GBC Motorsports’ Tires Give Winning Traction to Historic Sweep of Baja 1000

LONG BEACH, Calif., December 12, 2008 - GBC Motorsports is thrilled to announce that its tires supported the historic victory of the Bi-Polar Extreme Racing Team/Arctic Cat win at this year’s grueling Baja 1000. This historic win is remarkable in that it was the first time that a UTV completed the race.

The number one finisher was an Arctic Cat Prowler XTZ 1000 driven by Jim Creagan. Featuring 10” of ground clearance and fully independent suspension, the victorious Prowler XTZ 1000 was outfitted with GBC’s new Grim Reaper™ performance tires. Grim Reaper™ combines an aggressive tread pattern with deep wrap-around shoulder lugs to give you uncompromising performance and traction. This 8-ply rated all-terrain radial with up to 1,045 lbs. max load is constructed with a zig-zag center ridgeline, for superior puncture resistance and enhanced rider comfort. GBC Motorsports carries a wide line of ATV/UTV tires for all types of terrains and riders.

The number two finisher was an Arctic Cat Prowler XTX 700 EFI driven by three sets of drivers. Featuring 12.5” of ground clearance and full independent suspension, the second place finisher was equipped with GBC’s new Dirt Commander™ tires. GBC Motorsports Performance ATV tires are built to get you over tough terrains to your destination. Dirt Commander™, GBC's new all terrain tire, is a super tough 8-ply rated bias tire radial with up to 1,045 lbs. max load that gives you excellent puncture resistance. Its siped tread design also gives additional biting edges for better traction in mixed terrains.

“We put everything into designing the Grim Reaper and Dirt Commander as tough challengers capable of taming the most hostile terrain. The Baja 1000 was the perfect venue to showcase the endurance of our all-terrain, high-performance tires,” said Randy Tsai. “We’re extremely proud to be part of such an historic race and to work with the incredible Bi-Polar crew. Our congratulations go out to Jim and all the team members.”

The world’s longest race, the 41st Annual SCORE Baja 1000 took place November 19 - 23. Totaling 631.35 miles, the brutal race promises an array of machine-breaking hazards for most brands. Arctic Cat and GBC broke with the majority and not only survived the race, but overcame all odds to win.

I purchased a 2008 American Sportsworks Subaru TW265 UTV, with no manual and no previous knowledge. When idling, the steer column shakes uncontrollably, is very noisy, and might be from vibrations from the engine. Logically, I am thinking engine vibration moving up the steering column. I found a schematic, but that has not helped in identifying the specific problem.
      Any thoughts? Suggestions?
      Thanks so much

      Hey everyone,
I’m in the market for a UTV windshield that can withstand extreme conditions, including high winds, dust, and off-road impacts.
I’ve seen a lot of options out there, but I’m unsure which one will provide the best protection and durability.
Does anyone have experience with windshields that excel in these environments? Are there specific brands or materials you recommend?
I’m particularly interested in options that offer both durability and clarity.
Any tips or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated!

Looking for information on installing a OBD port or a lite to read codes in ECM.
I can not find a OBD port or a lite to read codes on this R2 with 800cc.
I have code readers and adapters for most ATV's. From what I've found so far. They don't have a connection for to read codes. I may be wrong. That's why I'm asking.
This R2 has had new IAC, TPS, MAP, fuel pressure regulator and fuel pump replaced. This was done by neighbor to try to stop surging. It still surges on start up and then settles down. But once you hit the accelerator it revs up to 2000+ rpm and stays till you block off IAC port in throttle body with finger. Once you do that it once again settles down and idles perfectly.
I want to know what the ECM is reading to help dio it.
This joyner is the first one I've run across. Well second one in a week. (my neighbors 2 of them) The other was a trooper with the 1100cc chery motor that had been setting for years. After cleaning up the fuse box connections. It runs like a top. Had to replace all gages with aftermarket gages. Water, oil, gas, amp. Only problem one was the water temp using original sending unit. Had to install 150 ohm resistor on the input wire to get it to read correctly + - 5 degrees. Close enough. Gas sending unit was/is for a boat tank 6" tall. All SS so it should last forever.
      thanks Dan D. aka staind
