Commando 650 snorkel?

Recommended Posts

New to the forum and Joyners.  Rode plenty of other machines, even used to ride with Ostacruiser(yes I’m in some of his videos).  I have been doing some long over due repairs/modifications/maintenance to my commando.  I wired in a new voltage regulator, wired in a new ignition, moved and replaced the choke, wired in second battery(back up) on a switch),  slapped on some 30” mudlite XXL and a yutrax rear bench seat for the kids.  While doing all this I noticed the intake is rather low and the air cleaner inlet seems to be in a bad spot for sucking in dirt and dust.

Has anyone ran a snorkel on these? I’m sure I can’t be the first to think of it.  I searched but didn’t find anything.

Just a pic of my unit

since it seems no one else has done it I might as well be the first lol.

i went and did some basic shopping today, need glue and two more pieces tomorrow.

So far I’ve removed the old intake which was taped on and worn out.  Marked and used a holesaw to where it will come out.  The intake will be completely 1.5” abs, coming to a 3” adapter where the cone filter will be attached with a flow pot as a rain shield.  More pictures to come tomorrow

Was at Lowe's over the weekend. The wife and I seen they have a new Axis 550. That thing is sharp. Has a complete door. Speakers in door. Bigger engine. Bench seats. New styling all the way around. Looks to be more air tight than my 2022 model. I really like the looks but $10k is out of my price range for now. Unless I could sell mine. And the resale on the Axis 500 is nothing.
Went to the local wally world today. See a 4 person Polaris General 1000 on the back of a trailer. That Polaris looked exactly like a stretched version of the Axis 550. Even down to the vents in the windshield.
Just wondering if anyone can confirm or deny the Axis 550 is a copy of the Polaris?

Apparently, these are Hisun or at least they use Hisun engines. I can't find much info on them online yet.  Ran across a used one with just 100 miles on it as a very reasonable price.  Just curious.
Okay, more info...they are owned by Textron Corp who also owns Bell Helicopter, Cessna & Beechcraft aircraft, Ez-Go & Cushman and Arctic Cat and a bunch of other companies.
So are thy cheap Chinese crap machines or are they good to go?

I could really use some help identifying some disconnected components on a Yard Sport YS400. The first part is this pipe, which comes out of the exhaust port area or the cylinder. It looks like it had a piece of rubber hose on it, but the hose is gone, and I have no idea what it was previously connected to.

The second item is this vacuum valve looking thing.  Again only one line is still attached.  What is it's function and what other lines should be connected to it?

The last thing is this hose, which exits the side top of the fuel tank (not the fuel line hose) but is not connected to anything

Any help the community could provide would be greatly appreciated.  This UTV belongs to a friend, and I am trying to help him get it running correctly for his kids.

My "R" light on the dash will not go out when I take the UTV out of reverse and put it into any other gear. Is this just the light switch issue or will this effect engine performance in the other gears?
