I am considering a Hisun 550 for tooling around the farm> I have a Kawasaki Teryx 4 and deeply disappointed at the difficulty of getting to the engine and belt for repairs. I would like some feedback on the Hisun's reliability and ease of access to work on. Thanks.

I had a 700cc and working on it myself was not an issue. It was just that I had to work on it constantly after a few miles. It was always something going wrong. It kicked up dust really bad on gravel roads and swirls inside so covered anyone in it with dust. Engine heat was awful and really unbearable even with me trying many things to block or redirect the heat and dust. The engine itself was pretty tough but if you could put up with all the other bad things that went along with it. I would spend a few more dollars and have something you could use with no issues and still be able to resell it and get some of your money back. I'm not a fan of Hisun or any of their spin off brands from my experience. Others may chime in here and say I am wrong and I may be? I hope if you do it you have better luck than myself. You get what you pay for...

There is nothing convenient easy, or reliable about anything named Hisun..in my experience they are cheaply built, poorly assembled,  unreliable, and not backed by any thing resembling warranty or customer service

Had someone warned me before buying mine new at Tractor Supply, I would have bought the Honda or CF MOTO

                                  it's definitely      Chinese.  There are assembly facilities in Dallas for some.

My Hisun 550 with Coleman Outfitter stickers, is a Vietnamese based machine. At least that is what the tag on the frame says.  I understand these machines are partly assembled in Texas, likely with Chinese engines  and transmissions, and maybe with the Vietnamese frames.

It is a fairly crude machine. Don't expect quiet ride or easy maneuvering. Steering can be a chore in rough areas but serves the purpose.   Its a serviceable worker, but hard to explain. The feel is like what you get from a compact tractor, functional but a bit rough around the edges.    Mine has run OK for almost 100 hours with only a few minor items going wrong, all fixed by me.  E Brake is awful, very stiff and has limited adjustment and stiff shifting. You need to keep an eye on it as it can start to slip on hillsides.    Parts availability seems a bit sparse as are the details of the 550's technical manual

Overall, it has run and started OK even in this week's zero degrees F and wind.  Mine is used mainly for property maintenance and hauling fire wood out of the woods to the barn for processing/splitting and other maintenance chores.  Nice to have a winch, roof, windshield, and a pick up style tail gate with dumping bed.  I do not go trail riding with it.  I use care in operating it in the woods after downed trees for firewood, and not much open road work.  25 to 30 MPH is plenty on our country dirt road.  I've carried a full load of logs up a very steep hill in 4 WD and it handled it just fine. 

Access to engine is not great without removing seats panels and skid plates.  Even the bed came off for better access to the Ebrake unit.  Oil changes require a lot of rags, and brake kleen to clean up after.  

Seems to have adequate power in LOW, and even plenty of speed in LOW for work I do.  Not a luxury machine for sure.   Cost was a factor for me but it does what I ask of it so far.

I bought a new Hisun Sector 750 in Jan. 2021 mainly due to price and features. I also bought a plow with it to clear snow from my 350' driveway during the 2021 winter since we couldn't go south due to covid. Like Alien10 I use it primarily to haul firewood on our 75ac property and although licensed and insured I rarely take it out on the public roads. I don't abuse it but don't baby it either. I've used the winch a lot to haul large logs out of the bush to where I can easily cut them up and haul the pieces back to my wood pile.

Other than the first winter, it's stored in an uninsulated shed in the winter - only storage prep is to add and circulate sufficient fuel stabilizer. I've left the battery in and cables attached - so far it has fired right up in the spring. I have about 75 hours on the clock.

As for maintenance, other than oil changes, I've been fortunate - just an issue with steering last spring when it would suddenly jerk to the left while driving in a straight line. It was an intermittent and baffling problem. Also fortunately I found a sales/repair shop 10 miles from me that also handles Hisun and they were able to solve the problem.

All in all, I've had a positive experience with my UTV and it's doing what I need it to do. YMMV

I got a new 2022 Hisun Sector 750

I only use it for plowing and does the job but

The transmission is not that smooth and need to really pull it to get it into gear sometimes..  Getting it into LOW is a pain at times

It idles really rough.. The check engine light always pops up when I start but goes away after a few seconds

When i revv over 3000rpms the engine makes a heap of noise.. and can't go over 15mph without hearing it from the engine

 

You get what you pay for

      working on a coleman 550 out fitter , had a shit load of codes, coil, injector , and the map sensor for fuel injector replaced all 3 and figured it would start , but no joy have spark (new plug also and inline fuel filter) cleared the codes and still have the engine light , turns over fine but damn thing still will not start, friends daughters were driving it and turned it off to park , and went back to start it and same thing turns over but will not start , with this machine anyone have any ideas as to what the hell , I should be looking for , no plug's unplug checked wires none seem to be pulled apart or broken !

      I turned off the key and then tried to start it a minute later and it would not start. I changed out the fuel filter and the injector. still nothing. if i have the injector pulled out and close to the hole the injector will spray fuel into the hole and it will run but the minute you put the injector in it will die. any idea's please

      I have a 2013 Hisun with a 686 Yamaha engine.
      I purchased it from an individual and it ran fine as long as the battery was full.
      I replaced the stator and now it will not start (run).  It cranks fine, has fuel pressure, but will not fire up.  I replaced the coil, no luck there.
      a technician told me that it was the wrong stator and wants a mint to replace it.
      the wires all plugged in when I installed the stator.

      This mod is not for the fainthearted, as it requires some basic metal fabrication and welding skills.  But the result is worth the effort IMO.  I chose an aftermarket Honda Talon windshield based on economy, size, and construction (aluminum frame, DOT glass, folding, windshield).  It fits OK, a little narrow at the top, and you need to incorporate the lower section of the original acrylic windshield and build some additional plates, but better than being too wide.  If you are wondering why I attacked this mod, it's because mine is driven daily on the street.  Tired of fading, scratchy, hazy plastic.  Sucks in the rain; sucks at night.  Now I can see.

      Hello, All!  I've decided to replace the traction batteries in my 2018 Sector E1 with a 48V Lithium set. They may be expensive, but I figure the Discovery Dry Cell are, too. I am not looking for the max driving range, as I have never received near the brochured range to begin with, but a good mix of charge/ get work done/ charge is what I am expecting.
      I have settled on the 48V EAGL kit from bigbattery dot com. Each battery pack provides 30Ah. The kit ships with a charger, as well. The packs would be physically connected in parallel (using a busbar) to one another, maintaining the 48V voltage, but together would be able to provide the amp draw the buggy pulls when going up hill or towing a rake (rated 320 max continuous Amps). This is in comparison to the serial connection the eight 6V lead batteries. Each of the EAGL batteries looks to have its own BMS; am I correct in thinking I will have to use their included charger rather than (simply) changing the onboard charger to lithium mode? The chemistry of the pack is LiFe PO4, for what it's worth.  I haven't torn anything apart yet (to diagram), so  I am not sure how the dash will interpret the AMP draw, but the kit I am looking at includes a dash mounted charge indicator.
      If anyone has completed a similar conversion, do you have any tips? Specifically, how did you remove the original batteries, and how did you secure the new ones? I am guessing that almost any change from the stock batteries would involve at least some modifications. Any tips would be appreciated, especially things I may have failed to consider. Thanks!
