I have a MSU 500 and sometimes it acts sluggish in 4x4 and you can smell hot gear oil.

I'm Thinking it is something binding up the the transfer case or front differential but before I dig into it I wanted to see if anybody had a similar problem.

Thanks,

When you decide to go in, don't forget to post pictures, as well as updates. Good luck!

And pictures are worth more than 1,000 words when it comes to putting it back together, never say "I'll remember where it goes", i learned the hard way on some things.

There is no transfer case per se, thetransmission output is routed to a short lateral shaft parallel to the crankshaft . That shaft sports a beveled  pinion on the inboard end that drives a ring gear on what is variously called a "middle drive gear shaft" or "output shaft" that runs fore & aft in the crankcase.  This shaft drives the front differential and rear final drive--it is powered when the centrifugal clutch on the crankshaft  locks up (I.e. in both 2WD and 4WD), it is lubricated by the engine oil..

There is quite little in the front differential to "bind"--when was the gear oil last changed? First thing I'd do would be to drain the diff fluid and see what it looks like (metal particles, sludge, etc.) and give it a good sniff to "see" if it smells burnt.

Picked up an essentially new 2022 UT400 with 9 miles on it.  Decided to change the oil because it's probably never been done.  Pulled the dipstick and noticed it was overfull then went and pulled the drain plug and took off the filter and it was like brown water running out.  What should I start checking?

I recently purchased a 2024 Hisun 550 Sector from Kreps Service Station and am having issues with the gear selector, I am doing as instructed in the owners manual but the shifter acts like it is binding or the button lock isn't releasing, the shifter will not move, I have to wiggle it back and forth while pushing hard on the brake and if it's in park or reverse it's nearly impossible to get it to move, I contacted Justin Krep and he says this is normal with these machines, I find that hard to believe, I've owned many utvs and side x sides and have never had this kind of issue with any of them, any help with this problem would be greatly appreciated.

Belt started slipping when I used it in high gear. It works okay in low unless I'm trying to power it up a hill and then it slips.., Ordered a new belt and went to change it and found a good bit of oil in the belt housing. Has anyone experienced this? Belt looks fine. Only have 300 miles on this thing..

I need a pair of front shocks for a Landpride Treker 4200NT, from 2005?  Does anyone know of a good salvage yard - or another source?
The old shocks have "SEBAC 11685 12 3" stamped on them (or something very close - it's hard to read). I think SEBAC are (were?) an Italian company.
Is there a compatible shock I can use? I don't have easy access to a scrap yard where I can compare shocks etc.
      Thanks,
      -Kim
