trailer hitch for E1

I was going to buy a trailer hitch set up to go into my Hisun E1's receiver.  All I can find for sale are hitches with 1-1/4" and/or  2" square shafts.   The hole on the receiver on my E1 measures roughly 1-5/8" square.   I'm guessing it takes a 1-1/2" hitch.  Where on earth do you get a hitch that size?

I check on at a Hisun dealer and measured about 1 3/4. I need one that fits too.  What is wrong that we can't get an answer to this problem?

I dunno.  It is kind of weird they would put on an odd non-standard receiver size like that.   I am thinking of fabricating one but have never gotten around to buying the material (if I can find it) to do that.

Mine and some others  that bought one from the same dealer came with a 2 inch adapter that fits OVER the Hisun receiver. I think Hisun left that off your unit. Dealer should provide you that adapter.

They know it's wrong, but don't seem to care.  As vendors love to say, it is a "nominal" 1-1/4" square (nominal as in "That's what we call it.").

My Coleman Outfitter 400 (Hisun HS400) came with the same 1.713"square receiver as the OP's machine, however it also came with a 6" or so long, 1-1/4" "adapter"--problem was that the adapter 's inner dimensions were 1.245" x 1.24"--I.e. Without a hydraulic press and a torch there's no way a 1-1/4" draw bar would go in that hole. 

Anyway, I got an email announcing that a Coleman rep would be at the store (our local Tractor Supply) just before Christmas; and being a glutton for punishment made the trip into town to discuss this issue. I had quite a go-round with the  "factory rep";  he removed the "adapter" from a UT400  they had on display and using his "reference tool" (a well-worn retractable 16' steel tape) proceeded to show me how it was indeed 1-1/4" square inside. So I trotted my butt into the store, grabbed  a 1-1/4" draw bar off the rack, brought it out, gave it to him, and said "You mount the damned thing then!" He failed of course and then declared the draw bar "oversized"--again using his precision 16' tape.

Seeing this was going nowhere I retreated to my barn and attempted to use my 1/2" x 18" belt sander to hog out the adapter (It only needs 0.030" more I told myself)--well three 60 grit belts later I had managed to make it at least square (1.245" x 1.245") and decided to go with plan "B", got out a 6" disc grinder and bastardized a 1-1/4" draw bar to fit the adapter.

plan "B", the bastardized draw bar (not my finest work, but give me a break, I've got Parkinsons--my neurologist says it's a wonder I can do this sort of thing at all):

This of course means that this is my draw bar unless I bastardize another, but it places a ball at 14" from the ground and  just took an hour or so grind down..

That is absurd you had to go through all that hassle ,  Cliff

I bought my Hisun used so who ever owned it before never thought to provide the adapter.  Sounds like it may not have worked anyhow.    So I will keep on my list of things to make, and will do it as soon as I get done with the dozen or so items of higher priority for me to make.

You should contact the previous owner and see if they have it cluttering up their garage--if you don't need a hitch it's just another thing to rattle, that's why I took it off.

Mine sat, covered with a rag, on a stool in the corner of my barn for nearly 3 months 'til I just recently (in part prompted by your post) got the ambition to do something with it...

I’m glad I’m not crazy! I have a Coleman UTV and have been to Tractor Supply, Jax, ATv stores, Basspro explaining this and they all look at me like, ahhh little lady you must know what you are talking about. I explain I’ve been towing horseS, driving trucks, atvs, tractors my whole life and never seen anything but a 1 1/4 or 2, but this one isn’t either and they all think I’m crazy. I’ve spoke to Coleman twice, they keep telling me 1 1/4 like your experience. Thank god I found this thread!

      So I'm interested in a side by side of some sort.
      Not sure what make/model to even look at.
       
      I would plan on riding on trails with very rough rocky terrain and plenty of mud. Maybe sand once in a long while. I like LOTS of power and drive fast, but also like a trail that is a challenge to get through. I think 4x4 would be a must. I like the idea of a supercharged engine, but I have never owned one, and would be a little concerned about long term reliability or expensive difficult engine repairs. If anyone knows quads, my favorite was the 2008 Polaris Outlaw 525 IRS. For dirt bikes, I raced a 2008 KTM 450 SX-F. So that gives you an idea of what type of off road stuff I liked.
      I don't like "utility quads" or "trail bikes". And likewise, I dont want a turd UTV. I want something that looks awesome and performs awesome. 2 seater with some cargo capacity at the minimum.

      When I am driving at 30 to 40 mph on the highway, the display will change from H (high) to R (reverse).  It does not actually shift into reverse, it seems to shift into neutral and starts losing speed and the gas pedal has no effect.  After the rpm/speed drops for 5 seconds or so, it changes back to H and runs fine for another minute or so.  You have to try to drive it at less than 5000 rpm or so, to try and keep this from happening.  Any ideas on what the problem might be?  It only happens at the higher speeds.

      2016 Hisun 500 runs rough no power

      Just picked up a Hisun 500 that had shift issues (corroded fan gear) which I fixed. It also didn't seem to be running smoothly then all of a sudden it got worse. It seems to miss on both idle and when pushing the gas pedal to the floor and doesn't seem to be running at full power. I've been working with a local person who is walking me through some steps, but I'd like some input from this group as well. What I've done:
      - drained the fuel tank and replaced it with 93 octane fuel and added heet to help with any water problems.
      - replaced the fuel injector.
      - disconnected the battery (several times) to allow the module to reset.
      - set the valve clearance, both intake and exhaust, within specs ... intake was tight but exhaust seemed fine.
      - replaced the battery.
      - replaced the O2 sensor.
      Nothing has helped. Not sure what the next steps are, but would appreciate any expertise that can be offered here.

      Code Reader for Delphi MT05 Coleman UTV 400 Hisun

      Is there a code reader available for the Coleman UTV 400?  I tried using the HUD ECU Hacker software and cables/adapters but no luck OBD to delphi 6 pin and KKL VAG as well as ELM327.  Will not connect.  I was able to get it to connect randomly a couple of times, but haven't been able to since.  I was able to clear and read the codes briefly.  I'm aware of the Tiny Scan 301 but it doesn't seem to be readily available.  There's a few out there but they are expensive.

      hello, i need help figuring out where all these wires go on this battery. I can't seem to find any pictures diagrams. As to what should or shouldn't be attached and where these two plugs go, that aren't plugged in. this was got as a project. would run then die and battery would have to be jumped off to start again stator has now been replaced but any help with this wiring would be appreciated.
