storage yard) & most likely rust away.
Took it home washed it , it had a heavy coat of dust on it & in it dust was every where. My helper & I had to push it on the trailer to get it home.  After washing it throughly I let it sit & dry out for a good day and half, maybe 2 days. Before trying to start it. NO START. Will turn over & try to start but thats it.
So here's what I've purchased & installed. New Air Filter, new spark plug, new air idle control valve (AICV), new throttle position sensor, new throttle body, new oxygen sensor, new digital dash speedometer/fuel gauge/clock.
Also drained the old oil & gas & replaced with new oil & 93oct. gas. I should probably mention that I've changed the AICV twice. The 1st time I changed the AICV I was able to get the SxS started & let idle for at least 10-15min. Drove out of the garage, with very little power,  turned it around & barely got it back in the garage. That was the one & only time I've been able to start the SxS. I've also cleaned the Throttle Body and & intake with TB cleaner.  So after that the AICV was  making weird noise so I pulled it out & tried cleaning it, pretty sure I messed it up. So I purchased a Throttle Body that came with new AICV & TPS. Still NO START.  I've checked the fuel pump & the fuel injector.  I took the injector off still hooked up to wiring & turned the key over, the injector sprayed a lot of gas out kinda the size of a volleyball. I've also checked the clearance gap on the intake & exhaust valve. But today 11/2/2024 I'm going recheck spark plug gap & the valve gaps. And alot of other checking. Would the driver side seat belt have anything to do with it not starting?? I know the driver side seat belt has to be in gauged for full throttle "going fast". Thing is the drv. side seat belt will latch but feels like might be messed up inside of it. Tired opening it up but to no avail.  I've never had a S×S or 4wheeler so I was really excited when I got the S×S,not so much anymore.  I work on & fix my own vehicles usually no problems.  But this SxS is kicking my ass.
So if possible & someone could help me with some ideas or tell me what Im doing wrong or did wrong, I would greatly appreciate it.  Thank you for reading thus far.

The conversion took about 350lbs. off the vehicle.  It never rode great, but now I feel every  crack in the road.  I have backed off spring compression nut to the point just under where they would move around if suspension was at full extension, but it is still very stiff.  I would like to put some softer coilover springs on it, but I have no idea what the spring rate is with the original springs so I would just be guessing on what to order.  Does anyone have the data for the original spring compression rate?  I am willing to give up a little ground clearance for a softer ride. Right now when sitting still the rear suspension is at or near full extension and the rear tires have several degrees of camber which will cause uneven wear if allowed to continue in this state.

      Hi
i have a 2019 Coleman 550 Outfitter.  The tail gate has a pin on each side, that snaps into latch blocks that are mounted on the inside of the tail gate opening.  There are two M6x16 pan head screws(bolts?) that hold the latch blocks in place.  The screws enter from inside the bed body, and I can’t figure out how to access them.  This is right by the tail light assemblies.  I tried taking a pan head screw out of the fender lip, but found out there is not a nut firmly inplace, to hold the pan head screw in.  Bottom line I’m making it worse.
coleman was no help.  If I could figure out how they attached the tail light, then maybe I could put the latch screws in through the tail light hole.  Any ideas?

      thanks

Recently I had an overheating issue on my 2022 Coleman Outfitter 550 (Hisun UT550) and to check to make sure it was fixed I took it out for a ride around the block. After a couple cycles on the LED coolant meter, I took it for a couple mile ride and on my way back I heard a loud metallic snap then a grinding noise. It was still able to move under its own power but very slowly. I was about 2 blocks from the truck so 'I limped it home and up onto the trailer. I know I need to tear it apart and look for what broke, but anyone have a guess as to where to start? I'm seriously getting tired of this damn machine! 750 miles on it and already replaced the belt, wet clutch, primary clutch, clutch roller weights among a few other things. Seriously, this friggin machine has spent more time on the lift than on the road. I thought I bought this new because it was from the owner of a tractor supply, but he registered it under the stores name making me the 2nd owner voiding any and all warranties.
Any Ideas what to look for would be appreciated.
      Thanks
