What weight of oil and brand Joyner 1100

Recommended Posts

I live in the desert southwest where temperatures go above 115 a few days a year.  On my next oil change, I'm going to try 10w or 20w-50.  My Renegade oil pressure at idle is barely 10psi (new sending unit).  I prefer 20psi at idle.   I'm hoping that will improve my oil pressure at idle.  Edited:  The 2016 owner's manual for the Renegade (it has the same 1100cc engine as the Trooper) say to use 10W30-50 oil.

Monty Herbold...Run  Royal Purple 20W-50!!

And Dan B ......I ride out in Johnson valley Ca, .... I've always ran Royal Purple 20w-50.  First time out on start up had 30-40psi at idle and had 70+psi if I was on it...... But dropped to 10-15psi when just of the trail (Hot) and at idle..(still 70psi if on it)... Needed better cooling!   What you need is a Oil cooler kit + Royal Purple 20w-50!! That's what fixed it for me!!

Okay!  Thanks for the info.  I'll look at getting an oil cooler.  There was one time I noticed that my idle pressure was about 10 psi.  Then later during the same ride it was near 20 psi.  I'm wondering if a problem is developing in the oil pressure relief (bypass valve) adjustment; maybe sticking slightly open at times.  I'm not familiar enough with the Chery engines but I do know that regular cars have that adjustment in the oil pump.  Older cars had that adjustment in the engine block near the oil filter.

Mine was similar but, I could attribute the low pressure to oil temperature from the riding I had just been doing (lots of throttle and heavy loads).. I don't have an oil temp gauge but, I just know that the oil was hot LoL!! I'd go with  the cooler and if you got problems still.. I'd say it might be in the oil bypass for you.. If so, it's in the oil pump assembly on a chery engine! But, lets hope not!! LMAO

I have a 2022 500 Hisun product, I have had them in the past. I change my oil myself and trying to drain through the hole where I remove the plug is a mess.  How does everyone keep the belly pan clean during the oil and filter service?

I've never seen the temperature go high on this thing. the fan runs almost all the time even though the sensor is  reading at the very bottom of it's range. ive taken the cylinder head off.  (nothing definitive but maybe a little fuel on top of piston with oil in it.i don't think this has anything to do with my problem )head gasket is 3 layers deep and I noticed some grit that might have been in between layers but nothing to say the head gasket wasn't intact.  black carbon build up on piston. I've looked all over the head for cracks from over heating. I'm about to look again for hairline cracks that are extremely difficult to see. my buddy helping me said to order rings in case they are letting oil pass thru he also said get a new head gasket.. I'm looking at water in oil first and I'm not ordering rings. I haven't checked the oil cooler to see if it's defective yet.  I'm just hoping someone had a similar problem. my only problem so far has been having to change the spark plug every 100 miles with 93 octane run thru it.

I got an old 2003 Arctic Cat 375 Auto, and just bought a 2008 AC 650 side by side. Got a new starter, solenoid, and battery for the 650. Gonna change the crankcase oil and filter while I'm at it.
Anything I oughta watch out for from them that's done the starter/solenoid on this model?
Don't have a manual yet for the 650. Any recommendations for oil weight/grade?
      Thanks.

I know this sounds like a dumb question, but I just got a new Hisun 550 strike and I cannot find the oil dipstick to check the oil level.
