2018 ODES Dominator X2 Zeus

Recommended Posts

So I started out with the 2013 Odes Dominator 800. Had a full realm of issues incl.the cytrifical clutch blowing out and clipping my leg while simply driving it down to my mailbox.Traded it in fall 2018 with a cracked trans.case. Bought the 2018 ODES Zeus. Within a month the touchscreen wouldn't work. Shop 3x. Then engine oil coolant hose blew. Stayed in Playing Around MotorSports in Conroe Tx for almost a month. Approx 1mo.later the power steering motor went out. In shop for 6wks. Mind you this isn't just for pleasure. It's used for all Ranch purposes.  New motor only lasted about a month. Then it Sat for a bit. Alas the New motor came in.  It was bad straight out of the box. Brought it back home until the 3rd motor comes in. 6 months now and still waiting! Can still operate w/I power steering. So i am literally on my way home from Wolf Pen Gap in Mena ,AR. Where we go riding in the mountains on the trails. So, my handicap wife and I get to the peak of a mountain, put it in park and the engine dies.  I'm a diesel mechanic of almost 40 yrs of exp. Working on anything from a pressure washer to a big rig. Back to the saga. The bike won't start. All elec.is dead. Cooled it down for a while. Started checking for issues. Nothing worked. Called dealership mechanics. Was going through the gamut of things to try. Nothing. My wife mentioned smelling burning plastic earlier but smell had stopped. Well, started checking other issues. During this time,my wife found fresh bear  tracks. We were miles away from anything or anyone. Well, Found It! The wiring harness burned up and shorted out the bike. Thankfully I was able to rig it enough to get us off the mountain and back to cabin. All the money spent on fuel, cabin rental, groceries, time off work, arrangements made to have someone care for the farm, the list goes on,  to go out of state for the single purpose of our anuall trip. Half a day and the trip was ruined. Will be calling the bank ,dealership and a lawyer in the morning to deal with all the mess. Not playing around with people. Going straight to Tx.Lemon Law, BBB,

Well, Roy, you are having the Odes experience. I bought one in in Jasper, Texas, and it was fine for the first 10 hours. After that, it was a SNAFU. They could not make the engine work correctly. After looking at all the options, I decided I was going to Lemon Law them, or take them to Small Claims Court. Mike Smith (owner of Odes) finally agreed to refund my money. Google up Lemon Law in Texas. There is a criteria you have to meet. UTVs are covered by Lemon Law, in Texas. I had to go buy a Yamaha Viking, while the Odes was in the shop. And, if you try to sell it, you are going to find they have no resale value. Let us know what happens.

So I've got a 2022 Axis 500 UTV with only 50 miles on the odometer. It seems to have a strange grinding/squeeling noise coming from the clutch when decelerating or going down hill at lower speeds. Did some research, and found out this is apparently a fairly common thing. Alot of sources suggest the one way bearing is responsible. I'm hearing about quite a few horror stories about these bearings going bad on practically new machines, and when they replace the bearing it goes bad again shortly after.
Has anyone come up with a solid fix for this? I've read it may be possible to run the UTV without the bearing at all, is that true? Are the $20 replacement bearings from eBay and Amazon complete garbage, and is there a better one way bearing out there that's built stronger? Is there something else causing this bearing to wear out faster, or is the stock bearing complete junk?
Any input is appreciated, thanks in advance!

I generally use my challenger for light duty misc. use, and for plowing. The one thing I dislike about this machine is the difficulty in shifting. I've had it the shop and they adjusted the shifting lever, but I still have issues. Some times it shifts ok, but the problem is it is hard to get it to move the lever from high to reverse or low to high or from any gear to the other. Seems I always have to accelerate a little to get it to engage to what gear I need it to go to. This is definitely not normal.

My buddy has a ut400 that the forward gear keeps popping out of gear. She only has like 400 miles on the odometer .the shift cable has been adjusted and the shift lever has been updated / modified. All other gears are good. Is there an internal detent cam or something that wears out or shift fork that can be replaced ? Or is there some other magic that I can perform ? Looks like the engine needs to be split.

Recently I had an overheating issue on my 2022 Coleman Outfitter 550 (Hisun UT550) and to check to make sure it was fixed I took it out for a ride around the block. After a couple cycles on the LED coolant meter, I took it for a couple mile ride and on my way back I heard a loud metallic snap then a grinding noise. It was still able to move under its own power but very slowly. I was about 2 blocks from the truck so 'I limped it home and up onto the trailer. I know I need to tear it apart and look for what broke, but anyone have a guess as to where to start? I'm seriously getting tired of this damn machine! 750 miles on it and already replaced the belt, wet clutch, primary clutch, clutch roller weights among a few other things. Seriously, this friggin machine has spent more time on the lift than on the road. I thought I bought this new because it was from the owner of a tractor supply, but he registered it under the stores name making me the 2nd owner voiding any and all warranties.
Any Ideas what to look for would be appreciated.
      Thanks
