Hi, I’m new here.  I’ve read a lot of strings about aftermarket parts, but not a lot is 100% clear if it works or doesn’t so I’m asking for anyone’s input on aftermarket ball joints that fit 08 trooper T2 and aftermarket rear trailing arm bushings

Any info on part numbers or specific brands would be greatly appreciated!

thanks, Doug

If it's specifically listed for your model. You should be okay.  I'm assuming that you're trying to lift the vehicle?

On most of these machines, there's lots of hard points that would need to be moved for a substantial lift. Things like frame tubes, and built in skid plates. Places where the drive shaft, or axles come through the frame. The manufacturer knows that it needs ground clearance. And it's typically close to maxed out for that vehicle.

If there's no conflict there, and the vehicle is listed as being a fit. Then there shouldn't be a problem. Especially if it's a reputable manufacturer, or vendor.

Hi Kenfain,

thanks for the reply. No not lifting it, just looking to replace ball joints and rear trailing arm bushings, having a hard time locating ball joints, especially in tumbler ridge Canada lol

I assumed others have ended up using aftermarket ones that are better quality then the stock ones, but I guess that’s not the case as no one has any input on aftermarket suspension parts that fit trooper.
I have  plenty of clearance on this one with 30 inch MaxXis Zillas I have almost 17 inches So no problem there

but thanks for the input all the same, greatly appreciated!

There are some old discussions in the Joyner forum regarding ball joints. I recall seeing some users mention alternate products that worked for them. You can also look for the part numbers in the parts catalog and do a Google search to find them. If the parts are not specifically made by Joyner they often turn up under other manufacturer brand names.

If anyone else is looking for what appears to be decent quality ball joints, fits 2008 t2

you do have to teem/drill the knuckle to fit the stud part but the ball joint presses into control arms perfectly on mine

does anyone have info on shim size for wheel bearings to get rid of play in wheel bearings

my wheel bearings are new skf and press into hubs perfectly, but still have play when the axle nut is tightened up because there doesn’t seem to be preload on them. I have read other posts about shims but don’t see where to buy them, what sizes needed, who has made their own, or anything available in Canada

Any input on solutions appreciated

thanks

Can you describe what drilling you had to do to the knuckle?
I’m not sure what you mean by “teem/drill”...

The ball joint stud on the aftermarket joint is slightly larger diameter then the Joyner ball joint where the stud fits into the knuckle

you have to Reem or drill the knuckle to accommodate the larger stud on the aftermarket ball joint.

i also drilled my pinch bolts out to 3/8 so I could make sure the joints studs are Pinched in good and tight and that the bolts actually go thru the groove in the ball joint stud

But I’m still wondering does anyone have info on shim size for wheel bearings to get rid of play in wheel bearings

Thanks Grizz Country.
Once upon a time, Silverbullett had some shims for those wheel bearings. I have replaced mine with the SKF as well (twice, 7k miles) but didn’t use any shims. Just a small bit of play.

You bet, hope it helps someone out some day

Thanks mixfix, yeah I did see silverbullets posts about shims but don’t think I heard if anyone had success with them or not, so I figure I’ll make some and try it out to see if it fixes that small bit of play

good to know your getting that many kms out of bearings even with a bit of play!
Thanks Doug

My wife accidentally ran the Axis 500 into a fence and tore the front end up (broke her arm too). Just wondering where the best place to get front end parts? I know she busted the knuckle but haven’t jacked it up yet. Thanks guys for any help!

This post will explain how to hook up your PC to the ECU of a Hisun/Coleman/Etc UTV to be able to read error codes & engine parameters for troubleshooting purposes.
This is applicable to all small engines using the Delphi MT-05 ECU. This should cover all fuel injected Hisun models, as well as various other Chinese FI engines, as the Delphi MT-05 ECU seems to be the favored ECU solution.
Even though we get actual engine error codes to display on the dash, sometimes we have “pending codes” (not yet confirmed by the ECU) or other intermittent issues that are hard to diagnose, for example a poorly connected sensor that may give intermittent false readings, or a sensor that’s putting out bad date, but not bad enough for the ECU to realize.
The setup requires 2 cables, which are available for around $25 combined, a PC with a USB port, and some charityware software called “HUD ECU Hacker”. This gives the same functionality as the $300 dealer code scanner for a fraction of the price.
In searching I found info about HUD ECU Hacker, but I have yet to see info anywhere about how to hook it up to a Hisun, so I took the leap and bought some cables, and made it work. I will show a step by step of how to do so in post two.
I will be breaking this down into 2 posts:
Delphi ECU Info & Overview (This post) System setup & use Delphi ECU Info (Skip ahead to the next post if your eyes glaze over technical details)
The Delphi MT-05 ECU was developed to allow small engines to use fuel injection. A fuel injection system requires feedback from various sensors to operate efficiently. This feedback allows the adjustment of ignition timing, fuel injection volume, etc to efficiently and cleanly produce the most power possible from a given engine.
The MT-05 ECU has a number of sensors that are required for proper functioning including; Coolant temp, crankshaft position, intake temp, intake pressure, exhaust O2, throttle position, as well as some other optional sensors that are used on more complex vehicles.
From the sensors the ECU adjusts: Fuel injector timing/pulse, Idle air control valve, and ignition coil

The Delphi MT-05 puts out diagnostic data, however it is not ODB2 like a modern car, where is where it gets tricky reading it. There are three options, there is an old 16 bit piece of software Delphi has that is not able to run on a modern computer, there is the motorscanner tool for dealers ($300), or there is freeware HUD ECU Hacker with the proper cables.

I want to ditch my Kubota RTV-XG850 and its moronic twitchy throttle design flaw, get rid of the problematic engine and the 40 mph purposely throttled speed.
So far, I'm looking at the Honda Pioneer 1000 and the Polaris Ranger 1000, both of which have 1000-1500 lb payload bed capacity.
What other makes and models should I be looking at?

      Thanks for the help!

Neighbor rode their Coleman with the park brake apparently not fully released. Needless to say, things got pretty hot and even started smoking and the smoke was definitely gear oil smell. Looks like oil is coming from the area just behind the disc for the park break. Looking at parts diagram, there is an oring behind the nut/washer that attaches the flange to pinion shaft. I'm not finding anything on YT that would help with disassembly. Anyone have some experience with removing rear driveshaft ?
