Hi All,

I'm new to powersports and was looking to buy a UTV, but I'm surprised that there aren't many stick shift models. The only ones I was able to find where the Joyner buggy, and yamaha yxz1000r. Are there any others?

Thanks!

They would cost more to make (this is a very competitive cost driven industry) and there is little to no demand. Personally I think the CVT is better suited to off-road use.

The Mahindra Roxor with a diesel engine uses a 5-speed tranny/clutch arrangement.  They are also looking at a 6-speed automatic.   I think manufacturers favor the CVT because they are easier to drive.  You only have to select between High (most driving), Low, Neutral, Reverse and Park.  Driving a manual transmistion requries the driver to take a more active role in managing engine power and torque at the rear axle.  On uphill climbs, upshifting against the pull of gravity isnt' easy to maintain forward movement.  Mine has a 5-speed and I like it.  But it's for me.

The reason I would want a manual is just because I enjoy driving them more. Thanks guys!

I understand, I owned nothing but manual transmission vehicles for 45+ years--a stroke in late 2011 changed that--got my first auto, a 2012 Infinity M37; still have it, best car I have ever owned...

I am looking to buy a small UTV to do work around my property and priced a brand new Massimo T-Boss 560 through Lowes @ $10,500 out the door or a  Dealer provided CFMOTO Uforce 600 at $11,500 out the door.    Are there any glaring reasons to go with the Uforce 600 at an extra $1000?  Is one model more reliable than the other?  Any input greatly appreciated.

If anyone is looking for the cheapest UTV, with dump bed, winch, roof and windshield, I just noticed that lowes has the axis 500/ hisun UTV on sale for 4500 (at least in my area) They are $4500. ($9000 original). I have one - they have some issues, but nothing catastrophic. My biggest complaint is that it is under powered. Also the winch failed. They are still selling an extended warranty - which I would take, just in case. My guess is lowes wants them gone.
