Hi all!  My name is Rob and I'm new the the UTV world. I'm Glad to be here and learn from the experts here on the forum.

I have a frustrating question to ask the experienced members on here  regarding the gear oil for my Coleman 400. The manual recommends for the final drive  SAE 80 API GL-4 Hypoid gear oil and for the Diff SAE 80 API GL-5 Hypoid gear oil. I can't find this stuff anywhere( I'm in Calgary by the way) ..especially the GL-4 stuff. If I find something close , it's not Hypoid , or only GL-5 What is everyone using , whats safe? is the dual rated stuff good to use in both places,  most of the dual rated stuff I find saids not recommended for a wet clutch. Obviously I have a lot to learn about this , so I'm here to learn and ask for some advice. Appreciate any input, help and guidance.....thanks -Rob

Not sure, your best bet would be to contact your local Coleman/HiSun dealer.

However, my Mule calls for SAE 90 (hypoid, API GL5) in the manual, however kawasaki  sells 80W-90 gear oil for it.

I just changed the gear oils in my 2020 Outfitter 400  a couple days ago--used Supertech (Walmart's house brand) 75W-90 GL-5 gear oil, which is made by Valvoline--Its what i  used it in my 2003 515 HP 2003 Mustan g Cobra, thatr's why there was a nearly full  bottle on the shelf in the barn..--use it in my 2009 Honda Silver Wing too. Heck, I'd use it in anything without hesitation...

Actually you can, the real differences between GL-4 and GL-5 are nearly negligible. GL-5 is claimed to handle shock loading better than GL-4; and be slightly more "slippery" making the EPA happy.. If I had an axle with dirty oil that really needed to be changed, and had nothing but a bottle of GL-4 on the shelf, I use it and not lose a moment's sleep...

I have a Massimo 2019 Buck 400 and the wet clutch uses the engine oil . The transmission and final drive both use gear oil

That is a different beast with a stand-alone transmission; bearing no relation to the Hisun 400 on which both the centrifugal clutch, transmission, and longitudinal middle (output) shaft  are in the crankcase, lubricated as one would expect by engine oil.  The front differential and rear reducer are individually lubricated by gear oil in their respective housings.

I want to add that because the transmission an d output shaft are lubricated by engine oil (like most motorcycles) there is no such thing as changing the engine oil too often. Ball-bearings like clean oil. i change the engine oil on my bikes twice as often as "recommended" and the filter every other change¹--cheap insurance...

---------------------------------------------------------------

¹- Perhaps counter-intuitive, and not at all what those who sell oil filters want you to hear--a slightly used oil filter actually filters better than a new one. As it "clogs" it becomes better at filtering out particulate matter--there is of course a time at which it clogs to the point of not providing sufficient volumetric flow. But any normal spin-on filter is easily  good for two "half-the-recommened-cycle" change.. Been doing this for 40+ years with never an oil related failure.. My '89 MIata had 385k miles(200k supercharged) on it when i sold it--the buyer and his son drove it from Tampa to Deal's Gap for a two-week spree the very next day...

be sure if you have a wet clutch that you use an oil FOR wet clutch use..some  full synthetics will turn your  wet clutch quickly into "neutral" .. I use 10W40 Castrol ACTEVO... specifically designed for Motorcycle/ATV wet clutch systems

Joe, have you personally experienced this? I've heard the story over and over again for years now, but have never had the problem, nor known ay one who has. However I do not generally use synthetic oil in my bikes--as I said earlier I change it rather often (1000-1200 miles usually) to keep it as clean as possible for the ball bearings.

I would really like to know what you guys think about this. I'll try not to ramble and make it as clear as I can.

I took this new job with companyX as a fiber splicer a year ago. I have a 45' bucket truck and 10or12 x 8 ft enclosed splice trailer I have to take home. Within the last 6 months all the management in the splice dept left. Now the power/construction management and higher ups are filling in. Just recently we were told travel to our 1st job is not payable even though we are in a company vehicle.
We are union so I asked the union business manager about this. His reply was be grateful you were paid travel as long as you were and that you don't have to drive your POV to the job.

Last week I had 50hr total. The job area is 4-4.5 hrs away. My time was reduced to 44.5 hrs since we were told this travel thing on Tuesday of that week. I wasn't hired for this area. I was hired for area a lot closer to home.

Pay is good. Work is not hard. Insurance is through the union and so far pretty good.
But I hate the thought of having to work extra just to make a 40hr paycheck. Anyone who has to drive as part of their job knows windshield time is not easy.

Anyway what do you guys think. Should I look for a different job or just suck it up because of the decent pay and health insurance.

Anyone know anything about the Massimo Warrior 1000 MXD Crew UTV? I like the look but don't know anyone that owns one. All feedback is appreciated.

Hello! I picked up a Facebook especial and was curious if I could get some help identifying what exactly it is. It was labeled as a Mossimo 500, but I can't confirm that. The closest I've seen is a Hisun Supermach 500. I bought it as a project but without knowing exactly what it is and the year it's hard to buy parts for it.
What I do know is that it has the Hisun 500cc carbureted engine, and I can share the VIN if that helps.
      Here are some photos

      Thanks in advance

I got a utv from lowes it has one tire in the back that is the same size as the front tires so it has 3, 26-9-14 and 1 26-11-24. i want to change the rear tire to the same one as the other. So instead of buying a new rim will a 26-11-24 tire fit on a 26-9-14 rim.
