Well, overheating finally resolved.. 500 miles on MSU500 now , runs great... Heres the rub.. transmission seems to be making a whining noise in gear only .. increases with speed.. anyone got any ideas?  Oil was just changed last month and is full and clear.   Just cant express how happy I am with Massimo!!! NOT!!!

no, its fully engaged, pulls normally. no noise shifting into or out of gear or while  idle in gear.. just a  whine as you drive that increases with more power.. no noise in neutral or reverse .. sounds kinda  like a power steering pump low on fluid.. but theres no power steering on it

not yet... My ATV mechanic is out of town for 2 weeks  .. seems  like its coming from  the CVT .. Continuously Variable Transmission section.. maybe the drive belts are already worn out at 500 miles? .. Would not surprise me.. Such poor quality parts in this thing .. just spent $1500 on it to cure the overheating  .. I really regret the day I let my Dad talk me into buying it instead of the Honda Pioneer.. I now have as much in this one as the Honda sold for.. oh well... live and learn..

Kawasaki's CVT's in their mules whine from day one at increased speed.

Really? I was not aware.  maybe it s not a big deal then... I sure hope so.......... but 500 miles on it without whine..seems odd it just starts now.. and you know how  I have  confidence in Jackassimo quality

yeah, once you get up to about 12-15 mph, there is a slight whine, but you're right, 500 miles with no whine, then all of the sudden... that's sounds suspect.

this whine starts at 3-5 mph and increases as you go faster in either LOW or HIGH gear positions.. .  does not make it in neutral so its not engine , has to be in that CVT contraption..

is your CVT similar to this? spacer.png

I believe so.. it use belts on tapered pulleys  to change the gear ratio according to rpm vs load .. I hope the noise is just the belts humming

well if it doesn't do it in neutral, then it's not the CVT belt or pulleys as they operate the same regardless of what gear you're in.

something internal.

Well, I guess when it breaks 5 miles in the woods, I ll find out  what is making the whine .. and you know thats when it will break , not unloading from trailer .. I m pretty sure its not the wet clutch or the gear assembly or bearings , because the oil is clear and clean ,no metal or clutch material in it, no burnt smell... and no noise at all idling or while revving engine .. so its in whatever turns with driveline.. but not coming from rear axle area..

Well, I asked for  help from Motorcycle Doctor that someone suggested.. They said jack it up on jack stands and run in gear to isolate noise.. seemed reasonable..  tried just rear wheels.. makes no noise, tried all 4 wheels off the ground... nothing.... not a peep.. just like revving in neutral.. NO NOISE!  . put it back on ground and the whine is still there. in high or low  range and 2 or 4 wd  .. scratching my head...

with only 500 miles on it seems unlikely its a wheel bearing or U-joint.. There is no slack in any of them.. I checked.. and they were all spinning 15 mph on jack stands.. no noise.  The noise isnt coming from a wheel, it sounds like a transmission noise, like a power steering pump or trans pump  but its not fluid drive, its belt... If it was wet clutch it would make noise on take off or idle but it doesnt.. It starts about 5 mph and increase with speed......   its just more weird crap that only Massimo seems to suffer from .. I guess when it breaks , I ll know what it was. ..................

Otherwise its running great.. I installed an adjustable temp switch  [ from EBAY , $19 } into the circuit where the old radiator thermoswitch connected,   with a probe to radiator . and set it to keep engine at 140-150 degrees  now that winter is here.. seems to work just fine.. No more overheating issues since Yamaha parts installed . Starts instantly, idles perfectly, plenty of power on trails.  4 WD works fine ,,,,JUST THAT DAMN WHINING from under my ass  .. annoying as hell..

How about a bearing on one of the output shafts? My riding mower had a bad bearing on one of the spindles for the deck, but it didn't have any play at all. But it would definitely make noise when the blades were engaged.

Just a thought.

Sounds like you've put some thought into this. You no longer have to be concerned, and you get some measure of revenge on the new boyfriend. It's genius in its simplicity!!!👍 But, can you really run at 20mph?

Belt started slipping when I used it in high gear. It works okay in low unless I'm trying to power it up a hill and then it slips.., Ordered a new belt and went to change it and found a good bit of oil in the belt housing. Has anyone experienced this? Belt looks fine. Only have 300 miles on this thing..

We have a 2018 Cub Cadet Challenger 400 and I found this Internally Threaded Bolt with a 10mm head size laying in the floor of the shop bay here on our ranch where we park the Cub Cadet.
Trying to figure out where it belongs...

I've had a Hisun Vector E1 for just a bit longer than is required for me to do some maintenance. While it's well-overdue, it only drives 1.5km a few times each week on a fairly decent gravel road (to the letterbox), and it has worked really well right from the get-go.
Looking at the manual it states that I need to use SAE80 API GL-4 Hypoid Gear Oil for the Main gear Case, and SAE80 API GL-5 Hypoid Gear Oil for the Front gear Case - unfortunately i can't find either of those online here in Australia. Plenty of options that look close, but, as someone who has never driven any vehicle before, I want to use the right thing and it's a tad confusing.
My question: Since there are no oils that are bang on SAE80 (they all seem to cover a range) would Liqui Moly Hypoid GL4 Gear Oil 80W-90  & Motorex Hypoid GL-5 Gear Oil 80W90 - be ok to use? (Or any other suggestions of what I might be able to purchase online in Australia) And would I have to drain out any existing oil from both gear cases?
This is a whole new world for me and  being able to find exactly what is specified in the manual hasn't made this easy!
