2018 Massimo 700 MSU. The machine started burning oil all of a sudden. One day fine-- next morning burning oil. Looking for advice. Do I pull the engine to inspect the top end or can it be done with the engine in place? Pro? Cons?

Any and all assistance is greatly appreciated in advance.

You can tear top end off in frame but before you do all that, do a compression rest and leak down test to see if it's rings or piston damage or valve issues..what oil are you using?  Too low viscosity will. Let oil get by. Crankcase pressure will too.. what does you oil look like? Black...milky? Clear?  Unless you just want to refresh it. Find out why it's burning oil before you start wrenching.

Thamk you Joe for your response.  We were out of touch for several days. Back home now.

I will do a compression test this PM. This machine has about 350 hrs. on it. Oil burning issue occured literally overnight. Really strange. Post compression test I will do a leak down test. I've run many compression tests on 4 and 2 strokes. Never a leak down test as basic comp test always indicated issue/no issue.

Does the HISUN engine compression relief mechanism interfere with performing a basic compression test?

I have avoided the extra 1 1/2 qts of oil experiment after observing my neighbor's results with this experiment on his Polaris. His wasn't so much an oil consumption issue as a beer consumption issue. However, he does have a very refreshed motor and his motor was tired with way more than my 350 hrs.

I'm running 15W40 here in the deserts of New Mexico. We do use the unit in Colorado during the summers however. I can't imagine that 15W40 may be too heavy for 70 degree days in Colorado but I am no expert in that regard either.

Your mentioning crankase ventilation is interesting as the machine only smokes off idle usually under load. Zero visual smoke at idle or below approx 2200RPM or so.  I will chase that aspect down as well.

Thank you again for your assistance with this.

I am looking to buy a small UTV to do work around my property and priced a brand new Massimo T-Boss 560 through Lowes @ $10,500 out the door or a  Dealer provided CFMOTO Uforce 600 at $11,500 out the door.    Are there any glaring reasons to go with the Uforce 600 at an extra $1000?  Is one model more reliable than the other?  Any input greatly appreciated.

Decided to do an oil change on the Massimo ...drained oil, screen was very clean even tho oil wasn't.  Then went to remove old filter.. holy crap ..I tried every tool I have, could not budge it..Went to store and got one of the end cap type..fit nice and tight, put a 1/2 in drive ratchet on it..nope..not moving.  Put a 18 on breaker bar o. It. The inside of the removal tool broke off!!  Had to weld it back together. Put a pipe on the bar for more leverage.  Finally broke it loose..
I have never seen a filter in my 55 yrs of working on engines so tight..And i was the one who put it on 2 yrs ago.  JUST HAND TIGHT!

Just bought a brand new 760 about a month ago. I'm at 20 hours which the book says is when you need to change the break in oil.

I must be crazy, but I can't find the oil filter. I've googled a million videos...everything seems to be 2019 or lower...and/or a 550.  They all show the filter easily seen by looking in past the rear passenger tire on the engine. There is absolutely nothing there on mine.

1.there seems to be very little info if you Google a 760, or anything Massimo newer than like 2019.

      2. Does anyone have a current model year 760 that can answer my riddle for me?

      I have a 2013 Hisun with a 686 Yamaha engine.
I purchased it from an individual and it ran fine as long as the battery was full.
I replaced the stator and now it will not start (run).  It cranks fine, has fuel pressure, but will not fire up.  I replaced the coil, no luck there.
a technician told me that it was the wrong stator and wants a mint to replace it.
the wires all plugged in when I installed the stator.
