So I just spent 10 hours working on the brakes for my new mystery buggy, and still can’t get pressure. Never in my life have I had such a difficult time trying to bleed a brake system and i’m  a fairly competent mechanic. I’ve come to the conclusion that I need to try new master cylinders becuase these simply are not working... anyone have any tips for bleeding these wretches?

Do be offended if I state something you already know.  I'm just covering all bases.  This is how I bleed my brakes on my van and car.  My Renegade has three master cylinders (one for the clutch and two for the brakes - I believe that's how they're configured).

If you're doing it solo,

1.  Place a small glass jar at the wheel furthest from the master cylinders (usually the right rear). and fill the jar with about 1" brake fluid

2.  Connect a hose from the bleeder valve to the jar.  Make sure the end of the hose is submerged and fits snugly over the bleeder valve.  This will be your airlock.

3.  Fill the master cylinders with brake fluid.

4. Open the bleeder valve at the wheel furthest from the master cylinder (usually the right rear)

5.  Pump the brake pedal slowly about 3 times.  Important:  Make sure the hoses stay submerged in brake fluid at each wheel and you don't let the fluid level in the master cylinder drop to the point of pumping air into the brake lines.  You may find you can pump it more times before you have to refill the master cylinders.

6.  Refill the master cylinders and/or the jar as needed.

7.  Repeat steps 5 & 6 until you feel you've bled all the air out of that line.  If you have a helper, they can watch for air bubbles in the jar to cease.

8.  Close the bleeder valve at that wheel.

7.  Move to the next wheel (left rear) and repeat steps 3-7.  Then repeat for the right front, then the left front.

There are several websites that tell you how to bleed brakes.  I would suggest you take a look at them for pointers.  They can be of help.  You may have to bleed the master cylinders before you do the wheels.

So if you have not tried a vacuum pump do so before replacing your master cylinders ,  I have found over the last few years with the new brake systems this simple machine is a lifesend. The one I have is made by mightyvac and was about 50$ at my local auto parts store, as long as your master cylinder is full it will pull out all the air in a few minutes.

As with any forum you join, there is a requirement for an obligatory introduction... and that seems fair. How else do you get that first post in there without jumping in with some stupid question right out of nowhere?

Hi. I'm Space Ghost. Well, not really, but that was my call sign on my last deployment before an IED made me non-deployable, and I an now retired/disabled, and living on my wonderful VA disability. I did almost 28 years in total between the Army, Army Reserve, and National Guard. 1 deployment with the Reserve (Desert Storm) and 3 with the Guard (1 pre, and 2 post 9/11)

Married (going on 30 years) one of each. (both out of the nest)

Just picked up my first side by side a couple days ago. A 2020 Can-Am Defender HD10 DPS 6x6.

It's in pretty good shape, but as you can probably tell, it's sitting a bit high. Former owner put a lifting collar on the shocks.

The good = almost 17" of ground clearance. (30" tires)
The bad = incredibly steep driveline angles, and a pretty stiff ride.

      They will be coming off.

Other than that... clean as a pin and appears very well maintained.

Looking forward to seeing what this forum can bring, and hoping I can bring something in return.

      Hello All...
Just bought a 2014 Massimo 500 UTV.  It;s not running at the moment, but hopefully will soon.  I need a seat for it also (passenger side, if it makes any difference.)  It is a crank-but no start situation.  Just now starting to read the boards for solutions.  Apparently these models are well known for this issue.  If anyone has any suggestions, please feel free to chime in, it would be greatly appreciated.
      Thanks

I would really like to know what you guys think about this. I'll try not to ramble and make it as clear as I can.

I took this new job with companyX as a fiber splicer a year ago. I have a 45' bucket truck and 10or12 x 8 ft enclosed splice trailer I have to take home. Within the last 6 months all the management in the splice dept left. Now the power/construction management and higher ups are filling in. Just recently we were told travel to our 1st job is not payable even though we are in a company vehicle.
We are union so I asked the union business manager about this. His reply was be grateful you were paid travel as long as you were and that you don't have to drive your POV to the job.

Last week I had 50hr total. The job area is 4-4.5 hrs away. My time was reduced to 44.5 hrs since we were told this travel thing on Tuesday of that week. I wasn't hired for this area. I was hired for area a lot closer to home.

Pay is good. Work is not hard. Insurance is through the union and so far pretty good.
But I hate the thought of having to work extra just to make a 40hr paycheck. Anyone who has to drive as part of their job knows windshield time is not easy.

Anyway what do you guys think. Should I look for a different job or just suck it up because of the decent pay and health insurance.
