Mule Pro FX manual specifies 87 octane gas for the MulePro FX. In the non-mountain states that is "regular" gas. However, in mountain states "regular" gas is 85 octane. Was this an oversight in the manual, or is 87 actually the minimum octane required (this would require "midgrade" gas in mountain states. My Ford 350 V10 vortex requires 87 octane so it is strange that a utv would require the same.

I am still in the "shopping mode" for a utv so the answer to this question will help me decide on brand. Thanks.

The only way to be sure is to run some and listen for signs (detonation predominately)  of its not having sufficient anti-knock properties for your engine/l location and the weight of your right foot.

Your Pro FX is only 9.5:1 compression, that's no where near requiring premium grade fuel. Apparently one or more "automotive engineer" bureaucrats decided that 85 octane would be OK for "regular" grade fuel in the "mountain states".

Oddly, fora  bureaucratic action, there is actually some science behind that--air at higher altitudes has less oxygen content, making it less likely to fuel detonation l (no pun intended). So 85 octane may be OK.

FWIW the owner's manual for my Coleman Outfitter 400 says this about octane--It is incorrect.
Gasoline of Research Octane Number (RON) 91 is the same as an  [R+M]/2 "[(Research + Motor] average, aka  "USA pump rating") of 87.

Its compression ratio is only 9.3:1 for Christ's sake!

Just run some, drive normally and listen to what the engine tries to tell you. My 2012 Infinity M37 (11:1 compression ratio ) has a "Premium" (91 [R+M]/2) octane recommendation--however I have been running 89 octane for 8+ years and 112k miles with no problems, even at WOT at 165 MPH...

      Just received delivery of a 2024 AMP Pro.  Thought I'd start a thread with my impressions as I use it and learn more.  There doesn't seem to be a whole lot of real-world usage information out there on this model.  Hope this will help others as they research.
      Intended Use Cases
      Fire mitigation / slash removal from a 5 acre forested and well-gamble-oaked property.  The previous owners thought as much about fire mitigation as I do about fashion: not much. Snow removal Stump pulling General hauling (rock, lumber, etc.) Weimaraner energy depletion.  Wasn't an original use case, but a nice added bonus.  Experiences So Far
      Wasn't impressed that two of the bumpers on the underside of the bed where it sits upon the frame were missing.  The metal on metal contact has damaged the powder coating and the frame.  I expect a little better QC.
      I've only put a few hours on it, so not a ton to report on usage.  It isn't quiet; it's silent.  I can't even detect an electric note from the motor. I removed (and subsequently replaced) the motor cover noticed that the motor is German and made by Schambuller.  The motor controller is Italian and made by Dana TM4.  Given the operating specs of both I found on the web, I suspect both are higher quality than the previous Navitas (which is supposed to be decent).  The motor is rated at 25 hp and 71.5 lb-ft of torque.  It feels very powerful.  All the torque is delivered instantly, if desired.
      The bed is huge and has an electric dump as standard.  Great feature but would like it to go up a bit more.  Probably not feasible from an engineering perspective, but I want and I need ;).
      Power steering is nice, but vague.  Probably common to many UTVs, but I am accustomed to more direct results from input.  Plan early and plan often.
      In our first full day of usage, we hauled about 1/2 as much slash as the entire rest of the year when I was doing it by hand cart.  I may get fatter, but I'll also get more done.  After a few days of usage, the battery meter has gone down by 1/10th.

      We have replaced the relay/fuse, water pump, fan & radiator cap. What are we missing? Fan still won't kick on.

      Fuel injected 700 starts great and idles great but touch the gas and it dies

      I just picked up a 2021 Coleman UT400 and one of the things it needs is a gas cap. I believe it needs the 2021+ version with mail threads. Anybody know where I can get one? Coleman isn't shipping anything out right now. I believe the part number is P315001811400000. The only after market gas caps I see available are before 2021.

      Check engine light comes on after engine runs continuously for 5 minutes or so.  I can shut down the engine and restart and check engine light goes out, then comes back on after running 5 minutes or so?  What ya think?
